IUKA – W.J. Carlisle, 81, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka.
HOUSTON – Braylen D. “Butter Bean” Kirby, four months, infant son of Brandy Kirby and Tony Robinson, died April 14, 2011, at Trace Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Midway Cemetery in Vardaman. Montgomery Mortuary Service of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
BYHALIA – Roy Powell, 57, died April 16, 2011, at his home in Byhalia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will at Byhalia Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
VINA, Ala. – Ray Henry Bishop, 62, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Helen Keller Hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Vina First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will continue until service time today at the church.
AMORY – Alma Ann Fooshee Pickle, 90, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at her home. Born on Oct. 19, 1920, in Union County, she was a daughter of Jalma Octave and Effie Jane Swords Fooshee. Alma married Hester Pickle on April 27, 1946, who preceded her in death in 2010. She worked at Amory Garment Company before she started her family, then she became a mother and homemaker. She was a member of Freedonia Baptist Church in Ingomar, but St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Amory was her church home. Mrs. Pickle enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She loved following sports teams her children were involved with.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Sisk and Mary Nell Dorris officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Pickle (Faye Reed) of Amory and Jerry ‘Horsey’ Pickle (Julie) of Missouri City, Texas; daughter, Janice Pickle of Amory; grandchildren, Josh Pickle, Ivy Kathryn Pickle Dozier, Matthew Pickle (Ashlin) and Jonathan Pickle; great-grandchildren, Audrey Dozier, Brooklin Pickle, Alissa Pickle, Brittney Alexander and Colton Moffitt; great-great-grandchild, Branion Pickle Loden; nieces and nephews including special nieces, Sharon Fooshee Grace and Mary Fooshee; great-nephew, Branion Woody; her in-laws, Jessie Fooshee, Eva Nell Hunter, Lester and Linda Pickle and Martha and Ike Word.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hester Pickle; and her brothers, Casey, Octave, Joel and Carl Ray “Monkey” Fooshee.
Pallbearers will be Richard Aldridge, Jim Dye, Thomas and Billy Griffith, Larry Palmer and Dan Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr Eddie Yoe and Gentivia Hospice.

TISHOMINGO – Ronnie Lee Belue, 51, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born June 22, 1959, to Vester Eugene and Bertha Irene Holland Belue. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a truck driver.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairview Church of God Cemetery with Bro. Raymond Earl Hisaw officiating. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by two daughters, Amanda LeaAnn Belue and Carol Belue; one sister, Dorothy Lynn Russell; three brothers, Earl (Bootsie) Holland, Harold (Susan) Belue and Randle Belue; and a grandson, Alton Izaiah Belue.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Jason Russell, Chris Holland, Eric Russell, Ray Flanagan, Doyle Holland, Rodney Belue and Scotty Belue.

BOONEVILLE – Samuel Thomas “Sam” English, 28, died Sat., April 16, 2011, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Alcorn County.

MOOREVILLE – Elsie Laverne Umfress, 87, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at The Meadows, in Fulton, after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born May 5, 1923, to Cortez and Jodie Christian Garner. She graduated from Mooreville High School. Earlier in her working career, she was employed by Reed Manufacturing for a number of years. She later worked at The McDougal Center, at the North Mississippi Medical Center, serving as supervisor of housekeeping, and at Belden Daycare. She enjoyed traveling and cooking for her family. She loved her dog, Boo. She was the widow of William Edward Umfress, who died Nov. 16, 2004. She was a longtime member of Auburn Baptist Church, and she was active in the Joy Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Auburn Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob O’Niel and the Rev. Jimmy Henry officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Umfress (Elizabeth) of Birmingham, Ala. and Phillip Umfress of Mooreville; five grandchildren, Gina Umfress, Amy Huckestein, Emily Hood, Becky Judd and April Stewart; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Pearce of Auburn; sister-in-law, Charlie Mae Westmoreland of Richmond; special friends, Charles and Joann Sheffield of Mooreville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Larry Umfress; and her brother, Trice Garner.
Pallbearers will be Donny Pearce, David Pearce, Charles Sheffield and Jimmy Christian.
