Albert Reedy
ABERDEEN – Albert G. Reedy, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at his home in Aberdeen. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pauline Cole
CALHOUN CITY – Pauline Cole, 79, died Aug. 6, 2010, at Baptist-Oxford. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a retired factory worker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City with Bro. Jim Vance officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Slate Springs. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Britton Cole of Calhoun City; her son, James (Wanda) Hughes of Calhoun City; her daughters, Dorothy Short of Booneville and Paulette (Lester) Lyles of Calhoun City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pete Hughes.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jessie Evans
TUPELO – Jessie J. Evans died Aug. 7, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Montgomery Mortuary Services of Houston.

Rosemary Carr
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Rosemary Dawn Carr, 36, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 25, 2010. A native of Booneville, she was a resident of Pensacola, Fla., for the past 24 years. She was a graduate of All Saints Episcopal High School in Vicksburg and had recently enrolled in college. She was an avid pet lover and found her greatest joy in raising her five children and spending time with family. Her beautiful soul touched many lives and her generous legacy will live on in the hearts of her children.
Services were Thursday, July 29, at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Interment followed at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens in Pensacola, Fla.
Survivors include a daughter, Sara, and four sons, Daniel, Destyn, Tyler and Dylan; her sister and best friend, Melodi (Clay) Johnson; nephews and niece, Joshua, Casey and Katelyn; a brother, Jason Carr; her grandmother, Ruby Roden; her aunt and uncle, Donna and Mike Carr; cousins, Brianna and Brian Leavins, Reed and Britany; an aunt, E. Ann Carr; a longtime family friend, Sonia S. Mason; and her “adopted” family, the Masons of Slidell, La., and Pensacola, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Gaye Carr; a sister, Margaret Carr; and her grandparents, E.O. Roden, and Curtis and Nina Carr.
Pallbearers were Clay Johnson, Alan Mason, Anthony Mason, Adam Mason, Devon Pawless and Bobby Spottswood.

Justin Mayo
BLACKLAND – Justin Mitchell Mayo, 26, died Friday Aug. 6, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville as a result of an accident. He attended Wheeler Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, working on cars and just being outdoors. He never met a stranger, and he enjoyed making people laugh. He loved his family and friends. He loved his daughter dearly.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kesler Funeral Home Chapel in Baldwyn with Bro. Rickey Bishop officating. Burial will be in Pratt Cemetery. Kesler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Brandy Hare Mayo of Blackland; one daughter, Riley Paige Mayo, of the home; his mother, Ann Mayo Penny (Billy) of Baldwyn; his father, Gary Mayo of Marietta; two brothers, Matthew Mayo of Wheeler and Mark Mayo (Summer) of Baldwyn; three neices, Autumn Roberson, Skylar Brooklyn Mayo and Mattie Mayo; one nephew, Dylan Mayo; and his grandmother, Gail Spirson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellis and Mary Wildmon, Howard Mayo and Marvel Dill.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Hatfield, Chad Hatfield, Alan Storey, Trent Prader, Randy Trulove and Ian McVey.
Honorary pallbearers will be his close friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bud Michael
JUMPERTOWN – Jerry C. “Bud” Michael, 69, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of Jesus Name House of Prayer, a retired law enforcement officer and former Prentiss County Sheriff.
Services will be at 11a.m. Monday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scotty Downs, Bro. Gene Coltharp and Bro. William Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kara Nell Horton Michael; one daughter, Teresa (Scotty) Downs of Blackland; two sons, Terry (Tonya) Michael and Greg (Candice) Michael, both of Blackland; three sisters, Ouida McDowell, Ressa Reese and Reba Burns, all of Jumpertown; one brother, Bobby Gene Michael of Jumpertown; six grandchildren, Christopher Robinson, Kayla Wade, Diedra Michael, Meagan Thomas, Lexi Cooper and Brady Cooper; and three great-grandchildren, Taylen Downs, Braylen Thomas and Lilly Kate Wade.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today and continue until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Madrue Thorn
RED BAY – Madrue McMurray Thorn, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at her home. She was born April 16, 1921, in Franklin County, Ala. to James Clayton and Flora Mae Thorn McMurray. She was a member of Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She attended Florence State Teachers College and taught school for a short time. After a long career at Blue Bell, she retired to the family farm with her husband. She was a member of the Alabama Lady Cattlemen’s Association. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed vacation travels throughout the Country with her family.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. J.B. Burns and Bro. Roger Wood officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Red Bay. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Gail Strickland (John B. Strickland Jr.) of Red Bay; one son, James H. “Jim” Thorn (Glenda) of Muscle Shoals; four grandchildren, John David Strickland (Malynda), Michelle Strickland Hester (Terry), Michael Andrew Strickland (Renee) and Mallory Deshea Thorn; five great-grandchildren, Austin Strickland, Ethan Strickland, Dale Hester, Laken Hester and Emma Strickland; one nephew, Mike McMurray (Beth) of Ervin, Texas; two great-nephews, Griff McMurray and Clayton McMurray; and one great-niece, Katie McMurray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Thorn; her parents; and a brother, James Columbus “J.C.” McMurray.
Pallbearers will be Junior Strickland, Michael Strickland, John David Strickland, Terry Hester, Malcom Waldrep and Dexter Waldrep.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Darryl Jackson
BOONEVILLE – Darryl Keith Jackson, 61, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at his home.
Services, with Masonic Rites, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Corinth National Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Ruth Knight
SOUTHAVEN – Annie Ruth Horton Knight, who was born into this world 74 years ago, to loving parents, Arthur Lee Horton and Annie Mae Hale Horton, left this walk of life to go be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 5, 2010. She was loved and cherished by all those who knew her, and many found great strength and provision from her. She loved playing the piano and serving her Lord at her church (where her husband was the former Pastor) and her church family at Friendship Baptist Church in Holly Springs. One of her greatest desires was serving her Lord through her music ministry.
She leaves behind her loving husband and companion of 20 years, Charles Knight; her little dog that was a constant companion, Molly; three children from her union with Harry Asburn, Paul Michael “Mike” Ausburn (Charlotte) of Olive Branch, Hugh Mitchell “Mickey” Ausburn of Ecru and Patricia Ruth Newman (Frankie) of Baldwyn; one child from her union with Charles Dovell, Charles LeRandall “Randy” Dovell (Selena); and a stepdaughter, who she raised as her own, Brenda Kay Massey (Roy) of Ecru.
She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Steven Johnson (Michelle), LeAnne Palmer (Mark), Tiffany Wilemon (Russell), Chrystal Ausburn, Kristopher Ausburn, Brittany Ausburn, Brooke Ausburn, Kasey Pulliam and Devin Dovell; nine great-grandchildren, Faith Gurley, Tristian Johnson, Drake Johnson, Cayliana Newman, Logan Palmer, Christopher Palmer, Rebecca Palmer, Dylan Wilemon and Katy Wilemon; one brother, Elbert Horton (Lynette); and four sisters, Bessie Rowland (Dan), Janette Killough (Billy), Dorothy Miller and Carol Butler (Billy).
She was preceded in death by one brother who left to be with the Lord April 3, 1999. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be at Glenfield Funeral Home in New Albany. Visitation was Saturday, Aug. 8, 2010. Services will be at 3 p.m. today.
Melvin Cox and Justin Haynes will be officiating. She will be laid to rest near her parents in Enterprise Cemetery in Enterprise. Glenfield Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

Ellehugh Standifer
TUPELO – Ellehugh Standifer died Aug. 5, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 6, 1928, the son of Chalmus and Armendia Standifer. He was a member of St. John MB Church in Shannon. In his later years, he joined Cross Pointe Ministries in Tupelo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cross Pointe Ministries Church in Tupelo with Pastor Kevin Ray officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Shannon. N.L. Jones & Son Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his three children, Ben (Cyn) Davis of Shannon, Juanita (Ronnie) Johnson of Shannon and Carolyn (Willie) Davis of Tupelo; five siblings, Clemmie Williams of Tupelo, Edward (Mary) Standifer of Verona, Ollie (George) Johnson of Tupelo, Oley (Jimmie Nell) Standifer of Pontotoc and Mattie (Lloyd) Poster of Verona; six grandchildren, Rod Davis, Kim (Rob) Clifton, Aric and Derrick Davis, all of Shannon and Leah and Sydni Davis of Tupelo; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Sims Standifer; one son, Larry Standifer; one brother, James Standifer; and two sisters, Onie Mae Hunt and Alice Clemons.
Visitation will be from noon until 4 p.m. today at the Georgia Shumpert Memorial Chapel at N.L. Jones Funeral Home in Tupelo. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time Monday.
