OKOLONA – Eddie Betts died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Williams Memorial Funeral Home in Okolona.
Freeda Smith
FULTON – Freeda Lambert Smith, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1927, in Tishomingo County to Grady and Gertrude Jourdan Lambert. She worked in the shoe department at Reed’s in Tupelo for 49 years. She loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors and taking care of her flowers.
Services will be at 11a.m. Wednesday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Eugene Digby officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
Survivors include two sons, Danny Lambert Smith of Dorsey and Ronnie Aurthor Smith of Fulton; three grandchildren, Tina Castleberry, Barry Daniel Smith and John David Smith; two great-grandchildren, Carly Castleberry and Jake Blake Smith; one sister-in-law, Ida Gilliland Lambert of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldra “Little Hon” Smith on Nov. 20, 1998; her parents; and two brothers, Norma Haskell Lambert and Aaron “Butch” Lambert.
Pallbearers will be Butch Lambert Jr., Scotty Lambert, Jerry Wayne Palmer, John David Smith, Ricky Smith and Morris McCain.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Christy Reynolds
TREMONT – Christy Parmer Reynolds, 29, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, in Itawamba County as the result of an automobile accident. She was born Aug. 27, 1981, in Florida. She attended Tremont High School and was an employee of Tiffin Motor Homes in Red Bay. She was an avid Auburn football fan and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her children.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Altar Baptist Church in Tremont with Bro. Paul Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Reynolds; one daughter, Abigail Reynolds; one son, Tyler North, all of Tremont; two step-sons, Andrew and Brandon Reynolds, both of Mantachie; her mother, Paula Rogers Jones of Golden; one brother, Murray Rogers of Tremont; five sisters, Amanda Parmer Tyler of Dennis, Stacey Parmer Ensey and Ericca Parmer, both of Lake Wells, Fla., Mauricia Parmer Tintinger and Ciji Parmer Colburn, both of Red Bay; her grandmother, Joyce Collins, of Immokalee, Fla.; a special aunt, Trish Rogers Lambert of Iuka; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William James Parmer Jr.; and her grandparents, Billy Wayne and Dorothy Rogers and Perry Collins and William Parmer Sr.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Payne, Ricky Scott, George Wright, Shannon Cockren, Mike Emerson and Donald “Duck” Reynolds.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Altar Baptist Church.

FULTON – Richard K. Bennett, 72, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, in Virginia. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Senter Funeral Home.

Jamie Owens
BLUE SPRINGS – James Michael “Jamie” Owens, 25, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. He was born Jan. 7, 1985, in New Albany to Michael Owens and Mary Bramlett Owens. He was a good-hearted person, who enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and riding four-wheelers. He also loved his dogs.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at United Funeral Service with the Rev. Jason Pilcher officiating. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his father, Michael Owens of New Albany; his mother, Mary Bramlett Owens of Blue Springs; his paternal grandparents, Riley Jack Owens and Nellie Harrington of Hickory Flat; his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Rosa Nell Bramlett of Blue Springs; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Owens and Ashley Michelle Owens of Blue Springs; a stepsister, Tonya Stegall of Pontotoc; a stepbrother, Kato Erickson of New Albany; and a half-brother, Randy Lynn Stinson of New Albany.
Pallbearers will be Lester Owens, Lester Owens Jr., Ronnie Owens, Kato Erickson, Joe Rodgers, Blake Lee and Fernando Pina.

Aubrey Walker
OXFORD – Aubrey W. Walker, 86, a retired power plant operator at The University of Mississippi, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at his home. Born in Craighead County, Ark., Walker was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church and the O.D. Smith Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the York Rite, and he was a Wahabi Shriner. He was a member of the Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department and the Lafayette County Search and Rescue.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Morgan and the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Marie F. Walker of Oxford; two daughters, Shirley Mason (Robert) of Oxford and Rebecca Bennett Grier (Jackie) of Calhoun City; four grandchildren, Steven Bennett (Sonya) of Charleston, Carla-Jo Rutledge (Tony) of Oxford, Terry Bennett (Kayla) of Ridgeland and Karen Mason of Oxford; two step grandchildren, Marsha Morgan of Starkville and Robert Grier (Heather) of Calhoun City; two great-grandchildren, William Kyle Bennett and Kristen Lynn Bennett of Ridgeland; and four step great-grandchildren, Lindsay Rae McKay of Charleston, Tyler Reid Morgan of Ackerman, Gabe Hunter Morgan of Ackerman and Daraka Renee Grier of Calhoun City.

HOLLY SPRINGS – La-Trice Vershay Faulkner, 28, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Alliance HealthCare System.

Hazel Tucker
TUPELO – Hazel Adderholt Tucker, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at the Green Houses at Traceway after an extended illness. She was born in Tupelo on March 11, 1917, to John and Lucy On Adderholt. She was a very active member of Harrisburg Baptist Church since 1937, where she taught children’s Sunday school classes for over 40 years and helped with Vacation Bible School every year. In 1937, she began working in the Tupelo City School System and served as manager of the caferteria at Joyner, Rankin and Thomas Street until her retirement in 1982. She was the widow of Clifton Reid Tucker whom she married June 11, 1935.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Dr. Forrest Sheffield and the Rev. David Langerfeld officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Reid Tucker of Tupelo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Reid Tucker in 1998; her parents; four brothers, Troy, Carl, Eulis and Buddy Adderholt; and three sisters, Nola Cantrell, Bessie Blackwell and Daisy Randle.
Pallbearers will be Andy Anderson, James Wilemon, Dale Breland, Kevin Coward, Mike Maynard and Chuck Davis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

CORINTH – Helen Cheryl Latch, 60, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1950. She worked for ITT, Magnolia Regional Health Center and Southern Pipe and Supply. She attended the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Chris Latch (Jennifer) of Corinth; a daughter, Angela Morgan (Todd) of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Madeline Morgan, Hayden Latch and Lindley Latch; her mother, Margaret Elizabeth Jones Mosley of Corinth; her father, Grover Cleave Mosley (Peggy) of California; half-brothers, Bobby Mosley and Kenny Mosley of California; the father of her children, Jerry Latch; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde Jones and Margaret Tenneyson Jones, Lola Mosley and Robert Jasper Mosley.

Edison Hathcock
SMITHVILLE – Edison C. “Pork Chop” Hathcock, 75, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice. Born on Oct. 10, 1935, in Monroe County. He was a son of Trudie Pickle and Eddie Hathcock Sr.
Mr. Hathcock attended Hatley schools. After retiring as a machinist from Walker Manufacturing, he drove a bus for Lift, Inc. Mr. Hathcock was of the Primitive Baptist faith. An outdoorsman, he loved his dogs and hunting and fishing, especially running trout lines. He founded Section Branch Hunting Club and was a member of James Creek Hunting Club. A special man with a big heart who never met a stranger, Mr. Hathcock enjoyed trading/bartering, being a prankster and watching Hee Haw. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Tim McMillan and his nephew, Andy Hathcock officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a daughter, Tina (Greg) Coker of Smithville; son, Phillip E. “Chop” Hathcock of Fulton; sister, Florence Knight of Kenosha, Wis.; brother, John A. Hathcock of Hatley; grandchildren, Courtney Harper of Nashville and Alan Coker of Amory; great-grandchildren, Logan Coker, Hayden Harper and Conner Coker; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bruce Williams, Jimmy Umfress and Jimmy Dahlem.
