Clyce Hamm
DENNIS – Clyce Willard Hamm, 83, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Iuka Hospital. He was a native of Tishomingo County and a former supervisor for PhanSteel Chemical Company.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS. with Bro. Jerry Brewer and Mike Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Hamm of Dennis; one sister, Maedean Allen (Pat) of Belmont; four brothers, Lee R. Hamm (Ruth) of Hamilton, Ala., Clovis Dewrell Hamm (Elsie) of Florence, Ala., Venson Hamm (Polly) of Bear Creek, Ala. and Tellford Royce Hamm (Alice) of Red Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clettie and Vera Almedia Russell Hamm.
Pallbearers will be Tellford Hamm, Venson Hamm, Lee Hamm, Clovis Dewrell Hamm, Charles Powers and Royce Hopkins.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont.

Wendell Betts
PLANTERSVILLE – Wendell Ray Betts, 47,died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at his home. Arrangements were incomplete and will be announced later by N.L. Jones & Son Funeral Directors of Tupelo.
Rodney Moore
NEW ALBANY – Rodney L. Moore, 38, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, on County Road 86 New Albany. He was a member of Mallalieu United Methodist Church where he served as a youth and adult usher, member of the choir, youth treasure and a youth member of the board. In later he accepted his calling into the ministry. He received his education from the New Albany Public School. He was a 1993 graduate of New Albany High School where he excelled in football. He attended Northeast Community College and later graduated from ITT Tech in Memphis, Tenn.
Services will be at 12 noon on Monday at Mallalieu UM Church, Pastor W.T. Mayfield, officiating with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery with Beasley FuneralHome in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his father, Henry Moore of New Albany, four devoting aunts Mattie Holland of Etta, Miss., Ruby Kelley of Oxford, Dorothy Clark (William) of Ellisville, and Isabelle Moore of Boston, Mass.; six devoting uncles Raymond Smith (Mattie) of Kankakee, Ill., James Smith of Tupelo, Jimmy Smith (Janice), Johnny Smith (Mable) both of Etta, Huelessie Smith (Janet) of Lafayette, La., and Author Lee Moore of Racine, Wis.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and the body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.

Dickey Gray
HOLLY SPRINGS – Dickey Laver Gray, 64, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at his residence. He was owner and operator of Gray’s Body Shop and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. He was born Sept. 6, 1947 in Houston to Hoyt Laver Gray and Eunice Juanita Duke.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Bro. John Parker officiating. Burial will be a Spring Hill in Waterford.
Survivors include his wife, Merideth Gray of Holly Springs; three sons, Dickey Gray, Jr. (Raylene) of Oxford and Steve Gray (Hope) of New Albany and David Powers (Tracy) of St. Peters, Mo.; daughters, Crystal Briscoe (Kyle) of Olive Branch, Ginger Wiggins of Memphis, Jill Schubert (Billy) of Barton, Miss. and Emily Rainey (Mickey) of Memphis; three sisters, Barbara Hays and Cathy Osteen, both of Oxford and Nancy Boone of Holly Springs; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Reginald Short Sr.
HOLLY SPRINGS – Reginald Lerone Short, Sr., 37, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the PGA Building in Sardis. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. J.F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
The remains will lie in repose at the funeral home, 125 North Memphis Street, Holly Springs. on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The remains will lie in state on Tuesday from 12 noon to 12:55 p.m.
Rev. Roger Browning
EUPORA – The Rev. Roger Earl Browning, 48, minister, teacher, and coach died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, with burial to follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Webster County.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of all arrangements.

Mary Johnsey
BOONEVILLE – Mary Faye Simmons Johnsey, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Bonnie Spears
CALHOUN CITY – Glenda LaBon Spears, 87, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was a retired beautician and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pryor Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Vance officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
Survivors include four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.A. and Ella Smith Mosely; her husband, Francis A. Spears; a daughter, Sara and husband Wayne Strait; and a son, Willie A. Spears.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

TUPELO – Eddie (Ed) Burress died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Arrangements were incomplete and will be announced later by Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Booneville.
Susie Franklin
AMORY – Laura Mae “Susie” Franklin, 70, died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Oak Tree Plantation. She was born on April 14, 1941, in Hueytown, Ala. to James W. and Annie McRae Tucker. She graduated from Hueytown High School, Birmingham, Ala., Class of 1960. She married Charlie R. Franklin on June 17, 1961, in Hueytown. Before becoming a homemaker, she worked in the shipping department at Amory Garment. Strong in her faith, she was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Amory. A good, Godly woman, she enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, traveling with her husband, working crossword puzzles, reading, listening to Gospel music, and going out to eat and going to yard sales with her close friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Blaylock (Terry) of Greenwood Springs; grandsons, Austin and A.J. Blaylock of Greenwood Springs; sister-in-law, Edna Cox (Dick) of Smithville; brothers-in-law, O’Neil Franklin (Carolyn) of Guin, Ala, and Mackey Franklin of Nettleton; nieces and nephews, Tim Knight (Elaine) of Smithville, Terry Knight (Judy) of Smithville, Denise Rawls (Wade) of Winfield, Ala. and Danny Franklin (Teresa) of Nettleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a step sister, Carolyn Ashcraft; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mathis and Lilly Mae Rogers Franklin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Mitchell and Bro. Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Riggan, Lionel Stegall, Tim Knight, Terry Knight, Wade Rawls, and Jerry Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Gray, the Staff of Oak Tree Plantation, and the Staff of Camellia Hospice.

Dorothy Carter
FULTON – Dorothy Mae Gasaway Carter, 65, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. She was born July 16, 1946, to John Manuel and Exie Maxwell Gasaway. She worked at a shoe factory for many years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and mentoring young people and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Dennis Memory Gardens.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Kordik and Tammy Hester both of Fulton; sons, Joseph M. Carter of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jamie Carter McGill of Fairview; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Jackie) Hood, Bonnie (Roy) Adams, Carolyn Sparks, Janice Gasaway all of Fulton; three sister-in-laws, Velma Knight, Margaret Gasaway, and Sue Tucker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larkin Carroll Carter; brothers, Julius Gasaway, Jimmy Gasaway, and Billy Gasaway; sisters, Ruth Nunley, Lona Belle Johnson, Faye Whitehead, Johnnie Sue Dingler, Frankie Carter, Barbara Gentry, and Linda Cox.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Ozbirn, Anthony Kordik, David Hester, Sam Gasaway, Danny Wayne Gasaway, Brandon Wood, Drew Lesley, and Cody Crumpton.

David Morgan
PONTOTOC – David E. Morgan, Jr., 78, of the Cairo community entered into rest Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born to David Estes Morgan, Sr. and Annie Hall Morgan on Sept. 4, 1933, in Clarksdale. He married Mary Frances Hinton Morgan on Dec. 25, 1952, and enjoyed more than 59 years together. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and started working as a truck driver for Signal Delivery Service in Memphis at age 18. After retiring in 1990 he was a truck driver for K&L Furniture Frames Inc. of Pontotoc. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, what we call Local 667 and also a faithful member of Cairo Baptist Church where he served as deacon until his passing. He loved his Lord and family and was an avid lover of the outdoors, especially when they got to go camping.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Cairo Baptist Church of Ecru on Monday with Bro. Tom Sumrall officiating. Burial will follow at Cairo Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Morgan; one grandson, Morgan Brown and his fiancée Andrea Harrison; one sister, Corine Horton and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Melissa Denise Britt; two sisters, Gertrude Bray and Bertie Kent; and one brother Roy Morgan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday.

RULEVILLE – Jimmy Brown, 63, died on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at North Sunflower Medical Center.
