JACKSON — An employee of University Medical Center in Jackson says she resigned after being admonished over a message she posted to Gov. Haley Barbour on the networking site Twitter.
Barbour recently said on Twitter that he’s looking forward to hearing the Legislature’s ideas on trimming state expenses. Jennifer Carter then tweeted this message:
“Schedule regular medical exams like everyone else instead of paying UMC employees over time to do it …”
Carter told WLBT television that she was referring to a story she had heard about Barbour scheduling a Saturday checkup. She says she was strongly urged to resign for breaking patient privacy laws. UMC confirmed the resignation. The governor’s office declined comment when contacted by WLBT.
