Sgt. 1st Class Bill Sutton
MOOREVILLE – Funeral services with full military honors for Sgt. 1st Class Billy Albert “Bill” Sutton will be at 11 a.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors.
If weather permits, there will be a public entombment at Hope Mausoleum at Lee Memorial Park.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today.
A grateful nation expresses gratitude for the services rendered by this soldier and all veterans past, present and future who guarantee our freedom.

Paul Jarrell
TUPELO – Paul Calvin Jarrell, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born on Dec. 23, 1928, in Chesapeake, W.Va., to Robert and Ina Rae Jordan Jarrell.
Paul worked in the aluminum industry serving in various management positions. For nine years, he served as a United Methodist pastor to several rural churches in the coal mining areas of West Virginia. He considered his biggest achievement in life to be his marriage to his grade school sweetheart, Margaret Lavender. After eloping, they spent 64 years together. He will best be remembered for his unfailing love to his wife and family always serving their needs.
A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, with the Rev. Wade Tomlinson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. prior to service time.
His survivors include his wife, Margaret Jarrell of Tupelo; one son, Greg Jarrell and wife, Donna, of Tupelo; one daughter, Deanna Ginther of Sikeston, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Clay Jarrell and his wife, Ashley, Mary Claire Jarrell, Lacey Carroll, Lindy Carroll, John Christopher Ginther and wife, Joanne, Matt Ginther and wife, Kristin, and Todd Ginther and wife, Deanna. Great-grandchildren include Caitlin Ginther, Jacqueline Ginther, Jack Ginther, Jaydn Ginther and Jaren Calvin Ginther. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Calvin Jarrell Jr.; two brothers, Herbert Jarrell and Averille Jarrell and one sister, Priscilla Jarrell.

Mary Morgan
TUPELO – Mary Magdalene Morgan, 77, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after an extended illness. She was born in Lee County on April 19, 1934, to Gurney Morgan and Mattie Williams. She grew up in East Tupelo, where she attended school with Elvis Presley and claimed to be his first date. She enjoyed raking her yard, flower gardening, taking care of her home and playing the piano. She loved spending time with her family, who affectionately called her “Mama Sandy.” A Baptist by faith, she attended Calvary Fellowship and Worship in Tremont.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Ray Stevens officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to service time Monday only at the Tupelo Chapel.
Survivors include her children, Sonya Null (Scotty) of Thaxton, Susan Morgan of Tremont, Gary Kitchens (Shelia) of Pontotoc, Larry Williams of Tremont and Kayla Morgan of Fulton; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several half-siblings and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

PONTOTOC – Helen Gregory, 91, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc.

Verdie Dunn
CORINTH – Verdie Hastings Dunn, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Whitfield Nursing Home. She was a native of Alcorn County and the daughter of the late Waymon and Roxie Hastings. She was a homemaker and a member of Theo Holiness Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with Bro. Ronald Wilbanks and Bro. Randy Holmes officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery.
Survived by her daughters, Deborah Moss (Jerry) and Pam Beckham (Harold); son Steve Dunn (Yiqi); sister, Bobbie Glidewell (Ray); grandchildren, Jayson Null, Juston Null, Blake Moss, Haley Copeland, Roxy Beckham and Jade Null; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Tate Null; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Dunn; her parents; brothers, Guy, Marlin, Bill and Zack Hastings; and sisters, Jessie Gurley, Louise Holmes and Lois Hancock.
Pallbearers will be Mike Dellinger, Vickie Mitchell, Kenny Hastings, Jeramie Roach, Scott Roach and Tim Chapman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and noon to service time Sunday.

Onie Fortier
RIPLEY – Onie Frances Smith Fortier, 93, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at her home. She was born Dec. 4, 1918, to Fredrick Braugher and Elizabeth McCarley Smith in Ripley. She was a lifelong resident of Ripley. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., and worked at the Gulf Ordinance Factory in World War II. She married Bob Fortier in 1945 in Fort Meyers, Fla., and moved back to Ripley, where they made their home together for 64 years. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Ripley and, for many years, was an active member of tue Ripley Civic League.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Ripley with the Rev. Jason Harms officiating. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Fortier (Jeannie) of Ripley and Randy Fortier (Tish) of Whitehall, Mont.; six grandchildren, Freddie B. Fortier (Jill), Holly Coombs (Jeff), Kenneth Fortier (Libba), Bret Fortier, Nathan Fortier and Stuart Fortier; and six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Drew and Charlie Coombs, Trip Fortier, Will Fortier and John Collier Fortier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Fortier; her parents; and a grandson, Andy Fortier.
Pallbearers will be John Braddock, Donnie Cousar, Kyle Smith, Jeff Coombs, Mike Long and Witt Long.
Dr. Charles Elliott will be an honorary pallbearers.

Anner Poff
ASHLAND – Anner Sue Poff, 72, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was born July 13, 1939, in Memphis to Loyce Edward Thornton and Katherine Devore Thornton. She was a retired librarian and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Baker and Bro. Marcus Vanevery officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery at Ashland. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Joel D. Poff of Ashland; three sons, James Barber (Angie) of New Albany, Scott Poff (Paula) of Ashland and Jerry Barber of New Albany; two daughters, Debbie Poff and Sharon Hopkins (Danny), both of Ashland; one sister, Shirley Barber of Ripley; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lowell Poff; a granddaughter, Amber Poff; and her parents.

Elizabeth Unger
CORINTH – Elizabeth Ferrell Unger, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born July 9, 1926, in Hayti, Mo. She was retried from Holly’s Restaurant after 25 years as a waitress. She moved to Corinth in 1987. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Mission. She loved cooking and spending time with her animals and family.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with Bro. Tim Edwards and Bro. Donald Sculley officiating. Burial will follow in the Henry Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Ferrell (Sarah); brother, Charles Faulkner of Michigan; grandchildren, Randy Ferrell (Lantz), Lisa Jones (Johnny), Brain Ferrell (Lisa); and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jessica, Mark, Ben, Andrew, Eli Ferrell and Annie Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Unger; her parents, Charles and Willie Ann Faulkner; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Faulkner.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Nettie Cobb
SHANNON – Nettie E. Cobb, 99, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at the Reed Greenhouse at Cedars. She was born April 28, 1912, to Abe and Naomi Lipford. She was a lifelong resident of Lee County. For most of her life, she was a member of Oak Valley Christian Church and a member of the Lee County Homemakers Club for many years.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Horton officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Minnie Dale Dillard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Cobb, on May 6, 1988; five brothers; four sisters; and an infant sibling.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Pannell, Dennis Cobb, Bobby Lipford, Joe McKinney, Ken Robbins and Benji Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lee County Homemakers Club.

Nell Moore
IUKA – Nell Moore, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. A lifelong resident of Iuka, she was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. She was a sought after caregiver, and sat with many elderly people. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, and visiting her sister and nieces and nephews in Texas.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka with Bro. William Burcham and Lance Foster officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Walter Vaughn (Patty) of Iuka; a daughter, Alisa Parsons (Terry) of Iuka; a stepdaughter, Linda Carson (Charles) of Corinth; a brother, Jim Goss of Iuka; four grandchildren, Karisha Devlin (Dan), Logan Vaughn (Kristina), Brigitte Lange (Kris) and Justin Parsons; two stepgrandchildren, Stacy Sitton (Scott) and Chris Carson; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milford Moore and Roy Vaughn; her grandson, Sgt. Jason Walter Vaughn; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Justin Parsons, Kris Lange, Logan Vaughn, Kerry Milligan, John Davis Murphy, Frank Tompkins and Billy Terry.

Eudora Patrick
RIPLEY – Eudora Booker Yates Patrick, 91, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. She was born on Jan. 13, 1921, to Ira and Pearl Akins Booker in Ripley. She was a faithful member of the Ripley Church of Christ from her childhood until her death. She began working at City Drug the week World War II began and worked there 54 years. After the closing of City Drug, she worked at Ripley Drug for seven years until she was 79 years old.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ripley Church of Christ with Dr. Patrick Chapman and Minister Donnie DeBord officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Gardens. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Ray Booker Yates of Ripley; one daughter, Alice Yates Grisham (Rex) of Blue Mountain; two foster daughters, Carla Cole (Johnny) of Ripley and Rebecca May (Tim) of Hickory Flat; one stepson, Edwin Patrick; 10 grandchildren, Jason Patrick, Ryan Grisham (Courtney), Mary Ray Gooch (Grant), Carl Ann Yates, Shelby Orman, Dustin Cockrell, Colby Cockrell, Cayson Cole, Brittany May and Kyle May; and four great-grandchildren, Levi, Quay and Decker Gooch, and Zadie Grisham.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Yates; her second husband, Raymond Patrick; her parents; one daughter-in-law, Tracey Meeks Yates; a sister, Violet Gandy; and one brother, Donald Booker.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Grisham, Colby Padgett, Dustin Cockrell, Grant Gooch, Kyle May and Jason Patrick.

IUKA – Beatrice “Bee” Prather, 90, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. She loved working in her yard and spending time with her family.
