MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Mary Ellen “Maggie” Harrison Root, 91, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Mary Ellen became a national celebrity in 1955 by becoming Kellogg’s “Miss Good Morning.” She was also active in many civic organizations including United Fund, March of Dimes and the Boy Scouts of America for nearly 50 years. A beloved mother, Mary Ellen was a true southern belle. The heavens are now filled with the aroma of her cooking! Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all she touched.
Her funeral and committal service were held on Friday, November 23 at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Chimes in Brookfield, Wis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating.
She is survived by her sons, Bradley, James and Roger (Dawn); proud grandma of Ryan, Lance, Todd and Rachel; a sister, Ruth “G” Torrey; her best friends, Lynn and Debbie, and Cora Lee Rogers; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Amory Church of Christ or Christian Chapel Church of Christ.

BOONEVILLE – Robert Lee Fryar, 68, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 18. 1944, in Prentiss County to Samuel Fryar and Katie Leach. He was an active member of Ruben-Chapel C.M.E. Church, a member of the Trustee Board and an usher.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ruben-Chapel C.M.E. Church in Baldwyn with the Rev. Henry Damons Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Agnew and Sons Funeral Home of Booneville is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Fryar; three daughters, LaToya Osborne, Danielle Fryar and Brianna Pannell; three sons, Tyree Fryar, Brendon Pannell and D.C. Crockett; a goddaughter, Amber Miller; seven sisters, Ruthie Mae (Billie Joe) Shinault, Zella (Nathan) Rogers, Martha (Charles) Allen, Luedella Friar, Modenia (McArthur) Rambo, Evelyn (Howard) Friar and Janet (John) Chandler; four brothers, Willie (Annie) Friar, William George (Pam) Friar, Tommy Pannell and Larry (Patty) Frier; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and four brothers.
Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. with family hour 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home in Booneville. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.

AMORY – George “Dancing” Walker, 65, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Center. Born March 12, 1947, in Ferriday, La., he was a son of Sylvester and Rosie Walker. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Amory. He attended school in Ferriday, La., where he was known for his art work. He was a former employee of W.F. Newell Construction Co. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, was a very good dancer and was better known as the dance machine, was an artist by trade and just loved to draw. He loved his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Deon Johnson officiating. The body will be deposited in the river of waters following the church services. Darden and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Walker of Amory; six sons, George Sanders of Miami, Fla., Antonio Barton and George Walker Jr., both of Los Angeles, Calif., Dan Chest of Springfield, Mass., Exzavier and Demond Latham, both of Amory; three daughters, Felicia Knight of Los Angeles, Krishia and Alison Walton, both of Amory; two brothers, Sylvester Walker of Ferriday, La., and Ted Walker of Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Mary and Jacqueline Atkins of LaPlace, La.; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Atkins; and a sister, Cleo Hughes.
Visitation and family hour will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

PLANTERSVILLE – John Wayne “Johnny” McCollum, 55, died Saturday, Dec.8, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Johnny was born March 31, 1957, in Tupelo to John Henry and Catherine Humphries McCollum. He attended Nettleton Schools and worked many years at Daybrite Lighting in Tupelo before becoming disabled. A Baptist, he enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, music of all varieties,taking care of his tropical fish and talking to his friends on the telephone.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Nettleton Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with the Rev. John Ben Raper officiating. Private burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Ann McCollum of Plantersville; two brothers, James McCollum and Roy McCollum, both of Mooreville; two nieces, Kimberly Ressel (Jack) of Denver, Colo., and Lisa Schumpert of the Richmond Community; two great-nieces, Lauren Reffel and Anna Schumpert; and a great-nephew, Ryan Reffel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Peggy Fair, Katherine Sue Gilmore and Martha Jo Yeager; and a brother in law, Era Gilmore Jr.
Pallbearers will be Randy Best, Ronnie Shackelford and Tommy Lowry.
Visitation is noon until service time today at the Nettleton Chapel.

BALDWYN – Dwight A. “Red” Werner, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 8. 2012, at Santuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was a retired construction worker and truck driver. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baldwyn. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was in the 101 Airborne where he was a Jump Master. He also served in the 187th; the same division his grandson Spc. Luke Werner now serves in Afghanistan. He also enjoyed bird hunting and fishing.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Rickey Bishop officiating with burial in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two sons, Bryson Werner (Cathy) of Blue Springs and Matt Werner of Baldwyn; three grandsons, Grant Werner of Waveland, Justin Werner of Blue Springs and Spc. Luke Werner of Afghanistan; sister-in-law, Beverly Gibson (David) of Baldwyn; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Sue Werner; father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Ruby Bryson; six brothers and two sisters.

FULTON – Lorene Whitaker Moore, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born April 20, 1930, in the Ratilff community of Itawamba County to B.E. and Evie Barber Whitaker. She was a kindergarten teacher in her earlier years and owned Moore’s Meat Processing Plant with her husband for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fulton. She previously served as the 4th District Election Commissioner for Itawamba County. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Services will be at 11 a. m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fulton with Bro. Casey Hughes, Bro. Eugene Digby and Dr. Kenny Digby officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Ellene McCrimon (J. R.) of Fulton; one son, Dr. Eddie Moore (Dr. Mitzi) of Pontotoc; seven grandchildren, Stan Digby (Stephanie), Melanie Francis (Rob), Dan McCrimon (Jodi), Corey Moore (Brittany), Anna Beth Moore, Ben Wilemon (Summer) and Samantha Wilemon; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan Digby, Chloe Digby, Ben McCrimon, Grayson Francis and Masen Wilemon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Stanley Moore, who died April 8, 2006; one daughter, Betty Ann Moore Digby; her parents; one brother, Johnny Whitaker; and one sister, Irene Whitaker.
Pallbearers will be Carl Comer, Rusty Whitaker, Gary Moore, Stan Digby, Dan McCrimon and Corey Moore.

RANDOLPH – Samantha Gail Morris Bridges, 44, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a cashier at the West Main Walmart in Tupelo. She loved to play the piano and sing. She loved all people and animals and never met a stranger.
Service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Hunter officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David Bridges; mother, Margaret Morris Daniels (Dan); brothers, Timmy W. Morris and Eddie R. Morris; sons, Michael Morris, Nick Kent and David Austin Bridges; daughter, Nikki Pannell; three grandchildren; and father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bridges.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mamon C. Morris; and sister-in-law, Jessie Morris.

HAMILTON – Flemon Danner died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus. He was born May 5, 1941, in Hamilton to Dorothy Huchinson.
Services are at noon Wednesday at Valley Chapel Church in Hamilton with the Rev. Benjamin Wax officiating. Jackson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Danner; sons, Arthur Danner (Denise) of Killeen, Texas, and Flemon Danner Jr. of Hamilton; step-children, Reggie Danner of Killeen, Brenda Lee, Carl Lee, Kasandra Johnson and Teddy Demon Danner, all of Hamilton; sisters, Annie Brock, Brenda Danner, both of Hamilton, Cora, Lizzie and Tanya, all of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, James Danner (Catherine) of Columbus, William Danner Jr. and Lewis Danner, both of Chicago; and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by sons, Robert Danner and Bradley Danner.

MYRTLE – Lillah Mae Donahue, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at her residence. She was born Nov. 7, 1944, in Union County, to Wade Senson and Gracie Ellen Crumpton. She was a life long resident of Union County, a homemaker and a member of Poolville Baptist Church. She loved her family, her grandchildren and quilting.
Service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Poolville Baptist Church with Brother Larry Harrison officiating. Interment is at Glenfield Memorial Park. Glenfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Jearrel D. Donahue of Myrtle; two sons, James Wade Donahue (Catina) and Gerald Franklin Donahue, both of New Albany; three daughters, Lori Phelan, Becky Dye (Sandy) and Amanda Donahue, all of Myrtle; four brothers, Alvie Lamar Crumpton of Illinois, William David Crumptom of Sardis, Jimmy Leon Crumpton of New Albany and Donald Ray Crumpton of Mantachie; one sister, Mary Frances Rutledge of Etta; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers are Cody Donahue, Justin Billings, Colt Dye, Junior Rutledge, Joseph Rutledge and David Wayne Crumpton. Honorary pallbearers are Adrian Gray, Todd Crumpton, Anthony McDonald, Jeremy Hall and Tony Crumpton.
