SALTILLO – A Union County woman was injured Thursday morning when her SUV rear-ended an 18-wheeler.

The gray Nissan Pathfinder rounded a curve headed west on Industrial Park Road and collided with the 18-wheeler, which was parked on the side of the road, according to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson. The SUV was caught underneath the left back side of the 18-wheeler’s trailer, and the right side of the SUV sustained the most damage.

The driver, Amanda Parker, 37, of Blue Springs, was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. There were no passengers in the SUV.

The accident occurred between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. Industrial Park Road is just off Highway 145 near the Highway 45 interchange. The exact cause of the wreck remains under investigation.

The driver of the semi was unhurt. He was parked on the side of the road waiting for a company to open at Turner Lee Industrial Park so he could deliver some goods.

The truck’s company is Transportation Specialists Co. of Ellenwood, Ga.
