Thomas Hester
FORT WORTH, Texas – Thomas Wayne Hester, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Life Care Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born June 29, 1937, in Booneville to James M. and Velma Hare Hester. He was a telephone equipment technician. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and later retired from the Alabama National Guard after 25 years.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Oaklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. David Lowery officiating. McMillan Funeral Home of Booneville is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by one son, Michael (Julie) Hester of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Mary Margaret (Jimmy) Green of Booneville; three grandchildren, Christopher Hester, Sarah and Ryan McHugh; and his former wife, Joyce Hester.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Roy Duncan
TUPELO – James Roy Duncan, 87, died Thursday Sept. 27, 2012, at the Mississippi Veteran’s Home in Oxford after an extended illness. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was prisoner in Germany until the end of the war. He earned numerous medals after joining the army at age 17. He was the youngest of 11 children being born Jan. 7, 1925, in Prentiss County to John Franklin and Mattie Bell Duncan. He was a member and deacon of Harrisburg Church and attended as long as he was able. He was a retired employee of Borden’s Inc. with 25 years of service. He enjoyed making music with family and friends since his father bought him a guitar when he was a teenager.
Services with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at All Saints’ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Paul Stephens and the Rev Stanford Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Prentiss County.
Survivors include two sons, James Roy Duncan Jr. of Booneville and Nathan Cox Duncan (Cathy) of Tupelo; sister, Rachel Ryan of Zion, Ill.; brother, John Perry “Jake” Duncan of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Nat Duncan (Carrie), Brett Duncan, Walt Duncan, Candace Duncan (Bruce), Trinity Duncan, Chasity Duncan; and great-grandchildren, August and Grant Duncan, and Destiny Hester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Opal Cox Duncan; and brothers and sisters, Maggie Lee Cagle, Ollie Ida Miller, Willie Mae Miller, Charles Thomas Duncan, Samuel Wade Duncan, Mollie Alice Cagle, Frances Lauvenna Moore and William Howard Duncan.
Military will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn. The body will lie in repose at the church parlor from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday.

Rev. Julius Minor
OXFORD – The Rev. Julius Minor, 52, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at North Oxford Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oxford City Memorial Cemetery. Serenity-Martin Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time today.

Linda Price
CORINTH – Linda Stennett Price, 72, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born March 10, 1940, in Louisville to Ray and Lorene Stennett. She was a graduate of Corinth High School and Union University with a degree in elementary education. She earned her master’s degree at Blue Mountain College. She retired from Alcorn Central Elementary School after teaching for 33 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was active in the church, singing in the choir and attending the Serendipity Sunday School Class. She was the owner of Granny’s Sandwich Shop.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park. Memorial Funeral Home of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Floyd Rusty (Mary Margaret) Price of Corinth; her daughter, Laurie (Jeff) Clark of Jackson, Tenn.; sister, Mary Nell (Kenneth) Armstrong of Germantown, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ivy, Stennett and Anna Ruth Price, Will and Claire Clark; sisters-in-law, Janet Stennett of Bella Vista, Ark., and Shirley (Pete) Rinehart of Guys, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Raymond (Lottie) Price of Guys, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd “Junior” Price; her parents; and a brother, Ray Stennett Jr.
Pallbearers will be Keith Rinehart, Scott Tucker, Steven King, Benny Teague, Walker Wood and Stan Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and ushers of First Baptist Church, John Meeks and Tom Rogers.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home and from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church.

CORINTH – Bettye Humphries Tutor, 69, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Funeral Home in Corinth.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Ronald Archer
WREN – Ronald Cole Archer, 62, died on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Born on June 30, 1950, in Amory, he was a son of the late J.C. and Lorine Williams Archer. He married Doris Pierce on Aug. 15, 1975. He attended Amory School. He retired from Kerr McGee as a maintenance supervisor with 38 years of service. He was a member and chairman of the board of trustees at Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church and caretaker of Pisgah Cemetery in Wren. He was a man often referred to as having the desire to always help others. Being strong in his faith, he was known by always putting his faith to work by actively serving his church and community. He was a member of the Wren Volunteer Fire Department and J.A. Mayfield Masonic Lodge 165. He was also a Shriner. He enjoyed boat riding and skiing with his family, working on his stuff and visiting with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Archer; daughter, Kerry Archer of Wren; son, Cole Archer of Biloxi; sister-in-law, Marcia Archer of Wren; brothers, Kenneth (Candy) Archer of Wren, and Walter (Patricia) Archer of Houston; a grandson, Matthew Reed Archer; an aunt, Minrose Ramseur; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Archer.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Harrison Upshaw and Bro. Tom Sheffield officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be members of the Wren Volunteer Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Barnette, Buzzy Cullum, Bailey Haney, James Whitehead, Randy Motes, J.W. Sprayberry, Darren Beasley, Dave Ferrell, Bobby Warren and Hob Sanderson III.

OKOLONA – Amy Lucille Richardson, 54, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1958, to Hoover Richardson and Daisy Loving Richardson. She was a member of Poplar Spring CME Church. She was a 1976 graduate of Okolona High School and a former employee of the NMMC, Quality Food Grocery and Skyline Furniture.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Poplar Springs CME Church with the Rev. Dr. Clementine Mays officiating. Burial will be in Richardson Cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of arrangmenets.
Survivors include her parents, Hoover Richardson and Daisy Richardson of Shannon; five sisters, Artie Richardson of Tupelo, Pricilla Bowens of Shannon, Earlene Walton of Tupelo, Lizzie Blanchard (Michael) of Clinton and Shelia Richardson of Tupelo; and four brothers, Hoover Richardon of Okolona, Chester Richardson (Julie) of Bossier, La., Sammy Richardon of Shannon and Walter Richardson of Breville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lasandra Richardson, and a brother, George “Big Red” Richardson.

NETTLETON – Authur Brooks died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at his home. He was born July 16, 1957.

Theron Pinion
OXFORD – Theron Russell Pinion, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. He was a retired machinist at the University of Mississippi. He served in the United States National Guard. He was a Mason for 39 years and a member of Tula Baptist Church. He enjoyed the Tula Opry, camping, fishing and hunting.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Waller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Hill, the Rev. Johnny Stewart, the Rev. Malcolm Pinion and the Rev. Chuck Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in New El Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Stewart Pinion of Oxford; three sons, Rusty Pinion of Oxford, Rodney Pinion of Washington, D.C., and Randall Pinion of Oxford; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE – Lorraine Aaron Copeland, 92, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born Oct. 28, 1919, to William Kenner and Nora Harris Aaron. She was a piano teacher and a member of Booneville First United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.
Survivors are one daughter, Marcia (Gary) Cartwright of Booneville; one son, William Philip Copeland of Booneville; two grandchildren, Shelley Lorraine (Ryan) Roper and Travis Clinton (Heather) Cartwright, both of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Lily Mayo Roper, Sadie Frances Roper and Ella Anne Cartwright; and one niece, Deanna Aaron McKenzie of Memphis.
