Ruby Sanders
WEST POINT – Ruby McCully Sanders, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Dugan Memorial Home. She was born Nov. 14, 1926, to Melvin McCully and Allien Davies. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and she worked at Blazon for several years.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today Friday at Bethel Cemetery in Winston County with Rev. Payton Myers officiating. Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Steve Sanders of Orange Beach, Ala.; daughters, Patricia Thompson of Grand Junction, Colo., and Carol Moss of West Point; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sanders; and her parents, a son, a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, a brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Fran Shannon
NEW ALBANY – Laura Frances “Fran” Robbins Shannon, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at her residence. She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in New Albany to Charles B. Robbins and Laverne Lamar Robbins. She was a member of the New Albany Mother’s Club, and she did volunteer work at the Good Samaritan and Meals on Wheels. She was a avid golfer who had two holes-in-one. She was a member of the Oaks Country Club and former president of the Women’s Golf Association. She was a life master at duplicate bridge and the former president of the New Albany Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a member of the New Albany First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Marjorie Houston Sunday School Class and the Wednesday Morning Circle. She loved her family tenaciously. Her grandson was her great pride.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Albany First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Male, the Rev. Leslie Nabors and the Rev. Bill Everett officiating. Burial will be in the Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Shannon Shaw (Larry) and a grandson, Harris Robbins Shaw, both of New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert James Shannon Jr.; and a son, Charles Robert Shannon.
Pallbearers will be Keith Robbins, Greg Robbins, Joe Robbins, Warren Gray, Preston Maxey, David Maxey and Scott Maxey.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Ruby Henley
PRAIRIE – Ruby Steele Henley, 97, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at the Community Hospice-Darlington Oaks in Verona. She was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Chickasaw County Mississippi to Ollie Carter Pate and Raymond L. Steele. She was a resident of the Una community. Mrs. Henley was a seamstress for Knickerbocker Manufacturing Company for 30 years. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Lampkin officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Charles H. Henley Jr. (Pamelia) of Loxley, Ala., Jessie Lee Henley (Sue) of Brewer and James A. Henley (Brenda) of Prairie; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ramona Dees of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be George Knox, Chester Powers, Wayne Crosswhite, Billy Barnette, Dennis Pettit, Barry Vanlandingham and James Crump.
Visitation will be from 10:45 a.m. to service time today at the graveside.

OXFORD – Christopher T. Woodard, 31, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Waterford.

Dorothy M. Gibbs
TIPLERSVILLE – Dorothy Mae Lillian Glenn Gibbs, 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Community Hospice in Verona. She was born June 30, 1936, to Dobbie Banks and Ralph Glenn. She married Robert Lee Edward “Bobby” Gibbs on Dec. 10, 1960. She taught at the Chalybeate Head Start. She retired in 1992 after 27 years. She was a founding member of the Greater Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ in Tiplersville. Dr. Rayfield Cameron Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Foster & Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert L.E. “Bobby” Gibbs of Tiplersville; one son, Lee Gibbs (Carolyn) of Memphis; three daughters, Freedia Starks (Wylie) of Ripley, Mona Lisa Gibbs and Cosaundra Cox of Tiplersville; a nephew raised as her own. Terry Glenn of Memphis; one brother, Hurley Glenn (May Belle) of Ripley; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clyde Glenn.
Visitation will begin at noon today at the funeral home with the family hour from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time Saturday.

NEW ALBANY – Sheryle Ann Masters, 54, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at her home in New Albany.

OXFORD – Doris Quarles, 81, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Patricia Svetkovich
STEWART – Patricia Elaine Svetkovich, 65, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at her home in Stewart. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Shirley Tidwell
AMORY – Shirley Tidwell, 75, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at her residence. Born on July 23, 1935, in Hardy, Ark., she was a daughter of the late Milton and Emma Erslee LaRue Dunevant. A very loving and compassionate lady, Mrs. Tidwell never met a stranger and was fondly known for always giving hugs and kisses. She was a homemaker. A charter member of Cornerstone Family Fellowship, she had served as a leader of children’s ministries for 30 years and was the Ladies Auxiliary leader for many years. She cherished the times spent with her grandchildren, and enjoyed flowers, listening to gospel music and taking photographs, especially of her family.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m. today at Cornerstone Family Fellowship with Bro. Murray Galloway and Bro. Charles Petty officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Malcolm Tidwell of Amory; daughters, Lisa (Jim) Earp and Cheryl (Mike) Johnson, all of Amory, and Carol (Mike) Benner of Memphis; son, David (Sue) Tidwell of Amory; sisters, Sue Dacus of Bono, Ark., and Florence Romero of Blytheville, Ark.; grandchildren, Nita and Adam Cleveland, Misty West, Heather Loden, Josh Bennett, Tanner Herring and Michaela Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Beavers, and brothers, Buddy and Thomas Dunevant.
Pallbearers will be Danny Fulton, E.C. Pierce, Barry Strevel, Cecil Cantrell, Ricky Smith and Tubby Harlow.
Visitation will continue until the service hour at the church today.

Harold Holley
GAUTIER – Harold Holley, 60, formerly of Randolph, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, in Pascagoula. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Mason and a member of the Elks Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Galen Holley officiating. Burial will be in Buckhorn Cemetery.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard Holley and Joseph Holley; three sisters, Terry Waldo, Johnnie Jones and Cathy Boone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Holley and John D. Holley.

Jack Credille
BELMONT – Tulon E. “Jack” Credille, 95, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Belmont to Sylvester Enoch and Dillie Belle Stacy Credille. He was a truck driver, and a member and deacon of Fairview Holy Church of Christ.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairview Holy Church of Christ with Bro. Brent Colley and Bro. Wayne Bumgart officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at Dennis. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are four children, Gail Berry (Jim) of Haleyville, Ala., Francis Credille and Sherry Wilson, both of Belmont, and Hermon Long (Betty) of Iuka; seven grandchildren, Eddie Moore (Beverly), David Credille (Rachel), Jeff Long (Anna), Heather Kamarainen (Brandon), Brent Colley (Mandy), Jason Long and Eugenia Nunley (Phillip); and seven great-grandchildren, Hobie Credille, Hailey Credille, Elijah Graham, Abbey Colley, Bryant Colley, Eli Long and Ella Nunley.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Oneice Credille; a son, Shermon Long; a granddaughter, Becky Graham; and two brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Moore, David Credille, Brent Colley, Jeff Long, Hobie Credille and Elijah Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Long, Brandon Kamarainen, Phillip Nunley and Danny Dennington.
Visitation will continue until service time today at Fairview Holy Church of Christ.

William M. Tisdale
ABERDEEN – William M. “Tizzy” Tisdale, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Ellisville to Elbert Washington Tisdale and Evie Elzey Tisdale. He moved to Aberdeen in 1950 to work for Lann Memorial Funeral Home, which he later purchased in the late 1950s. He was a veteran of World War II. He served as mayor of Aberdeen for three terms – 1972 to 1976, 1996-2000 and 2000-2004. He was president of the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce three times and also served as executive director of the Chamber. He was senior vice president of American Funeral Assurance Company for 10 years. He attended Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Nashville and Jones County Junior College. He was a member of the Aberdeen Rotary Club for 60 years and he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was instrumental in bringing industry into Monroe County and North Mississippi.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. David Harrell and Pat Nunnelee officiating. Burial will be in the Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandi Tisdale Ervin of Aberdeen; one son, Kenny Tisdale and wife, Pam, of Aberdeen; two sisters, Faye Sumrall and husband, Millard, and Pellie Hancock, all of Ellisville; four grandchildren, Chad Ervin and wife, Susan, of Aberdeen, Whitney Mitchell and husband, Mark, of Amory, Kenneth Tisdale and special friend, Sara Harrington, of Aberdeen, and Mary Leigh Schoolar and husband, Patrick, of Aberdeen; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Walker Mitchell of Amory; and his special caregiver, Rosie Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Mary Wallace Tisdale; two sisters, Leatrice Bustin and Laverne Sumrall; and three brothers.
Pallbearers will be the staff of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of the funeral home and Dr. Arthur Brown.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time today.

OKOLONA – Dezzie Bogan Barr, 54, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010. She was born Jan. 24, 1956, to Clayton Bogan and Charlotte Smith Bogan in the Pine Grove-Dorsey community. She was a member of Bible Way Church in Okolona. She was a seamstress, and a former employee of Futorian and Oasis Furniture.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jolly’s Chapel M.B. Church with the Rev. Dr. Henry Gladney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Marcell Barr Jr. of Okolona; two daughters, Charlene Young (Tim) of Houston and Sherry Anderson (Sylla) of Memphis; one stepdaughter, Tomeka Barr Parker of Memphis; one son, Floyd Bogan (Jackie) of Wren; four brothers, Leon Bogan of Okolona, and Clayton Bogan Jr. (Beverly), Clarance Bogan (Toni) and Christopher Bogan (Rhonda), all of Racine, Wis.; four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Neal Bogan; and a stepson, Marcell Barr III.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today with a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lavelle Hawkins
DENNIS – Lavelle Maxwell Hawkins, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka. She was born May 9, 1928, in Mississippi. She was a caretaker and attended Jordan Hill Church of God.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Jimmy Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Joel Cemetery at Dennis. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are three grandsons, Raburn Smith (Debbie) of Lynchburg, Tenn., Keith Smith of Dennis and Ben Smith (Joanna) of Belmont; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Smith and Kristen Smith, both of Lynchburg, Tenn., Raben Smith of Dennis, and Gage Smith and Kase Smith, both of Belmont; one brother, Bobby Maxwell of Dennis; one sister, Florine Ables of Dennis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilion and Deli Maxwell; three brothers, Floyd Maxwell, Flavis Maxwell and Freemon Maxwell; and two sisters, Flonnie Ables Ford and Letra Wilson.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont and until service time on Saturday.

TISHOMINGO – Teresa Gail Quillen, 48, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at her home.
