HAMILTON – Fletcher R. Lindsey, 58, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was a member of Bethel M.B. Church in Hamilton. An avid motorcyclist, he was a member of the Easy Riders Motorcycle Club.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethel M.B. Church. The Rev. Robert Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

PONTOTOC – John Marshall “Ham” Hurd Jr, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Pontotoc Nursing Home. A native of Pontotoc, he was the son of the late John Marshall Hurd Sr. and Polly Hurd. He loved to fish, garden and help people.

IUKA – Bobby Lee James, 76, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his residence. He was a member of Iuka Baptist Church. He was a former law enforcement officer for the City of Iuka and the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Dept. He was the former owner and operator of B.J.’s Corner Café. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf, and he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports.
Services are scheduled for 11a.m. Monday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Bro. Shandy Dill will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby James of Iuka; two daughters, Shelaine Butler (James) and Beverly Butler (Jeff), all of Iuka; three brothers, Buddy James and Scotty James, both of Iuka, and Larry “Tootie” James of Euless, Texas; two sisters, Betty Hill of Iuka and Janie Marlow of Euless, Texas; and four grandchildren, Gable Butler, Cade Butler, Jake Butler and Mattie Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gresham and Lucille James; and a brother, Danny James.

Bobby Plaxico II
AMORY – Bobby Wayne “B.W.” Plaxico II, 34, died on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on Oct. 18, 1978, in Amory, he was a son of Glenda Carolyn Mathis Plaxico and Bobby Wayne Plaxico. He went to school at Amory, Hatley, ICC and MSU. He was a former assistant manager with Pizza Hut and was a chef-in-training at Cracker Barrel. He was of the Baptist faith. Teaching himself to play guitar, he enjoyed recording music, writing songs, and playing in the bands Addiction Device, Kill J and Applestein. Fun-loving, kind-hearted and a big bundle of joy, he was passionate about children’s hospitals and his music, and he enjoyed cooking, especially grilling steaks, and rock, Indie and country music.
He is survived by his mother, Glenda Plaxico of Amory; his father, Bobby Wayne Plaxico (Kathy) of Aberdeen; brother, James Benjamin “Benji” Powell (Becky) of Aberdeen; niece and nephews, Rebecca Shae Davis, Boyce Brandon, Lee Neal and James Matthew Powell; special friends, Tom Evans and Richard “Bruh” Stockton; an aunt, Wanda Plaxico; an uncle, Jimmy Plaxico; and cousins, Richard Walters, Debbie Walters-Thompson and Poncho Plaxico.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Neal; his grandmothers, Mary Mathis Plaxico and Verde Plaxico; and his grandfathers, Leslie Mathis and Henry Plaxico.

NEW ALBANY – David Louis Spight, 76, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born June 2, 1936, in Marion, Ark., to Gracie Watt and the late Earnest Spight. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Watson Grove Baptist Church. He retired from General Motors in Flint, Mich., in 1992 and moved back to New Albany to enjoy his love of fishing.

MEMPHIS – Gilbert N. Drummond, 76, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. He was a retired butcher from Kroger.
He is survived by one daughter, Karen Burke (Danny); a son-in-law, Robert Shreve; two sisters, Gail Freeman (Devon) and Marie Warrington (Mike); five nieces and nephews, Mark Warrington, Michele Hill, Steve and Terry Freeman, and Lisa Norwood.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Shreve; and parents, Lewis and Jewel Drummond.

FULTON – Janice G. Bowen, 65, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012. She was born Aug. 6, 1947, to George Gordon and Ruby Wright Bowen in Fulton. She graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1965 and Itawamba Junior College in 1967. She loved music and dancing, and she was an avid collector of antiques. She was fond of all animals and loved to work outdoors in her yard. She was always energetic and outgoing with a smile for everyone, with her life being lived by the Golden Rule. She was employed for 46 years with Tupelo’s BancorpSouth, where she held many job titles before achieving her title of first vice president at the bank’s Operation Center. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

AMORY – Kenneth Wilson Coxey, 61, died on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his residence. Born on Jan. 3, 1951, in Tokyo, Japan, he was the son of the late Eugene Wilson and Fumiko Coxey. He grew up and attended school in Dayton, Tenn. Moving to Amory in 1971, he farmed and retired from Bahaus Furniture Manufacturing with more than 20 years of service. He attended Bethel Apostolic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren, assembling model cars, playing games, fishing and motorcycle riding.
He is survived by a daughter, Charlene Holt (Joe) of Booneville; sons, Tony Coxey of Amory, Michael Coxey (Ashley) of Pontotoc and Craig Coxey (Angie) of Smithville; grandchildren, Laura, Amber, Joseph and Audriana Holt, Elizabeth Pruitt, Ashley Morris, Justin, Michael, Brian, Abbi and Cameron Coxey.

OKOLONA – Bonnie Sue Workman West, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at her home. She was born Aug. 24, 1940, in Auto, W.Va., to Andrew Jackson Workman and Gladys Ellen Hansen Workman. She worked as a secretary for Lee County Cooperative Extension for many years. A longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church in Tupelo, she taught the 5-year-old Sunday School class for more than 30 years. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Okolona. She enjoyed taking care of her dogs and cats. Her family remembers her as an avid story teller and a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eric Boykin officiating. Private Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

She retired from First National Bank in Pontotoc after 34 years. She loved gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being with family.

She was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church and a retired schoolteacher. She loved God and her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and her flowers.

BALDWYN – Billy J. Houston, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born July 11, 1930, in Ozark community of Itawamba County to Charlie and Belvie Waddel Houston. He retired after 30 years of service and maintenance at American Motors in Kenosha, Wis. He was a member of Kirkville Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.

HOLLY SPRINGS – James Howell, 40, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Collierville Health and Rehab Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Serenity Funeral Home of Holly Springs.
NEW ALBANY – Alice Brown, 91, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by United Funeral Service of New Albany.
PONTOTOC – Grace Madglene “Madge” Tackitt Holcomb, 76, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc. She was born April 7, 1936, to Carl and Suphrona Tackitt.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in the Eddington Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Chapman (Gerald) and Judy Holcomb (Bobby) of Pontotoc; one son, Tim Holcomb (Patty) of Chickasaw County; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Avis Reynolds of Pontotoc and Evelyn Huffman of Houston; one brother, Billy Tackitt of Pontotoc; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, J.C. Tackitt and W.L. Tackitt; one granddaughter, Shasta McGloflin; one nephew, Danny Tackitt; and the father of her children, David Holcomb.
Pallbearers will be Steve Huffman, Phillip Tackitt, Kevin Tackitt, Dennis Reynolds, Toby Reynolds and Mark Holcomb.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.
BURNSVILLE – Reba Mae Wamsley Flanagan, 87, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was a member of the Tishomingo Gospel Light House Pentecostal Church and a retired employee of Benchmark.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Tishomingo Gospel Light House Pentecostal Church with Bro. William H. Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Church of God Cemetery.
She was survived by two daughters, Ruthie (Randy) Slack and Rita Hughes Estes, both of Jacinto; three sisters, Helen (Billy) Glidewell, Frances Shaw and Flora (Ronnie) Brand, all of Corinth; five grandchildren, Shawna Slack, Jeb Slack, Richard Wilkins, Ryan Hughes and Jonathan Hughes; and three great-grandchildren, Jason Stone Hughes, Samantha Michelle Hughes and Katie Wilkins; and a special niece, Margie Bain.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cordie Evetts; her stepfather, Calvin Evetts; two daughters, Vedie Verline Flanagan and Dorothy Lynn Wilkins; one brother, Ted Wamsle; one brother-in-law, Billy Shaw; one stepdaughter, Weatha Dingler; and one stepson, Stevie Flanagan.
Pallbearers will be Jeb Slack, Richard Wilkins, Ryan Hughes, Jonathan Hughes, Tommy Chelmowski and Stanley Barnes.
