TUPELO – A wreck backed up traffic for about an hour on Saturday on Highway 6 just outside the Tupelo city limits.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Ray Hall, the two-vehicle crash happened about 3:30 p.m. and is still under investigation.
Hall said it appeared Paul White, 20, of Tupelo, was traveling east on Hwy. 6, when he crossed over into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2001 Dodge Durango, driven by Pamela Byars, 56, of Tupelo.
After the crash, White’s vehicle overturned. Both drivers had to be extracted from their vehicles. They both were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in Byars vehicle also was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both the drivers and passenger was wearing a seat belt.
