BRUCE – Harold David Morgan, 70, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at his home. He was born March 4, 1942, in Derma. He was a self-employed plumber, electrician, and in heating and cooling. He was a salesman for Jim Aron Used Cars. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Burial will be in Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa (Robert) Jackson, Lisa (Monte) Jordan and Jackie (Robert) Box, all of Grenada; one brother, Cecil Morgan of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; two sisters, Betty (Richard) Young of Madison and Sandra (Darrell) Logan of Bruce; and six grandchildren, Ariel Jordan, Morgan Jackson, Peyton Box, Will Jordan, Robbie Jackson and Annie Box.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy L. Logan Morgan, and his parents, Cephas D. Morgan and Maggie M. Spruill Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Jim Earl Aron, Peyton Box, Robbie Jackson, Will Jordan, Brad Logan, David Allen Morgan, Matthew Morgan and Rich Young.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time today at the funeral home.

BOONEVILLE – Doris Elizabeth McMillan, 73, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born Jan. 1, 1939, to Bonnie and Rosa Lee Gullett Outlaw. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. She worked for Brown Shoe Company and Prentiss Manufacturing Company.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tony Brown officiating. Burial will be in Zion’s Rest Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Jayann) McMillan of Booneville; and two granddaughters, Hope McMillan and Heather (D.J.) Stephens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy M. McMillan; her parents; two brothers, Blannon Outlaw and Hershel Outlaw; and a sister, Lillie Mae Ford.
Visitation will continue until service time today at the funeral home.

Bettye Hurt
RIPLEY – Bettye Sue Spires Hurt, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth. She was born Nov. 7, 1938, to Milton and Ellen Jeter Spires. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She was a registered nurse for 35 years.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Darling officiating. Burial will be in Golden Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim Dahlke (Martin) of Saltillo; one sister, Ruth Spires of Ripley; one brother, Wade Spires (Sylvia) of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Lauren Carter (Matthew) of Tupelo, Jeff Bryan of Ripley, Mary Elizabeth Baak of Houston, Texas, Jessica Perry (Daniel) of McCall Creek, Travers Bray, Josh Dahlke, Jacob Dahlke and Matthew Dahlke, all of Tupelo; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Dianna Hurt and Karen Hurt; and one brother, Jimmy Wayne Spires.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Bryan, Matt Carter, Daniel Perry, Jeff Bryan, Justin Spires, Travers Bray, Josh Dahlke, Matthew Dahlke and Zane Bryan.

Burnell Hollingsworth
TUPELO – William Burnell Hollingsworth Jr., 75, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Nov. 3, 1936, to William Burnell Hollingsworth Sr. and Lacy Leone Baker Hollingsworth in Baton Rouge, La. He was a graduate of Amite High School in Amite, La., Southeastern College in Hammon, La., and Moellar Barber College in New Orleans, La. He lived most of his life in Aberdeen before moving to Tupelo, where he was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. He worked as a barber for City Barber Shop in Aberdeen. He loved working on genealogy, and playing dominoes, shuffleboard and cards.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery with Bro. David Smith officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen is in charge of the service.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Walters Hollingsworth of Tupelo; three daughters, Pamela Hollingsworth and Penny Hollingsworth (Dean Hamilton), both of the Dallas, Texas, area, and Patsy Whitaker (Perry) of Tupelo; one son, Alan Hollingsworth (Irma) of Saginaw, Texas; five grandchildren, Dylan Miller, Devin Miller, Aaron Hollingsworth, Gina Hollingsworth and Harrison Whitaker; and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

NEW ALBANY – William “Cody” Newsum, 93, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Union County to Robert Galloway Newsum and “Reese” Teresa M. Gates Newsum. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired employee of the furniture industry and Ingomar High School. He was a member of American Legion and Northside Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Terry Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughter, Swanda Newsum Boyd (James) of New Albany; three sisters, Eva Bailey of Cairo, Dola Rorie of Tupelo and Vaneda Dowdy of Cairo; a brother, Robert Newsum of Cairo; two grandchildren, Brent Mauldin of Memphis and Lynn Dawe Harp (Rick) of New Albany; four great-grandchildren, Scotty A. Dawe (Jessica) of New Albany, Stephen C. Dawe of Blue Springs, Taylor L. Dawe of New Albany and Haley Jones of Myrtle; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mylan A. Dawe and Brayden A. Dawe, both of New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Swords Newsum; a sister, Hermie Lewis; and two brothers, Sam Newsum and Travis Newsum.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Dawe, Stephen Dawe, Mike Swords, Johnny Newsum, Keith Newsum, Don Bailey and Ray Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Danny Hickam
TOLEDO, Ohio – Daniel E. “Danny” Hickam, 33, formerly of Fremont, Ohio, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on Dec. 7, 1978, in Fremont to Edward E. Hickam and Rosa Flores. He was a 1997 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He was an assistant manager at Discount Tire in Toledo. He was a former member of Fremont Wreckers Boxing Club and practiced martial arts. He loved sports and spending time with his family and nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Presley Hickam; son, Cameron Henson; another daughter whom he loved dearly; mother and stepfather, Rosa Flores and Juan Garcia of Vickery, Ohio; father, Edward E. (Leigh) Hickam of Pontotoc; siblings, Edward (Shelly) Hickam of Fremont, Ohio, Rachel (Mike) Flynn of Louisville, Ky., Alicia (Chris Dymond) Rodenhauser of Fremont, Ohio, Amber Hickam of Pontotoc and Rebecca (Stephanie) Crawley of Parma, Ohio; grandparents, Gilbert and Martha Flores, and Ruby Hickam, all of Fremont, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jennifer Vaughn of Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jesse Flores; great-grandmother, Maria Diaz; and his grandfather, Kermit Hickam.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home in Fremont, Ohio, with Bishop Gary Clowers officiating.

TREMONT – Rayford Whitehead, 94, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012. He was born on Nov. 12, 1917, to Virgil and Leah Hollingsworth Whitehead in Alabama. He was a member of Plain View Church of Christ. He was a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing watermelons.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Tom House officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Jeanette Hester Whitehead of Tremont; daughter, Sandra Brock (Jerry) of Littleville, Ala.; sons, Paul Whitehead of Tremont, Wayne Whitehead of Tampa, Fla., and Greg Whitehead of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Rayburn Whitehead of Guin, Ala., and Willoughby Whitehead (Betty) of Montgomery, Ala.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Brock, Douglas Brock, Drew Brock, Jake Whitehead, Ricky Roberts and Jerene Fikes.

Louise Hutcherson
MACON – Sadie Louise Hutcherson, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. She was born July 10, 1924, in Noxubee County near Brooksville to Samuel Leonard and Lenora Bell Upton Williams. She married William Odell Hutcherson on March 1, 1940. They had four children. She came to a saving knowledge of Jesus at her home on July 30, 1957, and joined Calvary Baptist Church in Macon the next month. She was a faithful member and tireless worker at Calvary for the remainder of her life, being involved there in teaching Sunday school, working in the nursery, working on the hostess committee and building and grounds committee, and by singing in the choir. She worked at Ferris Dry Goods and at T.W.L. Store for many years. She was a very friendly person who always had a smile on her face. She loved her church family and being with all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard and on the church grounds and flower beds.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon with Bro. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Soule Chapel Cemetery in Noxubee County. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:30 p.m. today at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Rod) Bryan of Aberdeen; sons, James (Carol) Hutcherson of Mustang, Okla., and Richard (Paulette) and Jimmy (Wanda) Hutcherson, both of Columbus; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jack and Sherry Harrellson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, eight sisters, and nine brothers.
