Beulah Mabry
PLANTERSVILLE – Services for Beulah Bell Johnson Mabry will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerusalem M.B. Church in Nettleton with the Rev. Craig Field officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born March 12, 1950, to Levert Johnson and Nancy Bell Westmorland in Monroe County. She was a member of Jerusalem M.B. Church. She enjoyed watching wrestling, cooking, pets, shopping and watching movies. She was a very sweet and caring person
She is survived by her husband, Benny Mabry; two sons, Terry Dewayne Mabry of Plantersville and Benny Wayne Mabry Jr. of Tupelo; a grandson, Bryan Doss (Christy); brothers, Lee Arthur Pierce (Susan) of Nettleton, Lee Floyd Pierce (Lealer Mae) of Wren, Jerry Westmorland, Carnial Westmorland and Clenail, all of Amory, Mike Johnson of Chicago; two sisters, Mary Brown of Wren and Denise Griffin of Detroit, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.

RIPLEY – Lawrence E. Leatherwood, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moses Chapel United Methodist Church at Ripley. Pastor Joseph Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Adkins Chapel Church Cemetery at Blue Mountain. Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, McAuther (Ida) Leatherwood; four daughters, Mary Lorine (TC) Rucker, Lillie B. Leatherwood, Catherine (Henry) Gipson and Linda Leatherwood; two brothers, John (Berlin) Leatherwood and Jessie (Helen) Leatherwood; six sisters, Velma Leatherwood, Bertha Baylis, Sarah Johnson, Beatrice Bell, Flora Stafford and Elone Lowery; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice Leatherwood; his wife, Katherine Lyons Leatherwood; four children, Shirley Hobson, Lisa, Charles and Stanley Leatherwood; two brothers, Elmer Leatherwood and Robert Leatherwood.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today with the family hour from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service.

Charlie Mae Warren
TUPELO – Charlie Mae “Tut” Trimble Warren died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Tupelo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church with the Rev.Willie Matthew officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Verona is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Leona (Shelton) Taplin of Clinton; two grandchildren, Sheltric T. Slaughter and Leandra Taplin; two great-grandchildren, Eboni Anderson and Matthew Slaughter; two sisters, Nancy (Allen) Barnes of Jackson and Laura Nell Trimble of Tupelo; two brothers, Charles (Johnnie)Trimble and Paul (Theartrice)Trimble of Milwaukee, Wis.; foster sister, Beatrice (Marvin) Johnson of St. Louis, Mo.; and a host of nieces,nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Leona Allen Trimble; three brothers, Webster, Earnest Carl and James Edwards Trimble; two sisters, Claudine Trimble and Pauline Terrell.

Annie Young
ABBEVILLE – Annie Mare Young, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Abbeville. A former resident of Alberta, Ala., she was the daughter of Albert and Lula Pettway. She was a member of Oak Grove M.B. Church in Alberta, Ala., where she was in the choir and worked with the youth ministry and food ministry. She founded the gospel singing group, Supreme Angels. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and flowers. She was the widow of Louish Young.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Grove M.B. Church in Alberta. The Rev. Carl Daniels will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean (Willie) Dennis of Abbeville and Ann King of Long Island, N.Y.; six sons, Hardy Pettway and Y.C. Young, both of Birmingham, Earnest Young of Bessemer, Ala., Ray Young and Richard Young, both of Alberta, and Darryl Young of Olive Branch; two brothers, Bruce Pettway of Los Angeles and Marcus Pettway of Mobile, Ala.; 32 grandchildren; and a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren.

George Pegues
OXFORD – George E. Pegues, 54, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home.

Ruby Killough
OXFORD – Ruby Montgomery Williams Killough, 92, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Sunshine Nursing Home in Pontotoc. She was born in Toccopola; She was a homemaker and the widow of Willis Lamoine Killough. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, flowers, her animals and spending time with her family.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Curt Presley officiating. Burial will follow in Toccopola Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Christy Dale Pepper (Jeff) of Southport, N.C.; three sons, Gary Craig Williams (Barbara) of Jacksonville, Fla., Roger Michael Williams (Ellen) of Medford, Ore., and Terry Wayne Williams (Sydney) of Hernando; two stepdaughters, Wanda Poynor (David) of Randolph and Barbara Norman of Houlka; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Erma Dees
BOONEVILLE – Erma Calley Dees, 98, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. She was born Nov. 24, 1914, to Benjamin and Lugenia Carr Calley. She worked for Fred’s Discount Store for 26 years. She was a member of Booneville Church of Christ.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jim Estes and Minister Greg Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Hester of New Site; one brother, Floyd (Louise) Calley of Marietta; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Martha Allen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, J.C. Dees, in 2010; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Pallbearers are James Hester, Joshua Hester, Gary Calley, Nyle Calley, Robert Calley, Larry Taylor and Gene Taylor.

POTTS CAMP – Martha Lee Falkner Brookins, 63, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at her home in Potts Camp.

RIENZI – Billy Wayne Nash died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home.

George Clayton
CORINTH – George Clayton, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at his home. He retired from the Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean conflict. After his military retirement he worked in Memphis, first at RCA and later at Schlitz Brewery. He then worked for the TVA and later retired in Pickwick, Tenn. He was an avid fisherman, expert gardener and active member of the VFW Post 3962.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Savannah, Tenn. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Moore Crabtree Clayton of Corinth; two sons, Kenneth Clayton of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Roger Clayton (Rié) of Nashville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Trudy Copeland (John) of Kosciusko; a daughter-in-law, Jan Clayton of Savannah, Tenn.; two brothers, Wilbur “Rusty” Clayton (Benny) of Upland, Calif., and Arthur Clayton (Eddy) of Smithville, Mo.; one sister, Edith Nathan of Hesperia, Calif.; five grandchildren, Malachi Clayton, Aaron Clayton, Alaina Gray, Emily Clayton-Robertson and Sai Clayton; four stepgrandchildren, Amy Crabtree, Chris Copeland, Tinuviel Maese and Paris Maese; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Flora Dora Cromwell Clayton; his son, Mark Thomas Clayton; his wife, Virginia Ruth Cadwell Clayton; four brothers, Marshall, Kermit, Frank and Maynard Clayton; and four sisters, Lora Sims, Hazel Brewer, Rachel Alter and Lois La Franco.

Freddie L. Burton
COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. – Freddie Lynn Burton, 65, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Methodist-Germantown Hospital. He was born March 31, 1947, to John Buford and Launa Oleene Ferguson Burton. He was a member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian. He was retired from the V.A. Hospital as a personnel specialist. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Byron Forester officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Church Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Burton of Collierville, Tenn.; one daughter, Sherry Lynn Taylor (Robert Anthony) of Collierville; one sister, Emma Hurdle (Cooper) of Walnut; two brothers, Richard Burton of Collierville and Larry Burton (Doris) of Memphis; and two grandchildren, William Forrest and Alexis Morgan Taylor, both of Collierville.

SHANNON – Richard Clarence Jones, 63, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, while duck hunting in Quitman County. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

BALDWYN – Greg “Willie” Williams 48, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home. He was a heavy equipment operator and a mechanic. He was a Baptist.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Williams of Baldwyn; his mother, Nannie Williams of Baldwyn; daughter, Becky Hooper of Baldwyn; son, Joseph Williams of Baldwyn; stepdaughter, Christina Nelson of Tennessee; two brothers, Sammy Williams and Robert Williams, both of Baldwyn; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Hooper, Samuel Willington and Scott Nelson Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Luther Williams.

Moiese Woodruff
WHEELER – Moiese Glover Woodruff, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Landmark Nursing Home in Booneville after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 31, 1932, to Clyde and Ola Gardner Glover. She was a retired employee of Wheeler Schools and a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Rickey Bishop and Bro. Randy Bostic officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Woodruff and Richard Woodruff (Belinda), all of Wheeler; a son-in-law, Tony Hallmark of New Hope; grandchildren, Blake Woodruff, Brandon Woodruff (Joanie Green), Lorie Cox (Stephen), Justin Hallmark and Brent Hallmark; great-grandchildren, Hannah Cox, Kylie Cox and Sydney Grace Cox; sisters, Freda Swiney (Lee) of Wheeler and Mary Alice Coats (Phillip) of Booneville; brothers, Jimmy Glover (Betty) of Wheeler, Bob Glover (Alice) of Baldwyn, Ben Glover of Wheeler; special friend, Mauveline Kesler; caregiver and special friend, Sammy Frederick; and a host of nieces and nephews.

KENNEDY, Ala. – Betty Smith, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at her home in Kennedy, Ala. A native of Lamar County, Ala., she was the daughter of Palmer Lee and Ruby Nell Wiggins Foster. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. She worked for United Technology in Columbus.

HICKORY FLAT – Julia Denise Sides Dye, 41, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Feb. 7, 1971, in Memphis to John Calvin Sides and Alma Lorene Jarrett Sides. She was a housewife, and a member of the First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville.

Vance Stark
RIPLEY – Vance Stark, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Mississippi Care Center in Corinth. He was born March 2, 1924, to William Berry and Corrie Yancey Stark. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the J.P. Shackelford Sunday School Class. He retired from TRW Inc. after 35 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rex Yancey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pressley Stark of Ripley; one son, Ronnie Stark (Rena) of Nesbit; one stepson, Bill Pressley of Ripley; sister-in-law, Bert Stark of Memphis; brother, Bill Stark (Helen) of Somerville, Tenn.; one grandchild, Robin Stark; and one great-grandchild, Noah Stark, both of Nesbit.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Francis Stark; one sister, Elizabeth Crawford; and one brother, Charles Stark.

Betty M. Merritt
TUPELO – Betty Jane McAdoo Merritt, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born on April 6, 1924, in Texarkana, Texas, to Harvey C. McAdoo and Annie Laurie Rehkopf McAdoo. She graduated from Texarkana High School. She lived much of her adult life in Camden, Ark., where she was secretary/office manager for Gross and Janes Company for many years. She also worked for the Ouchita County, Ark., Department of Human Services. She was a longtime member of the Fairview United Methodist Church of Camden. After moving to Tupelo in 1996 to be near her son and his family, she was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was a quiet, moving force who enjoyed gardening, working puzzles and caring for her family.
A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday in Camden, Ark. There will be no local visitation or services. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Steve Merritt (Jill) of Tupelo; and two granddaughters, Leslie Erin and Whitney Leanne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Merritt, on Dec. 3, 2006; her parents; a son, Lloyd C. Merritt, on July 27, 1976; and five siblings.

Velma Moss
BOONEVILLE – Velma H. Moss, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at The Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. She was born April 1, 1927, in Prentiss County. She was a factory worker in the clothing manufacturing industry, and she was a Baptist. She enjoyed quilt making, flower gardening and talking with friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today Friday at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Jones officiating. Burial will be in Forked Oak Cemetery.
She is survived by a nephew, Sonny Honeycutt (Janie) of Booneville; two great-nephews, Josh Honeycutt and Chris Jones, both of Booneville; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Junie Honeycutt; two sisters, Lena Tucker and Gladys Honeycutt; five brothers, Jack Honeycutt, Chester Honeycutt, Vester Honeycutt, Lester Honeycutt and Sidney Honeycutt.
Pallbearers are Greg Grisham, Brock Grisham, Wayne Tucker, Jim Tucker, Jeffrey Tucker and Billy Honeycutt.

Harold Gateley
AMORY – Harold Brook Gateley, 78, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his home. He was born in Amory on July 17, 1934. He was retired from the United States Air Force. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Chris Moody officiating. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra J. Childers of Mascoutah, Ill.; one son, David Gateley of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Starr, Crystal, Michael, Amber, Desiree and Matthew; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a brother, Charles Gateley.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Beatrice Lockhart
HAMILTON – Beatrice Cook Lockhart, 67, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. She was born Jan. 27, 1945, to Orson Spencer Cook and Katie Oliver Cook Gibson in Aliceville, Ala. She lived the past 40 years in Hamilton, where she was a homemaker. She attended Fig Hill Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James Edward Lockhart of Hamilton; one daughter, Vickie Wilmeth (Brandon) of West Point; two sons, James Edward Lockhart Jr. of Ohio and Steven Lockhart of Kentucky; four brothers, Orson Cook Jr. of Columbus, Jessie Jones (Karen) of Cullman, Ala., William Jones (Billie) of Hamilton and Howard Jones (Martha) of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kathy Childers; and three brothers, Cecil Jones, Buck Jones and Ora Eugene Jones.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bobby Gray
EVERGREEN – Bobby Ray Gray, 66, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his home after an extended illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Nina Stubbs
OKOLONA – Nina Marie Stubbs, 77, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Oct. 19, 1935, to Obadiah Smith and Noami Cooperwood. She lived in Grand Rapids for 60 years. She was a loving person.
Services will be Sunday at Mt. Olive M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Gates (Steven) of Houston; three sons, Victor Stubbs, Willie Stubbs and Sidney Stubbs, all of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

BOONEVILLE – David “Dave” Fowler, 43, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.
