Clarence Cameron
TUPELO – Clarence “Cal” Cameron, 81, passed away quietly at his home Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, after an extended illness and went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. He came to Tupelo in 1963, working for Air-Cap. Later he opened Kwiki Car Wash which he operated for many years. Then he opened Cal’s Auto Center, doing vehicle detailing and body work, specializing in Volkswagen Beetles and vintage Ford Mustangs. He was a master wood craftsman and could build anything. He looked forward to planting a garden each spring, providing for his family and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Tom Lolar officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Cameron of Tupelo; three sons, Greg Cameron, Mark Cameron (Darlene) and Jack Cameron (Tammy); one daughter, Roxy Weathers (Mark); eight grandchildren, Kyle Cameron, Kacie Holliman, Jacob Cameron, Graham and Blayze Cameron, and Emily, Tyler and Katie Weathers; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Kay Smith
JUMPERTOWN – Kay Frances Smith, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at home. She was born Sept. 5, 1939, to Charlie Ed and Olive Storey Green. She was a retired manager of New Orleans Fried Chicken in Booneville and a member of Jumpertown United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Jumpertown United Methodist Church with Bro. Jason Franklin officiating. Burial will be in the Jumpertown Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Buddy) Buchanan of Ripley and Leigh (Darvis) Eaton of Jumpertown; two sons, Charlie (Christie) Smith and Joel Smith, both of Jumpertown; one sister, Connie (John) Cole of Booneville; five brothers, Charlie Dale (Pam) Green of Seattle, Wash., John Green of Corinth, Larry Green of Booneville and Glen (Joyce) Green and Bruce (Lisa) Green, both of Jumpertown; 12 grandchildren, Shannon Reno, Garrett Buchanan, Timothy Buchanan, Rachel Buchanan, Zachery Smith, Zane Smith, Dewey Eaton, Carl Eaton, Brandy Shadburn, Samatha Eaton, Sheena Eaton and Chelsea Eaton; eight great-grandchildren, Brady Hall, Hayden Carruth, Shyloe Smith, Cash Smith, Braley Eaton, Tate Eaton, Kylie Eaton and Tucker Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Gaylon Green.
Visitation will continue until service time today at the church.

Lillian Hill
WOODLAND – Lillian West Hill, 93, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Calhoun County to Albert and Pearl West. She was the last of five children. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved her church, music and her Wednesday afternoon card game with Flo Ellison, Opal Gordon and many of the Atlanta community where she had lived in the same house since 1953.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Patrick Collins officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, David Hill (Jan) and Bobby Hill (Virginia), all of Woodland, and Jimmy Hill (Mary) and Rebecca Hicks (Cleve), all of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Lonnie B. Hill, on June 29, 1991; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Donna Odom; a grandson, Mike Odom; her parents; one great-grandson, Parker McCool; two brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Odom, Adam Chandler, Danny Ellison, Jimmy Ellison, Bud Gordon and Hewelett Springer.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Lee Ellison, Dany McKittrick, Pat McKittrick, Jim Helveston, Kenneth Burns, Jerry McCool, Dereck White, Joseph Graves and Carl Neal.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Alton Marlar
WORTH, Ill. – Alton Sid Marlar, 63, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Park Villa Nursing and Rehab Center in Palos Heights, Ill. He was born June 16, 1949, in Itawamba County to Sid and Edna Ruth Tucker Marlar (Zinser). He was a 1967 graduate of Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Ill. He was employed for 41 years by the United States Postal Service, South Suburban Mail Sectional Center in Bedford Park, Ill. In his last position, he delivered all the in-house mail throughout the facility. He never married and had no children. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, listening to talk radio and music, and being on the computer. A man with a low-key personality and an unexpected sense of humor, he was loved by his family and held a special place in the hearts of his niece and nephew.
He is survived by his sister, Nelda Kendrick; his niece, Charlene Stinson (Carl) of Golden; his nephew, David Counts (Marcia) of Bogota, Colombia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private service will be held at a later date. Planet Green Cremations of Chicago Heights, Ill., is in charge of the arrangements.

Terry Dale Bray
IUKA – Terry Dale Bray, 55, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at his residence.

Doris Goode
NEW ALBANY – Doris Jean Jones Goode, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany. She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Marshall County to Otto and Brasca Sweden Jones. She was the widow of Willie F. Goode. She was a retired shirt factory seamstress. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and cooking. She was especially known for her rolls, potato salad and chocolate pies. She was a longtime member of Hickory Flat United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11a.m. Wednesday at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church with Bro. Brownie Tohill and Bro. Neal Vick officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Crane (Terry) of New Albany and Norma Rogers of Florence, Ala.; one son, Terry Goode (Jane) of New Albany; one sister, Ruth Ann Mann of Memphis; six grandchildren, David Goode (Lori), Paul Goode (Angela), Jason Goode, Christy Puryear (Blake), Scotty Rogers (Amy) and Justin Crane (Brandi); nine great-grandchildren; and special friends, Judy and David Gadd, and Roger Lollar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Evelyn Bready and Geraldine Vanzant.
Pallbearers will be David Goode, Paul Goode, Jason Goode, Scotty Rogers, Taylor Goode, Justin Crane and Blake Puryear. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Graceland Care Center of New Albany.

Billie Joyce Parker
MESQUITE, Nev. – Billie Joyce Parker, 73, died suddenly Oct. 4, 2012, while living with her daughter in Mesquite, Nev. She was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Saltillo to Earl and Zelma Stanford. She had lived in San Diego, Calif., and Mesquite, Nev., for the past 46 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Cloes of Mesquite, Nev.; sons, Michael and Chris Parker of San Diego, Calif., and Tony Parker of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Joann Simmons of San Diego and Janice Lichvar of Las Vegas; brother, Donald Stanford of Saltillo; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Earline Jowers; and a brother, Jimmy Stanford.
The body was cremated in Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held at a later date in San Diego.
Norman Reed
MOOREVILLE – Norman Reed, 48, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at his residence in Mooreville. He was born Jan. 7, 1964, to James R. and Helen Harbin Reed. He loved his family and friends as well as music, cars and motorcycles. He truly loved to laugh and enjoyed every moment of life. He will be missed so much.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Jack Ezell and the Rev. Terry Ethridge officiating with a eulogy by Whitney Crane. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Reed; his son, Justin Reed (Kayla); his daughters, Michelle Holt (Jay) and Allie Beard; six grandchildren, Sarah Baswell, Savannah Baswell, Shelby Baswell, Dominique Reed, Tre Holt and Wesley Holt; two brothers, Billy Hood and Russell Reed; five sisters, Elizabeth Cockrell (Bobby), Velma Stanford (Ray), Martha Dickerson (Mitchell), Lela Floyd (Tony) and Tammy Tackett; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special nurse, Whitney Crane.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arley and Roy Reed.
Pallbearers will be Billy Cox, John Payne, Jonathan McIntosh, Johnathan Baswell, Johnny Payne and Carl Ethridge.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JUMPERTOWN – Eva Clarice Brown, 79, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the Mississippi Care Center in Corinth. She was born July 3, 1933, to P.C. and Eva Estelle Baker Dean. She was a member of Jumpertown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Franklin and Bro. David English officiating. Burial will be in Jumpertown Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Pam Lee of Rienzi, Becky (Rickey) Floyd of Blackland and Denise Jones of Jumpertown; one son, Craig (Jeaneen) Brown of Jumpertown; two sisters, Louise Bunn and Zola Boyette, both of Raleigh, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Chasity Brown, Rikki Taye Wise, Wesley Floyd, Briceson Brown, Hunter Brown, Latasha Hutcheson, Cody Brown, Shawn Presley, Courtney Presley and Mollie Brown; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laron L. Brown; one son, Kirby Brown; her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

FULTON – Mildred Thomas Wilson, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born on Sept. 24, 1927, to Arthur L. and Lela Wood Waddle in Itawamba County. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crafts, cooking, working with her flowers and being a homemaker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Jamie Basden officiating. Speakers will be William Marion Waddle and Bobby Cleveland. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.

RIPLEY – Marion Dale Morrison, 65, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. He was born July 22, 1947, to Sam and Mary Inez Chapman Morrison. He was a member of Chapman Church of Christ and a trapper.

He is survived by his companion and best friend, Becky Smith of Ripley; three sisters, Lavaugn Carmichiel (Butch) of Corinth, Sandra Hopper (Ricky Joe) of Walls and Joan Berryman (Jimmy) of Ripley; one brother, Tony Morrison (Jane) of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

NEW ALBANY – Mary Kaye West Catt, 55, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She was born Nov. 6, 1957, in St. Louis, Mo., to Harvey Trynton West and Helen Davis West Patton. Before her health declined she worked as a certified nursing assistant. She attended the New Vision Worship Center in Nettleton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Strider officiating. Burial will be in the Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, James Catt of New Albany; six sons, Brad Martin (Melinda) of Ingomar, Jason Catt (Melissa) of New Albany, Chad Catt (Wendy) of Thaxton, Phillip Martin (Kristin) of New Albany, Michael Catt (Sarah) of Thaxton and Justin Catt (Marisa) of Myrtle; four sisters, Janie Merrell of Shannon, Brenda Guyton of Amory, Sherry White of Troy, Ala., and Tammy Allen of Amory; three brothers, Harvey West of Tupelo, Keith West of Bigbee and Kenneth West of Amory; and 11 grandchildren.

Travis Storey
BOONEVILLE – Travis DueAllen Storey, 58, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his home after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 1,1954, to Elegann and Inis Storey. He was a retired carpenter and he was a Baptist. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.
A memorial service will be announced later by the family. McMillan Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Survivors are his wife of 38 years, Rita Lambert Storey of Booneville; one daughter, Tassie (Calvin) Estes of Booneville; one son, Allen (Crystal) Storey of Blackland; three sisters, Ann Windham and Sherry Cole, both of Booneville, and Jane Storey of Corinth; two brothers, Tommy (Lydia) Storey of Booneville and Tony (Mary) Storey of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Carlee and Trevor Storey, Alan Estes, Hannah and Hunter Storey, Destiny Bennett, Dakota and Brayden Hatfield; special family friends, Curtis (Peagie) Downs of Booneville; and special mother-in-law, Loree Lambert.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Shawna Denise Storey.

Myrtle McGough
TUPELO – Myrtle McGough, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at The Greenhouses. She was born Aug. 24, 1935, in Princeton, Ky., to Leslie and Dollie McGough. She graduated from Butler High School in Princeton. She came to work at the Tupelo Children’s Mansion in 1966 and worked there for over 30 years until her retirement. There, she was their cook and housemother. She loved and adored the children at the Mansion, as they were her life, and she loved her family at Traceway. She enjoyed gardening and growing prize tomatoes, and she loved her church, Life Church of Tupelo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Life Church with the Rev. Stephen Judd and Ken Burton officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sisters, Vivian Walker of Alexander City, Ala., and Linda Alexander of Benton, Ky.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Gordon McGough and Carmel McGough.
Pallbearers will be Ken Burton, John Ward, John Odom, Brad Laughlin and the Mansion boys.

Dorothy Myers
BOONEVILLE – Dorothy L. Myers, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka. She was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Lake Garfield, Fla. She was a Pentecostal. She was a machine operator in the clothing manufacturing industry, a caregiver and a homemaker. She enjoyed gospel music, reading her Bible and gardening.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Curtis Featherston officiating. Burial will be in Holley Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Penny (Jane) of Rock Island, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Rose Scott of Corinth; a grandson, John Scott (Heather) of Booneville; two granddaughters, Leta Osborne and Melinda Osborne (Jacob), all of Corinth; and great-grandchildren, Silas, Jericho and Jorja Osborne, all of Corinth.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Scott; her second husband, William Hollis Duncan; her third husband, Lee Myers; and a son, John Scott.

GLEN – Melissa Ann Lambert Phillips, 50, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.

Madie Austin
RANDOLPH – Emmie Mae “Madie” Austin, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at her residence. She was a homemaker and loving mother of seven children, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and church family and was famous for her homemade butter rolls.
Services were Monday, Dec. 10, at County Line Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Cobb and Bro. Chip Johnson officiating. Interment was at County Line Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Jane Kelly, Brenda Sewell (Junior), Wanda Hatcher (Lee), Angie Stacy (Mike), Larry Austin (Kay) and Donald Austin (Tammy); her grandchildren, Tina Clark (David), Kevin Rodgers (Michelle), Shane Roby, Chance Austin (Tara), Cade Austin, CeCee Austin, Kirby Sewell (Redele), Mendy Cook (Chris), Luke Hatcher, Marlee Hatcher, Amber Gillespie (L.D.), Caylan Austin, Eli Austin, Seth Stacy and Charity Stacy; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dee Sprayberry of Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Austin; son, Gene Austin; one grandchild, Deonna Marie Austin; three sisters; and three brothers.

Shelly Logan
PONTOTOC – Shelly Ann Shempert Logan, 60, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Nov. 21, 1952, to Martha and Jewel Shempert. She was married to Kenneth Logan who faithfully cared for her during her 2 1/2 year bout with cancer. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church, where she was secretary and treasurer. She had many friends, both locally and in the Tennessee mountains. She loved life.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Kenneth Corley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jewel Shempert; her grandparents, Louise and Homer Sudduth, and Girley and Bailey Shempert.

Danny Miles
TUPELO – Danny Wayne Miles, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Newton on May 24, 1951, to Floyd and Dean Stokes Miles. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard, serving over 14 years. Before his retirement, he worked eight years for Southern Bell Refrigerated as plant manager. He was an avid deer hunter and a Baptist by faith.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Michael Bowers officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Enlow (Scotty) of Guntown, Melanie D. Miles of Guntown and Gwen Kowach of Washington state; his mother, Dean Boyette of Meridian; four sisters, Diane Evans of Gulfport, Pam Burton (Ray) of Meridian, Debbie McDonald (Stan) of Quitman and Kathy McGowin (Kenneth) of Meridian; two brothers, Gerald Maggard (Evelyn) of Quitman and Tim Boyette of Meridian; five grandchildren, Bailey Kowach, Carsen Enlow, Brayden Kowach, Ella Kate Enlow and Braxton Miles; the mother of his children, Patricia Miles of Saltillo; and son-in-law, Casey Kowach of Saltillo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Boyette, and two sisters, Sylvia Collins and Sybil Reed.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Hutchinson, Jessie Cummings, Scotty Enlow, Stan McDonald and Brian Estess.

WHITTIER, Calif. – Kevin Butler Postema, 62, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at his home in Whittier, Calif., from an extended illness. He was a graduate of Northeast Community College and received his B.S. degree in journalism from Memphis State University. He was the executive editor for AAGLA magazine in Los Angeles and wrote articles for the L.A. Times. He was a published author. A Catholic, he enjoyed writing, tropical fish and outdoor activities.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Sapien Postema, of Whittier, Calif.; one daughter, Liandra [Pete] Perez of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; two grandchildren, Gabrial and Evalina Perez; two brothers, Tom [Bev] Postema of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and John [Renee] Warnicke of Booneville; one sister, Rosemary [Jim] Stinneford of Barrington, Ill.; his mother, Rosemary Warnicke of Tupelo; and many nieces and nephews.

Red Taylor
IUKA – James R. “Red” Taylor, 72, died Monday, Dec./ 10, 2012, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was a member of the Iuka Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran. He was formerly employed for 35 years as a police officer for the City of Iuka and the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department. He was also the owner and operator of Red’s Pawn Shop for many years. He loved the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and softball, and he sponsored a softball team for many years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Lance Foster will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Taylor of Iuka; two daughters, Tina Joslin (Ronnie) of Tishomingo and Missy Hickman (Eddie Carr) of Baldwyn; one sister, Retha Nunley of Iuka; four grandchildren, Miranda Brown of Baldwyn, Taylor Joslin of Tishomingo, Derek Joslin of Tishomingo and Trenton Brown of Baldwyn; and three great-grandchildren, Madyson Owens, Gavyn Owens and Sophia Rizzo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.J. and Cleo Taylor; two brothers, Mike Taylor and Danny Taylor; an infant brother; and a sister, Betty Faye Helton.

FULTON – Lorene Whitaker Moore, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born April 20, 1930, in the Ratliff community of Itawamba County to B.E. and Evie Barber Whitaker. She was a kindergarten teacher in her earlier years and owned Moore’s Meat Processing Plant with her husband for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fulton. She was the 4th District Election Commissioner for Itawamba County. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Fulton with Bro. Casey Hughes, Bro. Eugene Digby and Dr. Kenny Digby officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
