TUPELO – Albert Marion Harris Jr, 78, died Aug. 1, 2010, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Holland Funeral Directors–Tupelo Chapel.

CORINTH – Jo Ann Hudson, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at Jackson Madison County General in Jackson, Tenn.
There will be a private family service. Burial will be in Snowdown Methodist Church Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CORINTH – Israel Lytal, 28, died July 31, 2010, at his home.

Jimmy Weeks
CALHOUN CITY – Jimmy Howard Weeks, 77, died July 30, 2010, in Calhoun City. He was a heavy equipment operator, and he loved to hunt.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Pete Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Loyd Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his son, Leslie H. Weeks (Amy); his sisters, Christine Watson of Oxford and Lanell Harris of Oxford; his brother, Delmer Weeks of Water Valley; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Weeks; his parents, George and Irene Weeks; and his siblings, Charlene Hollinger, Elmer Weeks and Georgia Harris.
Pallbearers will be Derek Adams, Jeff Hodges, Robery Grier, Johnny Knighton, Brad Smith and Keith Parker.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home and at 5:30 p.m. today at the cemetery.

Wilmer Baker
VARDAMAN – Wilmer Davis Baker, 74, died July 31, 2010, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Dec. 13, 1935 in Chickasaw County. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a factory worker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman with the Rev. J.R. Eaton officiating and the Rev. Earl Alexander assisting. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Reita Lofton Baker of Vardaman; his daughter, Lisa (Junior) Sutherland of Vardaman; his son, Ricky (Gina) Baker of Big Creek; his sisters, Ouida Marshall of Vardaman, Margaret Simmons of Grenada and Bonnie Rodgers of Calhoun City; his brothers, James Baker of Eupora and Charlie Baker of Calhoun City; six grandchildren, Erica (Kenneth) Scott, Parker Davis Baker, Ginah Grayce Baker, Jacob “Jake” Baker, Matt Bollinger and Colby Bollinger; and four great-grandchildren, Tate, Kyleigh and Landen Scott and Baylee Ray Bollinger.
Pallbearers will be David Marshall, James Baker, William Lee Rodgers, Stacy Hawks, David Lee Jr., Brandon Lee, Ky Norwood and Paul Johnson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lynn Hill
MANTACHIE – Cherion Lynn Hill, 65, of the Ratliff Communtiy, went to live in her eternal home with Jesus on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She had been blessing lives since Feb. 24, 1945, when she was born to Luther and Pearl Davis of Baldwyn. Lynn was retired from Daybrite after 26 years of service, where she had many wonderful friends throughout the years. She was a member of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and garden and most of all, spending time with her family. She brightened up the world with her kind, caring heart and her love of laughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Fred Hartley and Bro. Mark Tutor officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.
She leaves behind two daughters, Sherry (Kerry) Fowler of the Ratliff Community and Tonya (Bro. Jacky) Byrd of Mantachie; her father and mother, Luther and Pearl Davis; the father of her children, Jerry Dee Hill, all of Baldwyn; five grandchildren, Mallory Fowler, Makayla Fowler, Madison Fowler, Austin Byrd and Colton Byrd; four sisters, Charlotte Pannell of New Albany, Shelby (Jimmy) Hardin of Blue Springs, Dixie (Bro. Dwight) Scott of Baldwyn and Tammy (Jeff) White of Guntown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Edmond Pannell; a nephew, Luke Pannell; her paternal grandparents, Marshall and Mary Davis; and her maternal grandparents, Sam and Lonnie Hall.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Eric Scott, Eddie Scott, Joe Sam Scott, Richard Pannell, Gred Fondren, Tracy Fondren, Chad Fondren and Hunter White.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Thomas
MOOREVILLE – Robert Nelken Thomas, 88, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Sherman to Lester and Mary Thomas. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Navy. He retired from Memphis Light, Gas and Water after 29 years of service. After retirement, he moved to Mississippi where he was the co-founder of Old Southern Pine Log Homes in Mooreville. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. He was a member of Dixie Sky Devils.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley Thomas of Mooreville; his daughter, Pam Sorrows (Jim) of Kathleen, Ga.; two sons, Bobby Thomas (Suzanne) and Danny Thomas (Marthe), all of Saltillo; his sister, Sarah Easterling of Satillo; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Lester Boone.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Lora Stockton
GOLDEN – Lora Jean Stockton, 48, died July 31, 2010, at her home. She was born July 24, 1962, in Tupelo to John and Burton Ashley Stockton. She was a member of the Community Center Baptist Church. She was the office manager for Digby Dental Care in Fulton. She enjoyed listening to and singing gospel and contemporary music.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Raper and Bro. Barry Lofton officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Meghan Appino of Mooreville; one granddaughter, Isabella Holcomb; her parents, John and Burton Ashley Stockton; her fiancee, Gary Armstrong of Red Bay; one brother, Johnny (Mary Jo) Stockton of Golden; and one sister, Donna (Danny) Abbott of Golden.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela Kay Stockton.
Pallbearers will be Chris Brazil, D.J. Elrod, Josh Smart, Joel Smart, Tom Elrod and Ed Elrod.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jason Digby and the Staff of Digby Dental Care.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bettie Huffstatler
PONTOTOC – Bettie Beatrice Griffin Huffstatler, 86, died July 31, 2010, at Sunshine Rest Home in Pontotoc. She was a Methodist. She was a retired home health care worker and factory worker. She was a loving mother who loved her children and grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Bro. Billy Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, David “Bo” Huffstatler and Jim Henry of Finger, Tenn.; two daughters, Mary Henry of Southaven and Donna Bukovac of Shawnee, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. “John” Huffstatler; one granddaughter, Marcy Garner; four brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Terry Huffstatler, Justin Gatewood, Chad Gatewood and Bill Huffstatler.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Joel Spradling
MANTACHIE – Joel Spradling, 73, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at his home surrounded by all his family. He was born Feb. 15, 1937, to Omar and Delsie McFerrin Spradling. He worked at Rich Industries and Mid-South Packer before working 35 years with Tombigbee Electric Power Association. He was a member of the Fawn Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He served as a trustee of Itawamba Community College for several years. He was a proud supporter of the Mantachie High School FFA and was the 2010 recipient of the Eagle Award given by the club. He dearly loved his family and grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends; in addition to, gardening and bee keeping.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fawn Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Booker, Bro. J.V. Mills and Bro. Castor Buse officiating. Burial will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Franks Spradling; one son, Andy (Shelia) Spradling; one daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Tigner, all of Mantachie; two brothers, Don (Pat) Spradling of Mantachie and Trenton (Carolyn) Spradling of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Rena Grimes of Mantachie; four grandchildren, Andrew (Michelle) Tigner, John (Jessica) Tigner, Thomas Spradling and Matt Spradling; and two great-grandchildren, Luke Tigner and Isaac Tigner.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; and two brothers, Randall Spradling and Billy Spradling.
Pallbearers will be Wes Pitts, Chris Dickinson, Mark Spradling, Michael Sullivan, Jeff Franks, Timmy Red Spradlin, C.W. Franks and Joseph Rogers.

Gilma McRae
BATON ROUGE, La. – Gilma “Gil” McRae, 85, a native of Tishomingo County and a resident of Baton Rouge died Friday, July 30, 2010. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a retired area supervisor with BREC and a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Baptist Church in Tishomingo with the Rev. Eddie Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Tishomingo City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Russell McRae; her children, Richard R. McRae Jr. (Dianne), Pamela Wales (David) and Sharon Kaye Gros (Dennis); her grandchildren, Paige Bartholomew, Sean “Rusty” McRae, Danielle Price and Meghan Gros; her great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Patrick Bartholomew; three sisters, Edna Earl Pennington, Mary Shaw and Sandra Velazquez; and two brothers, Jimmy Dale Coker and Bill Coker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Grace Coker; her sisters; Ollie Mae Blunt, Johnnie Blunt and Nelda Johnson; and brother, N.C. Coker.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont. The body will lie-in-state from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Baptist Church.

Doyle Cliett
MONTPELIER – Doyle G. Cliett, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. He was born July 5, 1920, in Montpelier to Dora Mary Gosa and Jewel Carlton Cliett. He was a parts manager for Farm Equipment Company in Tunica until his retirement. He attended Palestine United Methodist Church after returning to Montpelier. His first wife, Sally Manning Cliett preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 1966. He married Mary Barger Cliett on March 15, 1980, she passed away on March 16, 2004.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Palestine Cemetery near Montpelier with the Rev. Cary Sutphin officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty C. Dabbs of Amory; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Stewart of Lamar and Mary McPherson of Drummonds, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Sally Axton and Suzanne Shrum; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will follow the graveside service Tuesday at the Palestine United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mary Johns
SHERMAN – Mary Kathryn Goughnour Johns, 85, died July 31, 2010, at her home in Sherman after a brief illness. She was a retired seamstress for the furniture business for over 30 years. She was born in the state of Idaho in the year of 1925 and was raised in Kansas by John and Alice Goughnour. She had lived in Sherman since 1965. She was a member of Sherman United Methodist Church where she played the organ. She loved reading, crocheting, working all kind of word puzzles and zig-saw puzzles. She loved her flowers and the special time spent with her family. She was the widow of Charles Everett Johns to whom she was married to for 53 years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors with the Rev. Sammy Coker officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheela Hamblin of Tupelo; three sons, Gerald Johns and his wife, Patricia of Tupelo, Ricky Johns and his wife, Frankie of Tupelo and Terry Johns of Sherman; one brother, Sherrell Hunt of Anaheim, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Marsh Burchfield and her husband, Lanny of Pinedale, Jana Pettit and her husband, Keith of Houston, Lori Gann and her husband, Mike of Pontotoc, Scotty Johns and his wife, Cory of Atlanta, Andy Johns, Shane Johns, both of Tupelo, Brad Lanphere of Saltillo and Ashley Treadaway of Sherman; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, John Everett “John” Johns; and two sisters.
