Glenn Wren
BOONEVILLE – Walter Glenn Wren, 73, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1938, to Clifford and Gladys Champion Wren. He was retired from the furniture industry and was a member of Church of Christ.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Rest Church of Christ with Minister Tony Brown officiating. McMillian Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Judy Wren; three daughters, Glenda Kennedy of Birmingham, Ala., Tammy Harris and Miranda (Allen) Pennington, both of Booneville; two sons, James and Jeff Wren, both of Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Mildred (Hershel) Vick of Booneville; three grandchildren, Brandi Kennedy, Lacy Cole and Troy Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Robert Wren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Jack Williams
HURRICANE – Ernie “Jack” Williams, 96, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc.

James Vandevander Sr.
SALTILLO – James W. Vandevander Sr., 75, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at his son’s residence in the Indian Hill Community. He was a retired factory worker and a salesman. He was a Baptist and enjoyed keeping up with current events.
Services will be at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Robbins and Bro. Jackie Spencer officiating with burial in the Saltillo Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons, James Vandevander Jr. of Saltillo and David Vandevander of Boliver, Tenn.; daughter, Patricia Kee of Boliver, Tenn.; brother, Richey Vandevander (Barbara) of Guntown; grandchildren, Kayla Vaughn, Aaron Vaughn, Matthew Vandevander, Mark Anthony Vandervander (Amber), Kimberly Morgan (Stephen), Sharon Kennedy (Dustin) and Chris Vandevander; two great-grandchildren, Victoria Page and Brooklyn Grace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Garland Vandevander and Minnie Goodson; and daughter-in-law, Tina Vandevander.
A joint visitation will be held 5 to 9 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Randy Vandevander, Dale Vandevander, Robert Vandevander, Mark Vandevander, Chris Vandevander and Tim Johnson.

Brenda King
BOONEVILLE – Brenda Kay King, 57, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at her home. She was born July 28, 1956, to Doyle and Agnes House Jackson. During her younger years she worked for Blue Bell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Benjamin King’s home with Bro. Bob King, Bro. Steve Wilbanks and Bro. Matt Brown officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Wiley King; two daughters, Michelle Lee King of Pocahontas, Tenn., and Sabrina Kay King of Booneville; three sons, Casey Damon (Kandi) Jackson, Benjamin Feb (Jennifer) King, and Nathan Clint (Tatum) King, all of Booneville; mother, Agnes House Jackson of Booneville; father, Doyle (Faye) Jackson of Booneville; one brother, Randy Joe Jackson of Booneville; 13 grandchildren, Di Di, Holly, Eli, Jack, Joey, Tana, Marc, Isaac, Benjamin Wiley, Malachi, Benton, Sophia and Cadynce.

Phyllis McIntyre
SOMERVILLE, Tenn. – Phylis McIntyre, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at National Healthcare Center in Somerville. She was a native of Selmer, Tenn. She was a retired nurse for Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., and a member of Somerville First Baptist Church.
Service was at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Internment was at Somerville City Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Kelley of Somerville; and sister, Dottie McClain of Corinth.

Charlie Gunn
TIPLERSVILLE – Charlie Gunn, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley.

Alma Anderson
CLEVELAND – Alma Anderson died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Fields Funeral Home of Okolona.
Opal Trice
SHANNON – Opal Trice died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born on Feb. 28, 1925, in Shannon to Willie M. Burns and Lottie M. Glass. She served as a school district employee as a service worker for several years in Chicago, Ill., and often times worked as a part-time housekeeper to support her small family.
Services are at 11 a.m. today at Red Oak Grove Holiness Church. Burial is at Johnson Chapel Church Cemetery in Shannon. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors of Tupelo are in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (David) Standley of Park Forest, Ill., Kimberly Trice-Franklin of Kentwood, Mich., and Stacie Marie Trice of Richton Park, Ill.; nine sisters, Ella V Harris of Shannon, Bernice Minor of Water Valley, Catherine (James) Brown of Water Valley, Dolly Fant of Water Valley, Shelly (Alfred) Bell of Houston, Dorothy Burns-Nelson of Shannon, Molly Simmons of Long Beach, Calif., Army Woodard of Milwaukee, Wis., and Ella Coleman of Hamilton; one brother, Willie D. Fox of Water Valley; six grandchildren, Craig, Colette, Ronald Charles, Latoya, Rikita Joyteshia and Richard Kyle; three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives.
She is preceded in death by her only son, James E. Trice; her parents; and siblings, Johnny Lee Burns, Jessie Fox Jr., T.L. Fox., R. W. Fox., Louise Campbell and Leola Pass.

Blake Martin
ALGOMA – Blake D. Martin, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at his residence. He served in the Navy during WWII. In his earlier years, he owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Ecru. He farmed and was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of Algoma Baptist Church. He loved bird hunting and crappie fishing.
Service is at 2 p.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Dr. Kermit McGregor officiating. Internment is at Williams at Gershom.
He is survived by a son, Bruce Martin (Rhonda); daughter, Shelia Martin; two grandsons, Cody Martin and Devin Martin, all of Algoma; a special friend, Willie Fay Walker; three brother-in-laws, Steve (Patricia) Weeks of Noxapater, Sherald (Phoebe) Weeks of Houlka and Terry (Eldrice) Weeks of Pontotoc; two sister-in-laws, Linda Weeks of Algoma and Linda Weeks of Houlka; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Weeks Martin; his parents, Dewey Webster Martin and Ruby Guthrie Martin; two infant brothers, Jack Edward Martin and Loyd Everett Martin; sister-in-law, Diane Weeks; and brothers-in-law, Phil Weeks and Noel Weeks.
Pallbearers are Gerald Weeks, Milfy Weeks, Kevin Weeks, Tommy Caldwell, Steve Faulkner and Cully Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Zach Priest and Jimmy Sewell.

Frankie Frazier
WOODLAND – Frankie Mae Johnson Frazier, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at her residence. She was born Aug. 6, 1942, in Aberdeen, to Joseph Franklin Lee Johnson and Effie Mae Johnson. She was a homemaker. She had lived in Woodland for the past 17 years.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Franklin Frazier “Nick” of Woodland; two daughters, Julia Dukes (Albert) of Avon and Mary Newman (Larry) of Woodland; three sons, Walter Frazier of Woodland, Willie Frazier (Sara) of Pocahontas, Ark., and Robert Lumkin of Elizabeth; two sisters, Katie Warren of Aberdeen and Dorothy Johnson of Houston; two brothers, Jeff Johnson of Collins and James Johnson of Houston; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Albert Dukes Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Michael Newman, Larry Newman lll, Larry Newman Jr., Charles Dobbins, Calvin Frazier and Robert Hinton. Honorary pallbearer will be Samuel Frazier.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home.

Roy Plaxco
CORINTH – Roy E. Plaxco, 87, died Aug. 10, 2012, at his residence. He was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Biggersville, to Walter and Ella Plaxco. He retired as a master machinist from Tyrone Hydraulics. Before going to work at Tyrone, he worked many trades over the years as a barber, on a cattle ranch, coal miner and with the Corinth Fire Dept. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corps, being discharged with the rank of Sgt. He was a member of Gaines Chapel Methodist Church, American Legion VFW and the 40 and 8.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors with the Rev. Heath Lovelace officiating and Leland Hendrix offering the eulogy. Burial with military honors will be in the Corinth National Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter June Plaxco of Corinth; his sister Elsie P. Grimes of Corinth; special nephew, Jim Plaxco of Schaumberg, Ill.; special friends, Lynda Whitfield, Ken Carter, Leland Hendrix, and Leslie Dawson Bivens; and a host of other family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Inez North Plaxco; his parents; sister, Doris Grimes; and brothers, Gene and J.M. Plaxco.
U.S. Marine Corps League will serve as pallbearers.

Shelby Kendall
SALTILLO – Shelby Jean Kendall, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. She worked in the garment factories until her retirement. She enjoyed going to the mountains, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and always looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Merle Floyd and Bro. Mark Barnett officiating. Burial will be in the Campbelltown cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Kendall of Saltillo; daughter, Mary Ann Barnett (Sammy) of Guntown; three sons, Tommy Kendall (Terri) of Saltillo, Marshall Kendall (Vicki) of Guntown and Gerald Kendall (Penny) of Saltillo; three sisters, Sabina Smith, Shirley Malone and Frances Twifford (Hunter); three brothers, C.A. Dill (Faye), David Dill (Barbara) and James Dill (Edna); grandchildren, Melissa Gibson (Bryant), Ashley White (Doug), Angela Fogg (Rickey), Kristy Barnett, David Kendall (Molly), Corey Barnett, Aaron Barnett, Madison Kendall, Caleb Kendall, Gavin Kendall, Olivia Kendall and Kyle Eaton; great-grandchildren, Jessica Buchanan, Amanda Gibson, Lexie White, Kendal-Bailie White, Kemper Moore, Lexie Fogg and Austin Moore; and great-great-grandchild, Andrew Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Luella Smith Dill; daughter, Sandra Kendall; and brothers, Paul Dill and Glen Dill.

MATHISTON – Birdie B. Weeks, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Blythe Creek Cemetery in Choctaw County. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of all arrangements.

Tina Vandevander
SALTILLO – Tina Harris Vandevander, 52, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at her home after an extended illness. She was a Christian wife, step-mother and grandmother. She was a friend to anyone she met. She was full of spirit and love. She loved to share her love of the Lord to all who would listen. She was passionate about singing Gospel music. Tina leaves behind a very special friend in Cindy Buzan. Tina would look at the clock every day anticipating Cindy’s call. They would spend time laughing and talking about girl stuff. She was born May 27, 1960 in Loretto, Tenn. She loved to sing Gospel music, Mission work and loving her grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. officiating. Burial will be in the Saltillo city cemetery.
Survivors include her husband James Vandevander of Saltillo, her step-children, Mark Vandevander & Amber of Guntown, Kim Morgan & Steven of Saltillo, Sharon Kennedy & Dustin of Guntown and Chris Vandevander of Guntown, 2 Grandchildren, Victoria Vandevander and Brooklyn Kennedy, her Father, Russell Sims & Shirley of Lawrenceburg, TN, Her sisters & Brothers, Dianne Hollis & Jim of Athens, AL, Linda Baughn & Jerry of Muscle Shoals, AL, Ronnie Sims of Collinwood, TN and Bobby Sims of Huntsville, AL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Doris Sims and her first husband Larry K. Harris
