RICHMOND COMMUNITY – Elroise “Buddy” Gray, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Germantown Methodist Hospital. He was born June 13, 1931, to Lucine Christian Gray and Archie Samuel Gray.
Buddy married Sarah Williams on March 18, 1951. Together they raised three daughters.
He was the oldest active member at Evergreen Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for the past fifty years.
He attended Itawamba County Schools and worked for Tupelo Manufacturing Company for sixty years, retiring at age eighty.
An avid Mississippi State fan, he lived to watch his grandson, Caleb, play travel baseball. His last games to attend were in July in Orlando, Florida at the USSSA Elite World Series at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Buddy is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Sarah Gray; three daughters, Patti Rowan of the Richmond Community, Mitzi Bridges (Jim) of Germantown, Tennessee and Vicki Goddard (Larry) of Tupelo; two granddaughters, Melissa Metcalfe and Melinda McKnight of Palmetto; one grandson, Caleb Gray Goddard of Tupelo; three great-granddaughters, Hannah McKnight, Katie Linley and Megan Linley of Palmetto; two step-grandsons, Jeremy Bridges (Marsha) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Shane Bridges of Harrison, Arkansas; seven step-grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Allison, Alex, Katlyn, Taylor, and Addison Bridges; one sister, Mayola Robinson (Kutah); one brother, Wayne Gray (Agnes) all of Fulton; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Williams of Richmond Community and Ruby Gray of Dorsey; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Christi Gray; one infant granddaughter, Christi Gray Goddard; his parents; one sister, Sandra Dulaney; four brothers, Coy, Douglas, J.T. and James Oye Gray; two brothers-in-law, Benny Williams of Richmond Community and John Rheaume of Bartlett, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Burma Rheaume of Bartlett, Tennessee.
A celebration of Buddy’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Mike Yielding, Bro. Mike Todd and Bro. Bobby Robbins officiating. Special music will be by his son-in-law, Larry Goddard and harpist, Cindy Mathis. Family reflections will be given by his son-in-law, Jim Bridges. A graveside and interment will follow at Walton Cemetery in Peppertown.
Pallbearers will be Marty Gray, Mitchie Gray, Jake Gray, Cebron Gray, J.C. Holloway and Jeffrey Holloway.

Jimmie N. Miles
WREN – Jimmie Newton Miles, 88, died on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at his residence. Born on August 20, 1924, in Hatley, he was a son of the late Woodruff Eli “Rusty” and Cora Pernie Davis Miles.
Mr. Miles was a graduate of Trace Road School and ICC. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he served in the 198th Tank Battalion 31st Infantry Division and after returning home, he continued to serve in the Army National Guard. On April 29, 1950, he married Willie Lois Bennett. Working together with his wife, they owned Bill and Jim’s Friendship House and Jimmie’s Fish Products Wholesale Fish. Loving God and Country, Mr. Miles was a member of Trace Road Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner with the York Rite. Passionate about his family and his military service, Mr. Miles enjoyed fishing with his lifelong friends, spending time with his family, and Southern Gospel and Country music. Never meeting a stranger, he loved to tell stories about the Good Old Days and Army life.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Lois ‘Bill’ Miles of Wren; daughter, Stephina Fowlkes (Doug) of Wren; son, Vincent Miles (Peggy Thompson) of Wren; brother, Billy Miles (Edith) of Verona; grandchildren, Neil Palmer of Birmingham, AL, Will Fowlkes of Aberdeen, Austin Miles of Aberdeen, and Katie Clark (Barrett) of Aberdeen; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Barrett Clark; nieces and nephews, Linda Shephard (Dan) of Smithville, Van Miles (Nancy) of Starkville, and Ken Miles (Kathy) of Verona; and special family friends, Dorothy Mosley and Pete Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillie Mae Blake and Louise Powell; nieces, Nancy Miles and Paulette Gosa Miller; great-niece, Mary E. Miller; and great-nephews, Frankie and Jerome Miller; and special friend, Curtis Keeton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, August 19, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Davis and Bro. Eric Keeton officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.

Ruth Dale Roebuck
TUPELO – Ruth Dale Roebuck, 83, died Saturday, August, 17, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
She was born November 14, 1929, in Saltillo, Mississippi to Marzee Dillard Riley and Lee Riley. She was a member and attended Saltillo First United Methodist Church until her failing health, which kept her home bound for several years.
After graduating from Tupelo High School in 1948, she worked in sales and bookkeeping for a lady’s ready-to-wear store. After marriage, and until she and her husband had their first child, she worked as a billing clerk for an automobile finance company.
On April 7, 1949, she married Claude Morgan Roebuck. She and her husband of 64 years had three children: Claudia Ruth Roebuck Castenir (Dennis) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Alice Lynn Roebuck of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Morgan Dale Roebuck who died in infancy.
Ruth Dale enjoyed her role as homemaker and stay at home mother for her daughters. She loved her family and took great joy in doing things that made them happy. She was an avid reader and, no doubt, read thousands of books. Her reading helped make it possible for her to frequently answer questions on quiz shows before the contestants.
Graveside services for family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Tupelo Memorial Gardens on Joyner St. Visitation will be from 5PM-7PM today (Monday) at Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel, which is entrusted with all arrangements. The family will greet friends on Tuesday immediately after the graveside service.
Survivors include her husband, Claude; daughters, Alice and Claudia (Dennis): two grandsons, Adam Castenir (Jenny) and Jason Castenir; three great grandchildren, Josiah Castenir, Hadley Castenir and Harper Castenir; one sister, Virginia Roe of Tupelo, and a host of nieces and nephews several of whom were very attentive and helpful during the time of Ruth Dale’s failing health.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Morgan, and one sister, Mary Helen Young.

AMORY – Micheal Lane Steinke, 25, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013. Born Nov. 9, 1987, in Amory, he was the son of Kenneth Lane and Mary Jo Hall Steinke. He grew up in Amory and attended Hatley School. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a previous member of Wildwood Chapel Baptist Church. He co-owned Steinke Construction and Steinke Lawn and Handy Man Service with his father. Having a heart of gold filled with generosity, he would help anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting, riding four wheelers, and hanging out with his family and friends, especially his nieces, Trinity, Dakota, and Harley. He was an avid MSU fan, and he will be remembered for his goodness and his contagious smile.

FULTON – Troy Wayne Dill, 84, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in Iuka. He was born June 26, 1929, to Troy Dill and Reba Cooksey Dill. He retired from Action Lane after 31 years of service. He was a member of Fulton Free Will Baptist Church, and he enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He was an avid MSU Bulldog fan.

TUPELO – Merle Rogers, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Piave to Robert Ford and Nellie Burns Mapp Boutwell. She was a graduate of Runnelstown High School and Bloomfield College. She was a registered nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center for 32 years, retiring in 1991 as the Affiliate Hospital Nursing Director. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo, and she loved to play bridge.
Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Glenn (Dale) of Mooreville; her son, William R. “Dick” Rogers of Tupelo; a daughter-in-law, Roberta F. Rogers of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess B. Rogers Sr.; her son, Jesse Byron Rogers Jr.; and a brother, Robert F. Boutwell Jr.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MOOREVILLE – Doris Richey, 67, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Starkville to Henry Alvin and Helen Louise Ellington Ivy. She was a longtime employee of Tecumseh Products and worked later for Daybrite. She was a Baptist. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, watching TV and shopping off of the Home Shopping Network. She also loved her cats.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Richey of Mooreville; three step-sons, David Richey (Wendy) of Auburn, Jimmy Richey (Janet) of Tupelo and Sean Richey (Tammy) of Saltillo; one brother, Billy Ivy (Retha) of Wyatte; four sisters, Nora Beauchamp of Moss Point, Mary Cox (Bobby) of New Albany, Evelyn Ivy (Phil) of Myrtle and Betty Hall (Wayne) of Ecru; seven grandchildren, Kelly Summers (Chris), Leighanna Witt (Ryan), Teri Richey, Austin Richey, Alex Richey, Ashton Richey and Lauren Richey; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Alisa Russell; and three siblings, Jimmy Ivy, Johnny Ivy and Berneice Nobles.
Pallbearers will be John Ivy, Adam Hardy, Tony Ivy, Alex Ivy, David Sansing, Rob Nobles, Mike Nobles and Chris Dye.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Hardin, Josh Hardin and Doug Griffin.
