GRENADA – Rita Margaret Gordin Goodson, 62, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1950, in Greenwood to Dennis Gordin Jr. and Ina McLemore Gordin. She was a retired registered nurse for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. A former resident of Derma, she was a member of Derma Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City. Bro. Danny Spratlin will officiate. Burial will be in New Gauley Cemetery in Calhoun City.
She is survived by two sisters, Melissa Alexander of Oxford and Sharon Harrison of Antioch, Ill.; one brother, Dennis E. Gordin III of Taylors, S.C.; a special friend, Jimmy Ross of Grenada.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Goodson; her second husband, David Goodson; a niece, Cynthia Harrison; and her parents.
Pallbearers include Marshall Alexander, William Alexander and Michael Joe Cannon.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Pryor Funeral Home.

WEST POINT – Willie Alex Wilson, 72, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at New Hope M.B. Church. Burial will be in Sykes Cemetery. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
HAMILTON – Robert Lee “R.L.” Black, 89, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his residence in Hamilton. He was born April 18, 1923, to Pierce Black and Margaret McKnight Black in Ackerman. He lived in Aberdeen for 42 years and moved to Hamilton and lived the past two years. He was 1st lieutenant in the U. S. Army, serving in World War II and the Korean conflict. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1950. He retired from the ICG Railroad. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Dennis Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Dulin Black of Hamilton; two daughters, Marlinda Murphy (Tom) of Dallas, Texas, and Sharon Sanders (Tommy) of Hamilton; one son, Robert Leslie Black (Mary Beth) of Amory; eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Black.
Pallbearers will be Blake Griffin, Tom Murphy, Tommy Sanders, E.J. Nolen, Randy Ginn and Robby Guest. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Black, Colby Sanders, Eli Black and Sam Black.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

NEW ALBANY – James Douglas “J.D.” Nesbit, 61, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1951, in Union County to Earnest Peanut Sidney Nesbit and Nazra Lee Bradley Nesbit. He was employed with Mohasco for more than 20 years. He also was a self-employed mechanic.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hwy. 178 Church of Christ. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Cook (Rolandus) Cox of New Albany; four sons, Tarvis Nesbit of Saltillo, Kevin Nesbit of Phoenix, Ariz., James Nesbit of New Albany and Jerome (Chrystal) Nesbit of Holly Springs; a sister, Nellie Nesbit of Tupelo; brothers, William (Ruby) Nesbit of Memphis, Narvel (Earlene) Nesbit of New Albany and Dwayne (Linda) Nesbit of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special friend, Gloria Agnew of Booneville; nieces and nephews.

RANDOLPH – Herbert Elijah Holley, 84, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a deacon and faithful member of County Line Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at County Line Baptist Church. Bro. Chip Johnson, Bro. Rocky Watts and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three children, Linda Long of Randolph, Mary Ann Fisher (Bob) of Bolton and Steve Holley (Brenda) of Pontotoc; six grandchildren, Hollie Kidd (Benjie), Lynn Parrish (Chad), Jacob Long (Kalie), April Ruffin (Nick), Adam Holley (Melanie) and Andrew Holley; 10 great-grandchildren, Rodney, Austin, Alisha, Alex, Elizabeth, Eli, Ainsley, Mallory, Brody and Noah; and two brothers, Dean Holley (Jewell) of Randolph and Derrell Holley (Syble) of Pontotoc.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Hilda Holley; a son-in-law, Roger Long; his parents, Jim and Cora Holley; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be the men of County Line Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.
BOONEVILLE – Mary Vannette Dobbins, 72, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at home. She was born Aug. 18, 1939, to James Van and Lillian Martin Dobbins. She was a Baptist and a retired schoolteacher.
A private graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Dobbins of Glen; and her first cousin, Jane Cox Davis of Booneville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

HOUSTON – Marie Jeanette Lowrey Pumphrey, 89, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Floy Dyer Manor Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Chickasaw County to James Nathan Lowrey and Ida Alford Mooneyham. She was a member of Thorn Church of God.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Rish Crow of Okolona and Cecelia Pearson (Bob) of Houston; three sons, Raymond Pumphrey (Glenda) of Acworth, Ga., Curtis Paul Alford (Faye) of El Reno, Okla., and James David Alford of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Maxine Brown of McKenzie, Tenn., and Glenda Faye Moore of Houston; and two brothers, Otis Mooneyham (Boots) and Dale Mooneyham (Clara Mae), both of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cameron Walker Pumphrey; her parents, James Lowrey and Ida Mooneyham; her stepfather, Harvey Mooneyham; three grandchildren, Robin Rish Pennington, Chance Alford and Lindsay Reed; and one brother, Barney Lowrey.

SHANNON – William Timmon “W.T.” Neal, 47, died suddenly Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his residence. He was born Nov. 15, 1965, to Lee Albert Neal and Barbara Ann Wright Neal. He worked as a contractor for Neal Home Builders before becoming disabled.
