William Hamblin Sr.
COURTLAND – William Marshall Hamblin Sr., 63, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at his home in Courtland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friend from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Rhea
HOLLY SPRINGS – James David “Bubba” Rhea, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Memphis.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Shaw Rhea; his son, Jeff Rhea (Kim) of Red Banks; his daughter, Dianne Covington of Red Banks; six grandchildren, Mallary, Moriah and Macie Covington, and Amanda, Jeffery and Kelli Rhea; two brothers, William Rhea of Germantown and Travis Rhea of Olive Branch; and a sister, Pat Skelton of Olive Branch.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald David Rhea; his father, James David Rhea; and his mother, Lucille Rhea Burch.
Visitation will be at Red Banks Baptist Church from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Spring Valley Hospice in Olive Branch.

Sharron Hall
MABEN – Sharron Ann Hall, 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson Creek M.B. Church in Pheba. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Carter’s Mortuary Services.

Earnest Perry Jr.
RIPLEY – Earnest L. Perry Jr., 49, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. He was born Oct. 8, 1963, to Earnest Lee Perry Sr. and Alfia Eloise Johnson Perry. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rock Hill Church and kept his belief until his death. An active member of his community, he enjoyed singing and attending inspirational programs.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rockhill M.B. Church in Tiplersville with Pastor Lonnel Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by three sons, Edward “Pig” Prather, Earnest Lee Perry III and Shaquille Romel Perry; one sister, Jimmie Louise (Rev. Arlander) Colyer; five grandchildren; a special friend, Billy Echoles; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gwendolyn Perry; a brother, Dennis (Jackie) Perry; and his grandparents, Devo and Ruby Rainer.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a family hour from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time Friday.

Essie Holloway
HOLLY SPRINGS – Essie Lanier Bowens Holloway, 46, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at noon Friday at Rising Star M.B. Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in the Finley Grove M.B. Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The body will lie in repose at the church from 11 to 11:55 a.m. Friday.

Annie Jones
NEW ALBANY – Annie Pearl Jones, 38, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County as the result of an automobile accident. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany.

HOUSTON – Betty Joann Brown, 52, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

G.R. Thompson
POTTS CAMP – G.R. Thompson, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Graceland Nursing Home in New Albany.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Holly Springs Funeral Home with burial following at Salem Cemetery in Potts Camp.
Visitation will be 5 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edgar Ratliff
AMORY – Edgar M. Ratliff, 83, died on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at River Place Nursing Center. Born on Nov. 9, 1929, in Memphis, he was the son of the late Audrey and Lela Garrett Ratliff. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Memphis. Before retiring, he was an installer and repairer of elevators in the Memphis area for several companies located there. He later managed several convenience stores in Florida. He was of the Baptist faith. Very generous and having a big heart, he had the gift of making people laugh. He enjoyed fishing, going to the dog and horse races, and telling jokes. Before moving to Amory, he had lived in Memphis, Las Cruces, N.M., St. Petersburg, Fla., and Vancouver, Wash.
He is survived by three daughters, Sedra of Vancouver, Wash., Kathy of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kim “Kate” of Las Cruces, N.M.; three sisters, Lenora Dacus of Wren, Nancy Dacus of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Gail Van Winkle of Cherokee, Ala.; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Janet Peaks, Delores Griffin, Kay Dacus, Sherry Taylor, Shilo Barber, Darla Lockhart, David Dacus, Karen Steen, Michelle Overton, Carl Cunningham Jr., and Janet, Tammy, Carla, Billy, Cheryl and Albert Van Winkle; and three stepchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine; sister, Dorothy Ratliff; nephews, Barry Van Winkle, and Gary and Wayne Dacus; stepson, Mike; and second wife, Charlotte.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pine Grove Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

David V. Wigginton
GUNTOWN – David V. Wigginton 64, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was an expert auctioneer and real estate broker. He worked 40 years as an auctioneer for Gillentine Realty and Auction Co. He attended Hillcrest Church of Christ. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening, his dogs and reading. Known as “Poppa Wigg,” “Poppa,” “Uncle Wiggin” and “Big Wigg,” he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He was a friend to many and loved by all who knew him.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Minister Tim Childs officiating. Burial will be in Campbelltown Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jan Gillentine Wigginton of Guntown; one daughter, Jennifer Beth Henderson (Paul) of Birmingham, Ala.; one son, Nathaniel Wigginton (Brittany Griffin) of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Jake, Matthew and Nathan Henderson, all of Birmingham, and Skylar Brooke Griffin of Saltillo; one brother, Grady Wigginton (June) of Guntown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Ara Melson Wigginton.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home.

Betty Cantrell
SMITHVILLE – Betty McFarling Cantrell, 76, died on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Born June 15, 1936, in Shannon, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Ruby Cox McFarling. She married William “Dube” Cantrell on Nov. 23, 1963. Before her retirement, she worked in the garment plants in Smithville and Amory. She was a member of the Smithville Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to gospel and country music, cross stitching, word puzzle books, eating at Cracker Barrel, and spending time with family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will be in the Turon Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Lucas (Dwain) of Greenwood Springs and Mary Moreland (Don) of Amory; one son, Mike Cantrell (Lana) of Smithville; 10 grandchildren, Derek, Daniel, Jason, Misty, Melanie, Selena, W.C., Matt, Jason and Marc; and seven great-grandchildren, Makala, Madison, Randall, Devin, Mia, Bailey and Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Arthur Glen McFarling.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue until service time on Friday.

Jackie Houston
ABERDEEN – Mavis Montgomery “Jackie” Houston, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. She was born Sept. 17, 1925, to Hilry Delay Montgomery and Esther Ann Watson Montgomery in Ackerman. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen. She retired after 50 years as bookkeeper for Aberdeen Ford Dealerships. She was a member of Aberdeen First Presbyterian Church, where she served as Elder.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Aberdeen First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Freeman and the Rev. Wayne Bruchey officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Houston Kelly (Danny) of Oxford; one son, Joseph Houston of Aberdeen; three grandchildren, Joseph Kelly, Elizabeth Kelly and Daniel Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph E. Houston Jr.; an infant daughter; and a sister, Audrey Lorraine Montgomery.
Pallbearers will be family.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Sandra Sisson, Billy Hitt, Frances Craig and Bradley Lipsey.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Nancy Hampton
THAXTON – Nancy Ann Smith Hampton, 80, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at her home in Thaxton. She was born in Memphis to Otis Graves and Myrtle Mae Miller Smith. She was a member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church and the Double Circle Sunday School Class. She retired from 35 years of service as an optician for Dr. Fletcher Goode in Covington, Tenn.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Oxford-University United Methodist Church in Oxford with the Rev. Warren Black and the Rev. Clair Dobbs officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rosemark Cemetery in Rosemark, Tenn., with the Rev. Gail Bruno officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Waller Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge.
She is survived by her husband, James Roy Hampton of Thaxton; a son, Brent Smith Hampton (Sarah) of Thaxton.
Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Horne.

Viola Cauley
NEW ALBANY – Viola Harris Cauley, 73, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany. She was born in Greenville. She married John Cauley and they made their home in Indianola, where she was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was a teller at Planters Banks, retiring in 2008. She had been a resident of New Albany since 2011.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boone-Card Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Inverness. Boone-Card Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann C. Tharp of New Albany and Jo Worley of Indianola; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by a daughter, Cindy Hawkins.

Mary Stanphill
CORINTH – Mary Stanphill, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Resthaven Nursing Home in Ripley. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Pentecostal Church and a retired garment factory employee. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and outdoors.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with Bro. Rodney Whittemore officiating.
She is survived by her son, Donnie Dunn (Eva) of Corinth; daughter, Betty M. Ashcraft of Corinth; sister, Elvie Edings of Rector, Ark.; grandchildren, Kenneth and Keith Ashcraft, Michael and Trace Dunn: five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leon Dunn and Lewis Stanphill; son, Eugene Dunn; her parents, Ike and Worthey Crum; brothers, Lee Crum, Dewey Crum and Futcher Crum; and sisters, Ethel Null and Geneva Milburn.

FULTON – Zelma L. Timms Cromeans, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Columbus. She was born July 19, 1925, to Clarence Timms and Willie Ringer Timms. She was a member of Burnt Fields Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jim Wismer officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Springs Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharron (Billy) Barrett of Fulton; a grandson, Brandon (Leigh Ann) Barrett; a granddaughter, Sarah Beth Barrett; two great-granddaughters, Shelby Barrett and Samantha Barrett; three sisters-in-law, Francis Timms, Louise Cromeans and Joy Timms.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marles Cromeans; her father, Clarence Timms, and mother, Willie Timms; a sister, June Kent; and brothers, Hoarce Timms, Hollis Timms, Troy Timms and J.C. Timms.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Nichols, Mackey Nichols, David Mears, Taylor Mears, Jimmy Gray, Jim Gray and Joe Lesley.

CINCINNATI – Calvin Carlton “Carl” Burns passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Woods-Edge Pointe in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Aberdeen to Henry J. Burns and Ada Eubanks Burns.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Aberdeen with the Rev. Benjamin Wax officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Aberdeen. Jackson Mortuary of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one sister, Dr. Doris Morton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Azerline Jackson, Earline Walker, Josephine Hylton, Henry J. Burns Jr., Ann Page-El and Raymond Burns.

OXFORD – Milton Lee Lewis, 57, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Select Speciality Hospital in Memphis.
