HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — The death of a 27-year-old Hattiesburg woman whose body was discovered Friday morning was a homicide.

Jenkins, a member of the University of Southern Mississippi’s women’s basketball team for two seasons in the early 2000s, was found in a stand of woods.
Nobles said her body “had been there overnight, at the most.”
Jenkins, who lived in Lamar County, had been reported missing by her father. Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said a missing person report had been filed with his office Thursday night. A similar report had been filed with Hattiesburg Police as well.
