GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — A 25-year-old Greenwood woman has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a local man.

Police Chief Henry Purnell tells the Greenwood Commonwealth (http://bit.ly/syNBOw ) that 25-year-old Minnie Elizabeth Hill was being held in Friday’s death of 25-year-old Ricky Ferguson. Purnell says Hill has an initial court appearance on Monday and was being held in the Leflore County jail on $750,000 bond.

Purnell says the two had apparently argued and that led to Ferguson being stabbed Friday.

Purnell says Ferguson was taken to Greenwood Leflore Hospital in a private vehicle. He says the hospital notified police.

Purnell says Hill was initially charged with aggravated assault. It was upgraded to murder when Ferguson later died.
