Regina Holley
OXFORD – Mrs. Regina Moore Holley, 88, died on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at her home in Oxford.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Oxford with Dr. Eric Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Waller Funeral Home today, Feb. 15, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Mrs. Holley was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Senatobia to James Reginald Moore and Ethel Gregory Moore. She graduated from Northwest Junior College and the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, Regina was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Scholastic Fraternity and Delta Delta Delta sorority. While at Ole Miss she met and married John Reed Holley and they made their home in Oxford. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oxford for 67 years and was active in the Friendship Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Oxford Garden Club, Book Lover’s Club, a volunteer at Baptist Memorial Hospital and an avid bridge player. Gigi, as her grandchildren called her, was dedicated to their family as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a remarkable, true Southern lady, soft spoken with a generous spirit and concern for others. Her greatest joy was her family. The love she shared with them is what they will always cherish.
Mrs. Holley was preceded in death by her husband, John Reed Holley; her parents; her only sister, Elizabeth Bobo; and her daughter-in-law, Janis Holley.
She is survived by three children, Reginald Holley of Oxford, Claire Tutor and her husband, Lamar, of Tupelo and Joan Yarber and her husband, Joe, of Belden; seven grandchildren, Leslie Acker of Mantachie, Reed Nelson and his wife, Anna, of Madison, Emily Messer and her husband, Tim, of Memphis, Ashley Tomlinson of Memphis, Holley Meriweather and her husband, Clayton, of Tupelo, Catherine Yarber and Anna Claire Yarber of Belden; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Homan, Drew Hayes, Mallory Myers, Trent Tomlinson, Emily Nelson and Elizabeth Nelson. The family would like to thank Mrs. Holley’s caregivers, Lillie Walker and Mattie Tenner.

James Tutor
PONTOTOC – James Michael Tutor, 47, of Pontotoc died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2013, at his home from complications of heart failure. Mike was born in 1965 in Pontotoc and graduated Pontotoc High School in 1983. Prior to graduating high school, Mike had visited France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and England as a member of the United States Collegiate Wind Band, a touring honor band comprised of high school age youth. He worked his way through college as a broadcaster, graduating with a B.A. in political science in 1987. He earned a J.D. in law in 1990. While at Ole Miss he was a member of the Ole Miss marching and concert bands.
Mike was a longtime municipal attorney for two Mississippi towns and worked as a Youth Court prosecutor for many years. He also took pride in other important public works such as counsel to Region IV Mental Health-Mental Retardation Commission. In 2006 he became court administrator to the 1st Chancery Court District of Mississippi, serving eight North Mississippi counties.
Mike loved traveling and hiking in national parks with his children and especially attending Ole Miss sporting events with family.
He is survived by his wife of more than 20 years, Virginia Delese Palmertree Tutor; three children, Tyler, Allison and Andrew; and his mother, Marilyn Newland Tutor. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Tutor.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Burial will be in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

William Gibson
STUDIO CITY, Calif. – William Pat Gibson, 50, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. He was born July 24, 1962, in Starkville to William Pat Gibson Sr. and Gail Hunter Gibson. He was a member of Mantee Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mantee Baptist Church with Bro. William Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his son, Clark Hunter Gibson of Philadelphia; three daughters, Chelsey Gayle Gibson of Mantee, Madison Wieble Gibson of Mantee and Logan Grace Gibson of Philadelphia; one stepdaughter, Heather Palmer of Maben; his parents, William and Gail Gibson of Mantee; one brother, Dewey Lane Gibson (Carol) of Mantee; his fiancée, Angela White Grant, and her daughter, Allie Grant, of North Hollywood, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sonya Gayle Gibson; and his grandparents, William Clark Hunter and Grace F. Hunter, and Dewey Gibson and Annie Ruth Gibson.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mantee Baptist Church.

Maurice Campbell
PONTOTOC – Maurice Dale Campbell, 60, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at his residence. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran. He worked in repair and maintenance.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pontotoc Memorial Gardens in Pontotoc. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his three daughters, Rana Brasher, Angela Campbell Lentz and Stephanie Williams; one brother, Henry Colin Campbell; and six grandchildren, Toni Brasher, Candice Carter, Christie Lentz, Caleb Williams, Cameron Williams and Anthony Lentz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clay Campbell and Mary Alice “Pansy” Patton Campbell; his brother: J.L. Campbell; and his son, Corporal Adam M. Campbell.

HOUSTON – Betty Joann Brown, 52, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Donald Tatum
RIPLEY – Donald C. Tatum, 69, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McBride Funeral Home in Ripley.
Visitation will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Earnest Perry Jr.
RIPLEY – Earnest L. Perry Jr., 49, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. He was born Oct. 8, 1963, to Earnest Lee Perry Sr. and Alfia Eloise Johnson Perry. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rock Hill Church and kept his belief until his death. An active member of his community, he enjoyed singing and attending inspirational programs.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Rockhill M.B. Church in Tiplersville with Pastor Lonnel Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by three sons, Edward “Pig” Prather, Earnest Lee Perry III and Shaquille Romel Perry; one sister, Jimmie Louise (Rev. Arlander) Colyer; five grandchildren; a special friend, Billy Echoles; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gwendolyn Perry; a brother, Dennis (Jackie) Perry; and his grandparents, Devo and Ruby Rainer.
The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time today.

James Rhea
HOLLY SPRINGS – James David “Bubba” Rhea, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Memphis.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Shaw Rhea; his son, Jeff Rhea (Kim) of Red Banks; his daughter, Dianne Covington of Red Banks; six grandchildren, Mallary, Moriah and Macie Covington, and Amanda, Jeffery and Kelli Rhea; two brothers, William Rhea of Germantown and Travis Rhea of Olive Branch; and a sister, Pat Skelton of Olive Branch.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald David Rhea; his father, James David Rhea; and his mother, Lucille Rhea Burch.
Visitation will be at Red Banks Baptist Church from 1 to 3 p.m. today. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Essie Holloway
HOLLY SPRINGS – Essie Lanier Bowens Holloway, 46, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at noon today at Rising Star M.B. Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in the Finley Grove M.B. Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

Jackie Houston
ABERDEEN – Mavis Montgomery “Jackie” Houston, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. She was born Sept. 17, 1925, to Hilry Delay Montgomery and Esther Ann Watson Montgomery in Ackerman. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen. She retired after 50 years as bookkeeper for Aberdeen Ford Dealerships. She was a member of Aberdeen First Presbyterian Church, where she served as Elder.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Aberdeen First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Freeman and the Rev. Wayne Bruchey officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Houston Kelly (Danny) of Oxford; one son, Joseph Houston of Aberdeen; one brother, Al Montgomery (Bonnie) of Weir; three grandchildren, Joseph Kelly, Elizabeth Kelly and Daniel Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph E. Houston Jr.; an infant daughter; and a sister, Audrey Lorraine Montgomery.
Pallbearers will be Monty Montgomery, Steve Montgomery, Steve Clark, Tyson Langston, Joseph Kelly and Daniel Kelly.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Sandra Sisson, Billy Hitt, Frances Craig and Bradley Lipsey.

Georgia Grant
BLUE SPRINGS – Georgia Lee Sprouse Grant, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany. She was born June 15, 1930, to Wallace Lee Sprouse and Ina Buchanan Sprouse. She was a retired sewing machine operator for Joyner Fields. She loved working in her flowers and garden. She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Felix Hutchenson officiating. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Grant Fellows of Tupelo; a son, Tommy Lee Grant (Cynthia) of New Albany; two sisters Mamie Harris of Pontotoc and Otis Steele of Ripley, six grandchildren, Justin Grant (Kayla) and Jonathan Grant, both of New Albany, Chris Fellows (Kim) of McKinney, Texas, Jeff Fellows (Atina) of Blue Springs, Steven Payne (Rhonda) of Vina, Ala., and Amanda Pichette (Dale) of Cairo; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Grant; a daughter, Betty Davidson; a granddaughter, Michelle Lee Payne; two sisters, Pat Wages and Odell Oliver; two brothers, Wallace Lee Sprouse and Odis Sprouse; and a son-in-law, J.C. Fellows.

Howard Headings
BALDWYN – Howard Headings, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Veterans Home in Oxford after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Willow Springs, Mo., to Charles F. Headings and Della Jane Howard. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Massachusetts for 14 months in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, where he served a area chaplain, adjutant of the local post, area vice commander, district commander, state chaplain and on a number of committees. He also served on the National Security Commission. He retired from the ministry in in 1991 after pastoring at Highway Christian Church. He was a Mason and a member of the VFW.
Services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Joe Carraway officating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his sons, Randy Headings and Phillip Headings (Mattie), both of Tupelo; his daughter, Jill Pieczyk (Bob) of Jackson; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; stepson, Petey Hopkins of Guntown; stepdaughter, Janice Williams of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Bray and Naomi Spurgeon, and one brother, Dennis Hill.
Pallbearers will be the military.

Ned Johnson
FULTON – Ned E. Johnson, 59, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born Sept. 16, 1953, to Etchel Pete Johnson and Dessie Wayne Senter Johnson. He retired from TEI after 28 years of service. He was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed being outdoors and riding horses.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Senter Funeral Home in Fulton with Bro. Kevin Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Springs Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Melton Johnson; a daughter, Jodi (Michael) Cleary of Fulton; a son, Bradley Gates of Willmington, N.C.; two granddaughters, Amber Wheeler of Fulton and Audrey Wheeler; sister, Shelby (Julian) Hood; brother, Ralph (Jennie) Johnson of Fulton; two aunts, Gola Moses of Red Bay, Ala., and Jessie Jamerson of Fulton; in-laws, Riley Melton and Faye Melton; and brother-in-law, Ryan (Robin) Melton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Etchel Pete Johnson; his mother, Dessie Wayne Johnson; and a brother, Kenneth R. Johnson.

Dale Spradling
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Dale Wiygul Spradling went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. She was born April 25, 1927, in Shannon to James and Minnie Wiygul. From childhood, her life was always centered around her family, her faith as a Christian and service in her church. She was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1945. She loved to garden, sew, quilt and decorate. She lived most of her life in Tupelo, serving at Wesley Methodist Church. After moving to Pensacola, Fla., in 1997, she served at 1st Assembly of God Church. There she fed and ministered to the homeless and served as a greeter. Her family and friends know the world was a better place because she lived here for 85 years and they will love and miss her always.
Services will be noon Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Simms (Greg) and Gayle Rodriguez (Joshua); her grandchildren, Monty Spencer, Heath Spencer, Heatherly Cabral, Jonathan Spencer, Paige Spencer, Andrew Spencer, Marshall Simms and Grace Simms; a brother, Dan Wiygul; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; two brothers, James Roy Wiygul and John Wiygul.

SALTILLO – Dale Roberts, 57, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1956, to Kenneth and Frances Dyer Roberts. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and especially spending time with his family.

Donna Mitchell
TUPELO – Donna Jean Mitchell, 59, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. She was born July 16, 1952, to Lloyd L. Vines and Dorothy J. Greer in East Prairie, Mo. She grew up in the Assembly of God Faith. Until the time of her illness, she had a career as an LPN.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at N.L. Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Tupelo. Pastor Johnathon Moore will officiate. Her ashes will be interred in Bluff Springs Cemetery in Bellefontaine. N.L. Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Edwin Bobby Mitchell of Grenada; her sons, Eric L.Carlyle of Tupelo and Edwin Brian Mitchell of Knoxville, Tenn.; siblings, Ricky L.Vines of Tupelo, Michael “Mike” L. Vines of Tupelo and Melody M. Parker of Charleston; four grandchildren.

Alva Jackson
BARTAHATCHIE – Alva Nell Jackson, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at the Care Center of Aberdeen. She was born Oct. 13, 1933, to Jerry W. Vaughn and Viola Mae Honeycutt Vaughn in Aberdeen. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a homemaker and a member of Sulfur Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Phillip Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Cockerham Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jackson of Fayette, Ala., and Belinda Graham of Bartahatchie; one son, Stanley Jackson (Terissa) of Sulligent, Ala.; one stepson, Dennis Jackson of Caledonia; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Diane Gray
MARIETTA – Diane Eaton Gray, 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born April 27, 1950, to Hurshel and Marine Miller Eaton. She was a homemaker, and she attended Midway Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and painting.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Short officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Rest Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry Gray; one son, Wesley (Tina) Gray of New Site; three sisters, Jean (Billy) Linville of Corinth, Carolyn (Bill) Elliott of Jumpertown and Sherry (Mike) Hughes of Marietta; one granddaughter, Reily Gray; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Benny Eaton.

PONTOTOC – Mary Lucille Dowdy, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. She was a Baptist and a retired homemaker. An avid gardener, she loved cookbooks, flowers and her grandchildren.

Mildred Burns
BALDWYN – Mildred Philpot Burns, 93, died Wednesday, Feb, 13, 2013, at the Countrywood Plantation in Mantachie after an extended illness. She was a retired beautician and a member of the First Christian Church of Baldwyn. She enjoyed flower gardening and painting.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Caraway and Bro. Mike Reeves officiating. Burial in the Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one son, Rod Burns (Cindy) of Baldwyn; one daughter, Harriett Riley of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Charles N. Riley Jr., Janeau Davis, Tim Riley, Kim Eldridge, Cadley Burns and Bentley Burns; great-grandchildren, Maggie Davis, McKenzie Riley, Jake Eldridge, Jordan Eldridge, Rienzi Riley, Michael Gore, Danielle Gore, Dana Adams, Tyler Gore, Mercedes Tigner, Weston Poole, Brittnay Davis Poole, Gage Latham.
