A Marshall County woman is in jail today, accused of fatally running over her boyfriend with a pickup truck.

Karen Farr, born in 1970, is being held on previous charges, according to Joe Miller of the state Highway Patrol troop out of Batesville. He didn’t know the nature of the prior charges.

The man killed was Ronnie Perry, born Sep. 28, 1963.

Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said the incident happened after the couple was arguing at the Shady Rest motel Friday afternoon. The motel is on Highway 72 near the Tennessee state line and the Cayce Road intersection.

Dickerson said Perry left the motel and started walking east along Highway 72.

Farr, according to Miller, got in a Ford Ranger and drove after him. He said Farr was in the eastbound lane, saw Perry in the westbound lane and swerved to hit him.

“She just literally ran him over with a pickup,” the sheriff said Saturday. “He was dead on the scene.”

Miller said she hit another vehicle after running over her boyfriend. The driver of the other vehicle is OK, the trooper said.

The collision wrecked the truck and Farr reportedly left on foot for the motel, where she was arrested by deputies.

Dickerson said she will be arraigned Monday on new charges.

Officers from the Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation. Miller said the investigation is ongoing and the accident reconstruction team is working on it today.
