MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sammy T. Gray, 57, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was born Sept. 20, 1954, in Lee County to Sam and Lucille Gray.
He was a member of Rising Star M.B. Church in Tupelo and was married to Edna Gray.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rising Star M.B. Church in Tupelo with the Rev. Melvin Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Kimble Chapel cemetery in Belden. Agnew amp& Sons Funeral Home of Verona is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Gray of Tupelo; four daughters, Cheniquea Dilworth of Belden, Kawana Wade and Tiffany Wade, both of Pontotoc, and Christina Gray of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Trevor Rogers of Tupelo; one stepson, Charles (Terra) Gardner; one sister, Minnie (Aundra) Menefield of Tupelo; two brothers, Jeff D. Gray of Chicago and Theophis Gray of Belden; 13 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ella Sue Jones.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Kimble Chapel and family hour is from 5 to 6 p.m. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Lennard Kinard, 67, of Holly Springs, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at his home.

Jacqueline Pannell
RACINE, Wis. – Jacqueline Ann Pannell, 46, of Racine, Wis., died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at her home. She was born March 8, 1966, to Charles Clanton Jr. and Kate Newson. She was raised by her grandmother in Tupelo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at N.L. Jones Funeral Home with a eulogy by Pastor Orlando Pannell.
She is survived by one son, Nicholas Pannell of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Nicole Pannell and Latosha Pannell, both of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Kasiah Haynes, Anyla Pannell and Ovas Powell Jr., all of Tupelo; a special aunt/mother, Lula Bowdry of Tupelo; two brothers, Tyron Cosby Sr. (Keitina) of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Damon Clanton of Tupelo; one sister, Felicia Clanton of Oklahoma City; four nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother, Cornelia Newson.

Madolyn Boland
PASCAGOULA – Madolyn McQuary Boland of Pascagoula passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Plaza Community Living Center with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Chickasaw County. Her greatest pleasure in life was working in her yard with all kinds of flowers.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Calhoun City Cemetery in Calhoun City.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy and husband, Mike Mangum; a grandson, Michael and wife, Gina Hobby; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Riley Kate Hobby; a brother, Red and wife, Gail McQuary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Boland; her parents, John and Mamie McQuary; her son, Lynn Boland; and her brother, J.V. McQuary.

Bud Hurst
WEST POINT – James “Bud” Hurst, 64, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born March 10, 1948, in Clay County in the Irish Colony community to Lena Willhite Hurst and the late Grover Cleveland Hurst. Bud was a member of the Baptist church. He married Mary Ellen Cummings on Oct. 23, 1982, in West Point.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. James Towery officiating, assisted by Charles Hurst providing the eulogy. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Hurst of West Point; two daughters, Angela Stanley Saylors (James) of Columbus and Debbie Stanley Bensend (David) of West Point; two grandchildren, Angel Bensend and Brittany Bensend; his mother, Lena W. Hurst of West Point; two sisters, Ann Hurst Cummings of West Point and Kay Hurst Nordyke (Rick) of Cleveland, Tenn.; two brothers, Joe Hurst of West Point and Charles Hurst (Shirley) of Mullins, S.C.; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friends and neighbors Galen, Sandy and Maggie Garner.

TUPELO – Tom Frank Listenbee, 75, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Golden Living Nursing Home. He enjoyed, talking, watching baseball, singing and spending quality time with his brother and family. He always kept a smile and his favorite season of the year was Christmas.
His life celebration service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at J.W. Porter’s Chapel with the Rev. Lee Hersey officiating and giving the eulogy. Grayson-Porter’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Simmons
CORINTH – William Louis “Billy” Simmons, 90, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born to Bryan Ellis and Falba Moss Simmons on April 20, 1922, in Tippah County. He grew up as one of seven children engaged in the family farm during the Great Depression. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps in European and African Theaters. He was married to Emogene Jamieson Simmons on Dec. 15, 1946. They were married for more than 63 years. A farmer for most of his life, he farmed cotton, soybeans, corn and other crops. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening. He was a member of West Ripley Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by three daughters, Jane Mauney (Mike), Becky Montgomery (Don) and Amy Bullock (Karl), all of Ripley; one son, Stacy Simmons (Myra) of Ripley; and nine grandchildren, Leslie Pettey (Jonathan) of Saltillo, Kelli Kryar of Ripley, Andrea Tucker (Travis) of Tuscumbia, Ala., Marcy Clifton (Shane) of Middleton,Tenn., Callie Richey (T.J.) of Tupelo, Carly McGee (Bobby) of Blue Springs, Lindsay Bullock of Ripley, Abby Simmons and Emily Simmons, both of Ripley; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Pete Simmons (Nancy) of Jonesboro, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Jessie Simmons of Florida; and a brother-in-law, Edsel Jamieson (Evelyn) of Ripley.

Jack Jones
MYRTLE – Jack Jones, 97, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at his home in Macedonia. He was born July 22, 1915, to Johnnie and Addie Rakestraw Jones. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He and his wife owned and operated Jack Jones Grocery from 1948-1983. He also was a heavy equipment owner and operator. Most notably, he helped construct The Road System, which was “a top-secret project” at Oak Ridge in Tennessee. He and his wife loved working in their garden and yard until his recent illness. He was a member of Rocky Ford Lodge for more than 50 years. He loved his family, taking great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ruby Treadaway Jones; one daughter, Diane Downs (Sonny) of Macedonia; three grandchildren, Susan Hall (Paul), Julie Gordon (Thad), Walker Downs (Lana); six great-grandchildren, Carter, Avery and Jack Hall, Bowen Gordon, Jackson and Daniel Downs; and a sister, Virginia Mavalene Nowlin of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a little sister, Opal Jones.

SALTILLO – Tina Moore, 48, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Booneville native, she was born Jan. 12, 1964, to Casey Luther and Ruby Evelyn Owens South. She worked in manufacturing most of her life. She loved going to church, reading the Word and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed sitting out on her deck watching the hummingbirds. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Word of Life Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Word of Life Church with Bro. Tommy Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
