Woman sentenced in abuse case

COLLINS, Miss. (AP) — A Mount Olive woman has been sentenced to prison time after her guilty plea to felony abuse of a vulnerable person.

The Hattiesburg American reports (http://hatne.ws/NlgiJS) Covington County Circuit Court Judge Eddie Bowen sentenced 34-year-old Stacey Keyes on Friday to five years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with one year to serve and the remaining time suspended on the condition that Keyes successfully completes four years of probation.

Keyes, a former employee of Millcreek Home and Community Based Services in Collins, was accused of hitting a client in the head with a weighted object on July 22, 2011.

She also must pay a $250 fine, a $250 assessment to the Mississippi Crime Victims Compensation Fund and more than $700 in other costs.
