Wyleene Nichols
MANTACHIE – Doris Wyleene Nichols, 79, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 16,1933, in Itawamba County to Roy Earnest Bryant Sr. and Zemma Maxine DeVaughn Bryant. She married Wiley Cratus Nichols on Aug. 18, 1948. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Prior to becoming disabled in 1977, she worked in various positions from factory work and restaurant food service, to becoming the first police woman in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She was also a private investigator in Lee and Itawamba Counties. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family, watching soap operas and NASCAR. When she became unable to garden outside, she used her “green thumb” to nurture a wide array of house plants.
A private celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date at the request of the family. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Purnell (Kim) of Palm Bay, Fla., and Sandy Schoenberger (Willie) of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Nichols of Mantachie; one brother, Max Albert Bryant (Paula) of Fulton; five grandchildren, Joey Frederick (Bekah) of Pensacola, Fla., Jill Helsel (Kamron) of Palm Bay, Fla., Chris Schoenberger of Gainesville, Fla., Brandy Hawkes (Bret) and Brittany Miskell (Jeffrey), both of Mantachie; and six great-grandchildren, Alex Frederick, Nick Miskell, Kaylee Miskell, Kyler Helsel, Kollin Helsel and Jaycee Vanstory.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Nichols; one brother, Roy E. Bryant Jr.; and her parents and grandparents.

Hubert Fisher
ABBEVILLE – Hubert “Soot” Fisher, 62, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.

Willie Stroud
MEMPHIS – Willie Mae Denton Stroud, 97, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Quince Nursing Home and Rehab in Memphis. She was born in Union County on March 16, 1915. She was a retired supervisor from ACB in Memphis and she was a Baptist.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time.
Survivors include one son, Dewitt “Sonny” Stroud (Linda) of Germantown, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kenneth Damon Stroud (Christy) of Charleston, Jeff Stroud (Stephanie) and Jennifer Stroud Ezzell (Mason), all of Memphis; and five great-grandchildren, Kody Stroud, Destyne Stroud, Mason Ezzell, Wilson Ezzell and Witt Ezell.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Denton Hollis, and one brother, A.Q. Denton.

WEST POINT – Marcus R. Sims, 60, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point. Burial will follow in Palo Alto Cemetery in West Point.
Visitation will be from noon to service time today.

Price Harrison
BATESVILLE – Price B. Harrison, 90, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services will be at noon today at First United Methodist Church in Batesville. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John Herman
WEST POINT – John W. Herman, 59, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his home.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Mary Lee Glover Belfor, 97, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at her home in Holly Springs.

OLIVE BRANCH – Fannie Mae Jones, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, Tenn.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Taska M.B. Church at Cayce. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

RIPLEY – Earnest L. Perry, 49, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley.

Georgia Stanton
HICKORY FLAT – Georgia Elaine Stanton, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Union County to Vardaman Brisco and Verona Beal Brisco. She was a Baptist and an employee of Wurlitzer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Brownie Tohill officiating. Burial will be in McKay Cemetery at Hickory Flat.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Stanton of Hickory Flat and David Stanton (Diane) of Potts Camp; four daughters, Robbie Hall (Tom) of New Albany, Brenda Brown (Charles) of Hickory Flat, Gail Moorman (Scott) of Myrtle and Holly Russell (Shay) of Fulton; two brothers, Jimmy Brisco of Myrtle and Ronnie Brisco of Hickory Flat; four sisters, Mary Mills, Laxine Lemons and Betty Schneider, all of Potts Camp, and Charlotte Brisco of Memphis; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Stanton; her parents; a son, Scotty Stanton; and a daughter, Gloria Gresham.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Becky Clifton
POTTS CAMP – Sarah Rebecca “Becky” Clifton, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. She was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Benton County to Oliver Clayton and Ollie Holder Clayton. She was a homemaker and a quilter, and a member of First Baptist Church of Potts Camp.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Potts Camp Baptist Church with Bro. Ken Cooper and Bro. Chuck Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Temperance Hill Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Henry M. Clifton (Joyce), Charles W. Clifton (Glenda) and Ray Clifton (Bonnie), all of Potts Camp; one daughter, Estelle Clifton McClure (Billy) of Red Banks; one sister, Irene Howell of Hickory Flat; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Clifton, and her parents.

GOLDEN – Phyllis Helen Maness, 65, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at her home.

Betty Jean Nelson
TUPELO – Betty Jean Cole Nelson, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility after an extended illness. A native of Itawamba County, she was born Oct. 27, 1930, to Dee and Alma Clayton Cole. She graduated from Mooreville High School, where she was a member of the state championship basketball team. For nearly 30 years she worked as a sales clerk at Super D Drug Store. She was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and sewing.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson-in-law, the Rev. Rickey Kelly, officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include four daughters, Gail Mattox (Edwin) of Belden, Cheryl Park (Terry) of Tupelo, Jean Vails (Wayne) of Saltillo and Melissa Smith (Jerry) of Fulton; her son, Wayne Johnson of Tupelo; 10 grandchildren, Terri Smith (Pat) of Saltillo, Scott Mattox (Michelle) of Saltillo, Angie Kelly (Rev. Rickey Kelly) of Booneville, Dennis Park (Rhonda) of Tupelo, April George (David) of Tupelo, Alicia Johnson of Tupelo, Wendi McFerrin (Stacy) of Tupelo, Quinton Vails of Saltillo, Jessica Smith (Michael) of Pontotoc and Brent Smith of Fulton; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Nelson; her first husband and the father of her children, Truman Johnson; two brothers, Memory Cole and Dee Witt Cole; and two sisters, Mildred Barnett and Nell Comer.
Pallbearers will be Brent Smith, Dennis Park, Scott Mattox, Quinton Vails, David George, Kyle Park and Brandon Smith.

WALNUT – Hermie L. Flake Nails, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born Jan. 6, 1924, to William E. and Wardie E. Wilbanks Flake in Tippah County. She was a retired nurse assistant at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Walnut.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Walnut with Bro. Lamb and Bro. Trent officiating. Burial will be in Camp Ground Cemetery at Walnut. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one sister, Mary E. Montgomery (Charles David) of Chalybeate; two brothers, J.G. Flake (Billie Sue) of Walnut and the Rev. Wayne Flake (Sue) of Pocohontas, Tenn.; a special niece and caregiver, Dianne Voyles (Billy) of Walnut; and a host of stepchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Rupert Bennett; her second husband, J.B. Bobo; her third husband, Woodrow Nails; her parents; four brothers, Roy, Bill, Thomas and C.D. Flake; and three sisters, Sarah Clyde Wilbanks, Lettie Wilbanks and Jewel Flake.

BLUE MOUNTAIN – Alma Earnestine Hendrix Koon, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born Nov. 18, 1931, to Tine and Sudie Lauderdale Hendrix in Booneville. She was a homemaker and caregiver, and a member of West Ripley Church of Christ.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Minister Jerry Owen officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Garden in Ripley.

RIPLEY – Alma Irene Cheatwood Richardson, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born May 1, 1923, to Wilbur and Rosa Lancaster Cheatwood in Lexington, Okla. She was retired from Red Kap Manufacturing, where she worked for 37 1/2 years. She was a faithful member of Ripley Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with the Rev. William Connolly and Elder Brad Crump officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Garden in Ripley.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Eugene Richardson (Betty) of Ripley; four grandchildren, Carol Heavener (Don), Randy Inman (Angie), Jeannie Grisham (Brian) and Gary Adair (Ann); eight great-grandchildren, Josh Heavener, Haley Heavener, Anna Lauren Inman, Ashlyn Inman, Keith Grisham, Chase Grisham, Vince Adair and Rhonda Dunahue; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Eugene Richardson; one daughter, Betty Hobson; and four brothers and four sisters.

CORINTH – William Wayne Voyles, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at his home.

GUNTOWN – Angel Marie Larson, 37, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at her home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Kesler Funeral Home of Baldwyn.

George S. Miller
MOOREVILLE – George S. Miller, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a lengthy illness. A Nettleton native, he was born March 16, 1933, to Robert Davies and Mary Laforie Williams Miller. He was a 1952 graduate of Mooreville High School. After graduating from high school, he began his stellar military career with the United States Army and later joined the U.S. Air Force where he retired as a staff sergeant. Upon his retirement from military service, he owned and operated Miller’s Machine and Welding Shop and was known throughout the community for his ability and talent in being able to fix or repair most anything. After retiring, he remained active around the family farm raising cattle and growing and selling hay. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge 97, a Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a longtime member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Sammy Washburn and the Rev. Jim Manley officiating. Graveside services with Masonic rites will follow in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
He was survived by one sister, Bobbie Gene Miller of Mooreville.
Pallbearers will be Craig Pearce, Riley Farris, David Estes, Jimmy Sheffield, Jeff Thomas, Phil Byram, Phillip Williams and Byram Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Richmond Masonic Lodge, James Tucker and Jimmy Hussey.

Nellie Streeter
HOUSTON – Nellie Mae Streeter, 88, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. She was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Fouke, Ark., to Webb McCormick and Lydia McFerrin McCormick. She was a well-known nurse and known for her fried apple pies and butter roll. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Services will be at noon today at Memorial Funeral Home of Houston with the Rev. Wade Mathis officiating. Burial will be at Poplar Springs Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lana Pepper (Bruce) of Houston and Dianne Womack (Donnie) of Mantee; one brother, J.Z. McCormick of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Jan Hollingsworth, Gene Kimbrough, Jason Womack, Jennifer Callahan, Lori Reifers, Craig Pepper, Mike Pepper and Rhonda Coleman; numerous great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Alice Strickland; and close friends, Penny, Ronnie, Nikki and Lizzie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Basco Streeter; and her parents, Webb and Lydia McCormick.
Pallbearers will be Gene Kimbrough, Jason Womack, Heath Hollingsworth, Matt Callahan and Gabriel Womack.
Honorary pallbearer will be Aaron Streeter Womack.
