MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The co-defendant of a man suspected in the robbery of Tupelo’s Trustmark Bank was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for his guilty plea in a Memphis bank robbery.
Johnny Leon Harris of Oklahoma City, Okla., was sentenced last Friday in U.S. District Court of Western Tennessee.
Robert Shantz, his alleged partner in an armed holdup at the Bank of Bartlett, is set for trial Aug. 6.
Investigators claim Shantz of Georgia admitted to a multi-state bank robbery spree, which ended near Memphis on July 15, 2011.
He’s considered a suspect in the July 7, 2011, holdup on West Main Street in Tupelo.
