OXFORD – Ronnie “Pete” Oliver Herring, 62, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home.
Services are at 11 a.m. in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will take place in Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

NETTLETON – Rebecca Jackson Young, 90, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Nettleton and a graduate of the North Texas Business School in Sherman, Texas. She worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and retired from the Postal Service. She was an active member of the Nettleton Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and president of Presbyterian Women. She was a former member of the Parnassus Club. She loved and cherished her many friends.
Services will be at 11a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Nettleton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Bryan and the Rev. Earl McAnally officiating. Burial will be in Nettleton Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton will be in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Jamie Young Cheek (Bill) of Nettleton; two grandsons, William Bradley Cheek (Leslie) of Nettleton and James Patrick Cheek of Washington, D.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Bradley Cheek and Haley Brooke Cheek, both of Nettleton; two nieces, Nancy Payne and Gloria Bartley; one nephew, Johnny Jackson; and her special caregivers, Marie Wildman, Dorothy Tapley andTajuana Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James C. Young; her sister, Syvilla Rieves; and two brothers, Chesley Hulon and John Russell “Ted” Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Durell Hall, Eddie Sullivan, Toby Groves, Joe Hester, Richard McDuffie, Ikey Roebuck, Glyn Hester and Lynn Hester. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Jackson, Bruce Bartley, Glen Payne, Jimmy Mitchell, Ralph Senter, R.V. Adams, Carroll Pettigrew and Steve Rankin.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nettleton Presbyterian Church and will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

OXFORD – Johnny Quay McCoy, 78, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee. He was a veteran of the Army where he served as a staff sergeant.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Wanell Mathis McCoy of Oxford; his son, Steven Wilson McCoy (Briget) of Hattiesburg; his daughter, Sharon McCoy DuBrueler of Oxford; one sister, Geneva Maples of Oxford; one brother, Troy McCoy of Oxford; three grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua McCoy of Hattiesburg and John David DuBrueler of Oxford; and two step-grandchildren, Calah and Britney Slade of Hattiesburg.

NEW ALBANY – Deborah Tidwell Curry, 54, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County. She was born Nov. 6, 1958, in Memphis, to Charles Tidwell and Bonnie Reed Tidwell. She had worked in the past at Albany Industries, New Albany Elementary School and a nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County. She enjoyed reading and camping.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at New Albany Presbyterian Church will Bro. Bill Everett officiating. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Curry of New Albany; twin daughters, Margaret and Suzanne Curry of New Albany; two brothers, Charles Tidwell Jr. of Natchez and Mark Tidwell (Paula) of Blue Mountain; and her father-in-law, Friday Curry (Nita Curry).
She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Reed; and her mother-in-law, Imogene Curry.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service today at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a college fund for her twin daughters at Bank of New Albany.
WALNUT – Terry David Clayton, 60, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1952, to Robert and Martha Leach Clayton. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and an electrician.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery in Corinth.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Martha Leach Clayton of Walnut; one son, Jamie Moffitt of Adamsville, Tenn.; three brothers, Robert Keith Clayton of Booneville, Richard Tracey Clayton (Melody) of Jonesboro, Ark., and Christopher Robin Clayton of Walnut; one stepson, Danny Morgan of Horn Lake; one step-grandchild, Jordan Morgan of Horn Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

VARDAMAN – Elbert Lee Moore Jr., 86, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora.He was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Calhoun County to Elbert L. Moore Sr. and Irene Spencer Moore. He was a retired farmer and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his sons, Madie (Beverly) Moore of Calhoun City, Terry (Becky) Moore of Calhoun City and Ruble Moore of Vardaman; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Vance officiating. Burial is at North Union Cemetery in Bellfontaine.

PONTOTOC – Ray Anthony Palmer, 63, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Nov. 30, 1949, to Thurman Palmer Jr. and Margaret Ridge Palmer. He was a member of County Baptist Church in Pontotoc County. He was licensed to preach the gospel April 29, 1979, at Randolph Baptist Church and was ordained to the ministry at Ner Robbs Bethel Baptist Church June 22, 1980. He attended Blue Mountain College in the early 1980’s. He was a self-employed business owner in Pontotoc for many years and worked as a mechanic for the Pontotoc County School Bus Shop before becoming disabled. He enjoyed television Bible shows, making family movies and spending time with family and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Cary Worthington and Bro. Tommy Immon officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kidd Palmer; three daughters, Angela Wright (Paul) of Ripley, Janet Robbins (Jackie) and Nancy Peren (Joel); three sons, James Raymond Palmer, Samuel Palmer of New Albany and Thomas Palmer (Daisy); four grandchildren, Alyssa, Valerie, John Thomas “J.T.” and Haley Palmer; four step-grandchildren, Ann Robbins Keith, Brenda Robbins, Edwin Peren and Jose Peren; three step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Keith, Elanea Keith and Marina Peren; three sisters, Charlene Rodgers (Homer), Darlene Reeves (James) and Debbie Alexander (Danny); and three brothers, Robert Palmer (Ann), Randy Palmer and Ricky Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nell Alander; and two brothers, Roger and Rodney Palmer.

HICKORY FLAT – Christine Edwards Wilson, 88, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her home. She was born June 10, 1924, to Archie Oliver Edwards and Mary Aliza Perkins Edwards. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Baker and Bro. Randy Hamilton officiating. Burial is at Pine Grove in Hickory Flat. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her son, James Elton Wilson (Cathy); daughter, Mary Etta Chunn (John) of Ripley; brothers, Lehmann Edwards of Hickory Flat, Junior Edwards of Hickory Flat and Cecil Edwards; sister, Frances Massengill of Hickory Flat; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Vance Wilson.
HOLLY SPRINGS – L.P. Joy, 62, died Sunday, Aptil 21, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. He was formerly of Taylor. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.
OXFORD – Edith Ray Woods Boyd, 64, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. A native of Lafayette county, she was the daughter of Ebben and Versie King Woods. She was a member of Harrisonville MB Church, where she sang in the choir and was on the kitchen committee. She was a pressor for Mark’s Cleaners until her health failed. She loved to cook, sing and have children around her.
Life celebration will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harrisonville MB Church with the Rev. Darrin Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Harrisonville Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Vonda Woods and Pamela Woods, both of Oxford; three sons, Mickey Woods of New Albany, Gregory K. Wooks and Willie K. Woods, both of Oxford; three step-daughters, Carolyn Johnson, Beverly Boyd and Tina Gordon; three sisters, Bobbie Jean Marion and Annetta Hardin, both of Oxford and Forestine McWilliams of New Albany; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 22 step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Boyd.

PONTOTOC – Luna Holloway Corder, 90, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Buckhorn community, to Loss and Charlotte Holley. She was a resident of Randolph and then Pontotoc in her later years. She enjoyed spending time with family, quilting and gardening. She loved and adored her Lord Jesus and was a member of New Faith Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro Don McCutchen officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartwell Tutor Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Lottie Jones (Joe), Faye Moore (Terry) and Patsy Morphis, all of Pontotoc; eight grandchildren, George Jones, Lisa Pace, Mary Montgomery (Fletcher), Kathy Sellars (Ronald), Scott Moore (Kim), Staci Rushing (Derik), Chuck McLarty (Patti) and Dawne Taylor; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Palmer Holloway and Rad Corder; six sisters, Jessie Bland, Minnie Mooneyham, Lena Bland, Leona Coomer, Grace Holley and Nellie Ferguson; three brothers, Wade Holley, Bud Holley and Wallace Holley.

HOUSTON – Debra Cook, died Sunday, April 21, 2013. She was born April 19, 1953, in Houston to John Brassfield and Bobbie Mae Dotson Brassfield. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Nazarene Church.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston, with Bro. Scott Samuell officiating. Burial is at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, Ronnie Cook; one daughter, Michelle Russel (Sam) of Houlka; one son, Jason Cook (Carrie) of Ridgeland; her grandchildren, Jack Russell, Sean Russell, Ty Russell, Michael Keith, Katie Cook, Olivia Cook and Sam Cook; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Brassfield and Warren Brassfield; and three sisters, JoAnn Brassfield, Kathy Easley and Stella Kilgore.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Bobbie Mae Brassfield; and one sister, Brenda Lancaster.

MYRTLE – Henry Hearn, 71, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1941, in New Albany, to John Henry Hearn and Flossie Lucille Gadd Hearn. He was formerly employed with Piper Impact, Maddengill Trucking and Merit. He was married to Helen Becker Hearn for 50 years.
Services were at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Serenity Chapel in New Albany. Bro. Jeremiah McMillen officitated. Burial was at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery in Myrtle.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Hearn; five daughters, Evelyn Mason of Etta, Penny Smithey of New Albany, Belinda Hearn of Myrtle, Virginia (Dwayne) Derick and Bonnie (John) Moody, both of Ingomar; brother, Oliver Hearn of Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family.
