RIENZI – Keith Ballard, 54, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. He was born March 25,1958, to Laverne and Harold Ballard. He was a member of Thrasher Baptist Church and he worked at APAC as a safety manager.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Thrasher Baptist Church with Bro. Doug Rakestraw and Bro. Excel Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Rhonda Ballard of Rienzi; two sons, Chad (Amanda) Ballard and Bryan Ballard, both of Booneville; his mother, Laverne Ballard of Rienzi; three sisters, Connie (Bobby) Bishop of Corinth, Trudys (Marlin) Pitman and Kay (Rickey) Rogers, both of Rienzi; two brothers, Danny (Peggy) Ballard of Rienzi and Rickey (Tina) Ballard of Kossuth; three grandchildren, Luke, Laurie and Levi Ballard, all of Booneville; his mother-in-law, Oneda Downs of Rienzi; a special great-niece, Raleigh Downs of Booneville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Teresa Bowling; and a brother, Tony Ballard.
Pallbearers will be Keith Kelly, Ronnie Chapel, Mike Tucker, Dustin Moore, Jamie Shields, Jeff Johnson and Scott Russell. Perry Bobo will be an honorary pallbearer.

TUPELO – Dennis Wayne Owen, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Union County to Manuel S. Owen and Onie Bell Kent Owen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Memphis State University. He was a former owner of the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store and an investigator for Equifax. He was a Baptist.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at the United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Jannie Fleming Owen of Tupelo; a son, Garth Owen of Tupelo; and two grandchildren, Gracie Owen and Memphis Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Heath Owen; a sister, Mary Edith Smithey; a brother, Charles Malcolm “Mack” Owen; a brother-in-law, Hubert Smithey; and a sister-in-law, Patty Owen.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Kent, Tim Smithey, Rusty Smithey, Miles McDonald, Steve Watson and Richard Schlueter.
In honor of Owen, United Funeral Service Inc. will fly the flag of the United States Army at the funeral home during visitation and service.

NEW ALBANY – Clyde Alvin Bailey, 62, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was born Nov. 22, 1950, in Pontotoc to Willie Henry Alexander Bailey and Willie Mae Ragland Bailey.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ on Hwy. 178. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include four children, Angela Jackson, Pamela (Thodis) Randle, Patricia Berry and Alvin Derail Bailey, all of New Albany; two brothers, Clinton Bailey of New Albany and Alex (Paulette) Bailey of Myrtle; two sisters, Ruby Jean Bailey of Tupelo and Shelia (Vincent) Isby of New Albany; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Deuron Caruthers; and a grandchild, Ameseon Bright.

TUPELO – Jerry Coleman, 61, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.

BLUE SPRINGS – Marie Annette McKinney-Williams, 47, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Jan. 19, 1965, in Lee County to Curtis McKinney Sr. and Bettie Jean Scott McKinney. She was a member of Hopewell M.B. Church in Belden, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Wednesday night youth teacher. She loved working with children and she loved her church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Red Hill M.B. Church in Blue Springs. The Rev. Curtis McKinney Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Red Hill Community Cemetery in Blue Springs. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Williams of Blue Springs; her mother, Bettie McKinney; her brother, the Rev. Curtis McKinney Jr. (Melanie), all of Tupelo; and two foster children.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour before service time Sunday.
FULTON – Verna Mae Stanley Kyle, 94, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Care Center of Aberdeen. She was born June 15, 1918, in Lee County to Jesse and Lula Belle Lesley Stanley. She was a homemaker. She raised chickens and worked for Vend Foods in Tupelo. She was the oldest member of Greenwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jackie Gray and Bro. Terry Paul Graham officiating. Burial will be in the Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Eddy Kyle of Tupelo; four daughters, Billy Johnson (Ricky) of Eggville, Larue Hill (Wally) of Belpre, Ohio, Martha Swiney (Richard) of Aberdeen, and Kay Farris (Jerry) of Tupelo; one sister, Earlene Newman (Russell) of Aberdeen; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kyle, who died Aug. 15, 1981; two sons, James Kyle and Gerald Kyle; four brothers; and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Steve West, Tim West, Donnie West, Brent Kyle, Billy Clay Kyle, Chad Kyle, Richard Swiney Jr. and Brock Pearce.

WEST POINT – Susan Rebecca Dragoo Howell, 89, passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at her home in West Point. She was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Muncie, Ind., Delaware County, to Helen Madgaline Bader and Thomas Ephriam Dragoo. She graduated from Yorktown, Ind., High School. She came to Clay County in 1963 from Muncie. She was a private secretary and bookkeeper for John H. Bryan for Homes. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point. Burial will follow in Palo Alto Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her two daughters, Cassie Howell Sistrunk and Cara Lee Howell Brasfield (Larry); and one son, Randal Zane Howell (Patsy), all of West Point; seven grandchildren, Ronald Shane Howell, Monte Lee Crosswhite, Susan Lynn Ware, Randee Helen McVey, Larry Lee Brasfield, Ryan Shawn Howell and Shannon Marie Brasfield; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Shirley Sheward of West Point; three brothers, Sandy Dragoo of Muncie, Ind., Joe Dragoo (Marion) of Booneville and Steve Dragoo of West Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

NETTLETON – Evie Lee Hall, 90, died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012. She was born Nov, 6, 1922, in Nettleton to Arzella and Henderson Orr. She was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church, where she served as class leader for many years. She was married to the late William Hall Sr.
Survivors include three children, William Hall Jr., Brenda Washington (Jimmy) and Lendia Hall, all of Nettleton; two brothers, Lonnie Orr and Aaron Orr, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Patricia Ruff of Tupelo; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

GUNTOWN – Maudie Murline Kelton Mansell, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Sept. 19, 1928, to Will and Minnie Williams Kelton. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of New Covenant Family Worship Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. David Kretch officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Bernice (Russell) Barnett of Guntown; one son, Bobby (Judy) Strickland of Booneville; two sisters, Quay Jones of Booneville and Pearl Pierce of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Strickland; her second husband, Bill Mansell; her parents; two sons, Harold and Donnie Strickland; three sisters; and one brother.

BOONEVILLE – Hazel Avis Ward, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. She was born April 23, 1928, in Jacinto to Thomas Jefferson Davis and Irene Davis Davis. She was a machine operator in the manufacturing industry, and she was a member of the West Booneville Church of Christ. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, reading her Bible, attending church and worshipping God, and spending time with her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Wade Davis, Brian Meade and Greg Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, James Dale Kendrick (Emily) of Booneville; two daughters, Jackie Lambert (Larry) of Booneville and Sue Gregory (Garry) of New Albany; a brother, Wade Davis (Sue) of Jacinto; grandchildren, Tammy McVey (Ron), John King (Jessie), Marty Lambert (Betty), Jennifer Burns (Junior), Jerry Ray Henderson (Marguerite), all of Booneville, Melissa Gregory and Brentley Gregory, both of New Albany, Kaitlin Kendrick and Ethan Kendrick, both of Booneville; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

NEW ALBANY – Jimmy Windham Heard, 73, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany. He was born Jan. 2, 1939, in New Albany to Garrett Windham Heard and Iva Lou Cobb Heard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was a truck driver and a member of the Ingomar Baptist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

SALTILLO – Bobby G. Moody, 81, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Belmont to Leonard and Eula Crabb Moody. He was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church and Evergreen Park Masonic Lodge 1171 in Evergreen Park, Ill. He was self-employed and was retired from Armour Pharmaceutical Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and reading.
