William Baggett
CORINTH – William “Gene” Baggett, 80, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Mississippi Care Center in Corinth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McPeters Chapel with burial in the Antioch No. 2 Cemetery near Rienzi. McPeters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marilyn Higgins
FLORENCE, ALA. – Marilyn Joyce Higgins, 56, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Terry Windham
RIENZI – Terry Wayne “Little Vee” Windham, 61, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was born May 14, 1948, in Prentiss County to the late Phil and Vera Windham. He was disabled, but spent most of his working life as a chef. He was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed cooking and fishing.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Bowling officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by one daughter, Wendy; one son, David; three sisters, Eunice Robinson and Joyce Green (Wayne), both of Booneville and Carol Coley (Bud) of Tupelo; two brothers, Bobby Windham and Frankie Windham, both of Booneville; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Norma Stoop and Linda Windham; and one brother, Charles Windham.
His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and will continue until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Twilton Lockhart
MEMPHIS, TENN. – Twilton N. Lockhart, 73, formerly of Taylor, died Saturday, August 01, 2009, at his sister’s residence in Taylor. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Oxford.
Joan Rakestraw
BOONEVILLE – Joan Elizabeth Bolton Rakestraw died Friday, July 10, 2009, at her California home where she had moved to be near her son and his family. She was born May 25, 1928, in Red Bay, Ala., to Clovis Wickliffe and Mary Tesch Bolton. She received her degree from MUW and began her career as a chemist in Birmingham, Ala., at age 20. She later worked in administration at Mississippi State University. She moved to Booneville in 1960 and was the Registrar at Northeast Mississippi Community College for approximately 23 years. She was a member of the Booneville Presbyterian Church, serving as the organist for many years and as clerical assistant to the pastors. She had been a member of the Session since 1990. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women and served as president of the local group for some time. She also served on the Coordinating Team of Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of St. Andrew. She was a member of the DAR and the UDC for many years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Booneville Presbyterian Church. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Keith Kelley (Monica); grandson, Bolton R. Kelley; her eldest brother, Dr. Jordan T. Bolton; two sisters-in-law, Nell Slawson and Sue Pennington; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Rakestraw; her brother, Charles Bolton; and her sister, Lynne Bolton McGuire.
Visitation with the family will continue after the services on Tuesday.

CORINTH – Gregory Phillip Agnew died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center after a brief illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Grayson’s Funeral Services of Corinth.
Laura McCaskill
TUPELO – Laura Rhudy McCaskill, 96, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Cedars Heathcare Center after an extended illness. She was born in the Brewer Community to Jim H. and Mary Lee Porter Rhudy. She worked at Reed’s Manufacturing. She had lived at Cedars Health Center since February 2006. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church in Plantersville and the widow of Edward McCaskill, who preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1972.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Alton Elrod officiating and the eulogy by Eddie McCaskill. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald McCaskill (Ruth) of Southaven and Grady McCaskill (Jane) of Saltillo; one daughter, Sue Bedford (Leroy) of Skyline; six grandchildren, Eddie McCaskill (Gay) of Athens, Ga., Jerry McCaskill ( Beth) of Nashville, Tenn., Jefferey McCaskill (Renae) of Olive Branch, Leroy Bedford Jr. (Karen) of Memphis, Tenn., Barry Bedford of Mooreville and Teresa Aldridge (David) of Tremont; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Shelly Matthews and Jean McCaskill, both of Birmingham, Ala., and Earline McCaskill of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two granddaughters, Sherry and Karen McCaskill; five sisters, Essie Deaton, Zera Owens, Ethel Edwards, Vera McCormick and Jimmie Edwards; and three brothers, Clifton, Carlos and Ray Rhudy.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Eddie McCaskill, Jerry McCaskill, Jefferey McCaskill, Leroy Bedford Jr., Barry Bedford and David Aldridge.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews and members of Center Hill Baptist Church.

TISHOMINGO – Frances Fuller, 70, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was a lifelong member of Tishomingo Baptist Church. She was formerly employed at Blue Bell Manufacturing and was a homemaker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tishomingo Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Crane and Bro. Bobby Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Ray Fuller of Tishomingo; three daughters, Tammie Haskins (Tommy) of Hohenwald, Tenn., Lana Cass (Dan Finch) of Iuka and Cheryl Bennett (Roger) of Russellville, Ala.; one sister, Claudie Mae Griffin (Gaines) of Tishomingo; and three grandchildren, Lindsay Ware (Larkin) of Flowood and Shelby Cox and Austin Bennett, both of Russellville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Annie Mae Bolton; and a granddaughter, Kristin Cass.
Pallbearers will be Benny McClung, Danny McClung, Richard Butler, Anthony Stone, Mark Daily and John Savoy.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tishomingo Baptist Church.

CALHOUN CITY – Roy E. “Pete” McCrory, 64, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born August 13, 1944, in Memphis, Tenn. He was a self employed veteran of the Mississippi National Guard and a member of Cherry Road Baptist Church of Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with Rev. Jimmy Vance and Rev. John Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Springs Cemetery in Derma. Pryor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Mabel Proctor McCrory of Calhoun City; his wife, Charlotte McCrory of Calhoun City; daughter, Leslie Haire (Jeffery) of Saltillo; brother, Michael McCrory (Vee) of Little Rock, Ark.; sister, Sandra Brown (Thomas) of Brentwood, Tenn.; a special brother-in-law, Jackie Mann (Beverly) of Houlka; and three grandchildren, Caleb, Cohen and Cylee Haire.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. McCrory Sr.
Pallbearers will be Scott McCrory, Chase Huffman, Bit Shankles, Robert Hamblin, Johnathan Huffman and Tommy Keown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Tyler, Billy Parker, Richard Vanlandingham and Paul Lowe.

CORINTH – Vera B. Copeland, 67, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Cornerstone Health and Rehab in Corinth.
Services will be at 12 p.m. at the Parkway Church of Christ with burial in the Forrest Hill Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

CORINTH – JoAnn McDonald White Ledbetter, 83, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Cornerstone Health and Rehab.
