MEMPHIS – Hudson B. “Hud” Holmquist, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Kirby Pines Manor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Memphis. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will continue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Masonic Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Dorothy Cook
TUPELO – Dorothy Edith Cook, 79, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. She was born May 30, 1933, in Brooklyn, Miss. She met and exceeded at every challenge life seemed to send her. She was very loved by her family.
A private memorial service will be held for the family. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors will be in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Gloria Jean McDonald of Wiggins, Johnny Anderson of Brooklyn, Michael Anderson (Renate) of Byhalia, Jerry Cook Sr. (Linda) of Gautier; 10 grandchildren, Kim, Loretta, Angel, Michael Paul, LeCole, Sandy, Rose, Jerry Jr., Stephanie and Michelle; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Cook; her parents, Robert Wallace and Dorothy LeMaster; and one brother, Jimmy Wallace.

Donny Weed
PRAIRIE – Donald Avery “Donny” Weed, 75, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Pioneer Hospital in Aberdeen. He was born Dec. 22, 1937, in Chickasaw County to Lucy Jeanette Boyce and Andrew Melvin Weed. He was of the Baptist faith.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Bro. Bobby Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery of Houston. Calvert Funeral Home is in charge the of arrangements.
Survivors include five sisters, Bobbie Ann Weed, Kay W. Howard, Nancy Cheryl Weed, Linda Wilson and Penny McKellar, all of Priairie; and five brothers, Bill Weed of Scurry, Texas, John Weed of Dallas, Texas, Tony Weed, Melvin Ray Weed and Carl Weed, all of Prairie.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Weed, Dustin Weed, Scott Howard, Danny White, Alvis Warren and Robert Parker.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home.

Albert Farrar Jr.
OXFORD – Albert Lafayette “Snake” Farrar Jr., 48, passed away on Sunday, Jan.13, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. He was born in Macon on Nov. 28, 1964, to Albert Lafayette Farrar Sr. and Virginia Joyce Latch. He was an owner operator with Swift Transportation in New Albany. He attended The Word of Life Church in Oakland. He was a private in the U.S. Army. He was an avid car enthusiast with a special interest in old and antique cars.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Latch and the Rev. Michael Haas officiating. Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery in Coffeeville.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Crocker Farrar of Oxford; a daughter, Kristina Farrar of Tupelo; a son, Derek Farrar (Jordan) of Baldwyn; a stepdaughter, Andrea Fitts of Oxford; two stepsons, Bradley Fitts and Carey Fitts, both of Oxford; two brothers, Barney Farrar and William Farrar (Jennifer); six grandchildren, Aydan, Brylee, Eli and Aynslee Farrar, Brayleigh Goodwin and Damion Aldrich; three nephews, Clint Farrar, and Chaise and Jackson Farrar; and one niece, Carrie Farrar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Olillie Cummings
MILWAUKEE – Olillie Freeman Young Cummings, 77, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Milwaukee, Wis. She was born in 1935 in Saltillo to Cornelia Watson Freeman and George Freeman. Prior to moving to Milwaukee, she was a member of Kohlheim Chapel in Guntown, where she loved singing praises to her Lord and Savior. She had great love and affection for her family. She will be remembered for her singing, kind heart and beautiful spirit. She married Preston Young who preceded her in death and later married Melvin Cummings who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a stepbrother, Charlie McKinney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; stepfather, Claude McKinney; sisters, Mamie Bobo, Pauline Jones, Arvilla Meachum, Nora McCoy, Cora Daniels, Minnie Burdine; and brothers, George Freeman Jr., A.T. Freeman, Sammy Lee Freeman, Chank Freeman, Jim Freeman, Cleo Penson, Buddy Penson, Zeke Penson and Ollie Penson; and a host of stepsisters and stepbrothers.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Northwest Funeral Chapel of O’Bee, Ford & Frazier, in Milwaukee.

Eddie Agnew
BALDWYN – Eddie Agnew, 98, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born July 3, 1915, in Lee County to Willie Agnew and Rosanna Young Agnew. He was a member of Sandhill M.B. Church in Baldwyn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sandhill M.B. Church in Baldwyn with the Rev. Danny Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by four daughters, Annise Roland of Booneville, Glisteen Cook and Mary (Cleven) Hasting, both of Baldwyn, and Hattie Agnew of Davenport Fla.; two sons, Odell (Julie) Agnew of Las Vegas, Nev., and Charlie M. Agnew of Baldwyn; one brother, Willie B. Agnew of Colunbus, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three children, one great-great-grandchild, three sisters and six brothers.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today and the family hour from 5 to 6 p.m. today.

BRUCE – Patsy Carolyn Thomas Poindexter, 72, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at her home. She was born April 14, 1940, in Bruce. She was a homemaker and a member of Parker Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Bro. Paul Morris will officiate, and Bro. Joe Owens will assist. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery of Bruce.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest E. Poindexter of Bruce; one daughter, Jan (Charlie) Spradling of Bruce; one son, Steve (Cathy) Poindexter of Bruce; two sisters, Betty Gregory of Bruce and Faye Howell of Oxford; one brother, James N. “Buddy” Thomas of Starkville; four grandchildren, Shadda Dunn of Bruce, Amanda Bennett of Bruce, Charlie Ann Spradling of Bruce and Adam Spradling of Wiggins; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rubert Noel Thomas and Bobbye Jewel Hendrix Thomas.
Pallbearers will be John Brower, Keith Camp, Jeff Cook, Matt Daughdrill, David Hill and Jeff Patton.

BOONEVILLE – Celia L. Lindsey, 80, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 9, 1932, to Oscar and Ola King. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a member of the ladies prayer group.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Mark McCoy and Bro. Pete McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors are three daughters, Joyce King of Corinth, Sherry Jackson of Booneville and Tina (Steve) Taylor of New Site; one son, Randy (Debra) Lindsey of Decatur, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Lisa Shook, Kevin King, Tyler Dickey, Bridget Jackson, Jessica Lindsey, Brian Lindsey, Michael Taylor and Lindsey Taylor; five great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Zuann King of Booneville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Lindsey; her parents; one sister, Deal Dodds; and one brother, Cefus King.

Geneva Pearson
SALTILLO – Geneva Pearson, 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility. A native of Shannon, she was born Oct. 13, 1922, to Lewis and Rennie Clementine Lyons. She was a longtime resident of Lee County and lived 47 years in Saltillo. She retired with Purnell’s Pride in December 1985 after many years of service. She loved her family, spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Earlier in her life she enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and was a lifelong flower and vegetable garden enthusiast. She was a member of Guntown Assembly of God.
Services will be at 11a.m. Thursday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Merle Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Euclatubba Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Fay Owens and Linda Raines, both of Saltillo, Judy Barnett of Guntown and Barbara Raines (James) of Saltillo; two sons, Billy Wayne Miller (Frances) and Thomas Pearson (Linda), both of the Unity community; one brother, James Lyons of the Unity community; 18 grandchildren, Mary Frances Owens (Richard) of Saltillo, Matthew Miller (Ginger) of the Unity community, Steve Owens (Renee) of the Kirkville community, Debbie Cameron (Eric) of Saltillo, Nancy Lansdell (Mike) of Eggville, Scotty Owens (Crista) of the Alpine community, Dudley Owens (Angie) of Saltillo, Alan Raines (Glenda) of Randolph, Janice Moore (Perry) of Saltillo, David Raines (Rachel) of Saltillo, Kayla Dunaway (Tony) of Guntown, Mark Barnett (Deb) of Red Bay, Ala., Kevin Barnett (Holly) of Saltillo, Greg Barnett (Angeline) of Tremont, Tina Meeks (Kirk) of Saltillo, Becky Huddleston (Troy) of Sebastopol, Clay Pearson (Tracy) of the Unity community and Chad Pearson (Emily) of Iuka; 49 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Miller and John Pearson; her parents; one brother, Robert Lyons; three sisters, Lillie Bell Lyons, Mittie Jane Smith and Sudie Pettigo; three grandchildren, Alana Dobbs, Sandra Kay Raines and Sharron Barnett; one great-grandchild, Ryan Meeks; three sons-in-law, Gerald Owens, John Wayne Raines and Hoyle Barnett.

BOONEVILLE – Vera Cochran Downs, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was born Oct. 12, 1923, to Taylor and Cordelia Scott Cochran. She was retired from Plumrose and she attended Little Brown Free Will Baptist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Russell Clouse officiating. Burial will be in the Little Brown Cemetery.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Suzette (Greg) Blair of Potts Camp, Richard Fleming of Minooka, Ill., Jessica (Jeff) Burnside of Baldwyn, and Nikki Lindley, Tiffany (Phillip) Taylor and Melissa (Pepper) Clayton, all of Booneville; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Downs; her parents; three sisters, Betra Sanford, Verlon Adams and Opal Cochran; and two brothers, Ross and Roy Cochran.

CALHOUN CITY – Emma Joyce Holloway Kirk, 79, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Calhoun Health Service. She was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Hardin County, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a member of Duncan Hill Baptist Church, the Women’s Auxiliary and the American Legion.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with the Rev. Buford Usry, the Rev. Tony Curtis and the Rev. Lynn Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Hill Cemetery in Derma.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Joyce Lyles of Gastonia, N.C., and Pamela Monette Trebbel of Coffeeville; four sons, Dr. Ricky Wayne (Lady Frances) Holloway of Eupora, Christopher Boyd (Patsy) Holloway of Baldwyn, Edward Earl (Jackie) Kirk of New Albany and Franklin Ottis Drew (Betty) Kirk of Water Valley; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin L. Holloway; her second husband, Eddie Ottis Kirk; a daughter, Tamasina Sue Holloway Rogers; her parents, William Clellon Hughes and Rejina Grace Smith Hughes; two sisters, Anna Loyd Hughes Smith and Flora Joan Hughes Chrestman; two brothers, William Clevis Hughes and Raymond Clellon Hughes.
Pallbearers will be Eddie “Bubba” Kirk, Jason Kirk, Ben Kirk, Christopher Marvin Holloway, James Carl Lyles, Anthony Benjamin Curtis and Johnathan Titus Curtis.
