James White
MABEN – James H. White, 93, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. He was a member of the Maben United Methodist Church. He served with the 9th. Infantry Division in World War II in eight campaigns, from North Africa and Sicily to France, Belgium and Germany. He worked as a self-employed carpenter who was known as a man of integrity in his character and workmanship. He was an avid reader and student of history. He had a mechanical mind and preferred fashioning a part from a piece of metal or wood rather than purchasing one. His hobbies included gardening, puttting up vegetables and making homemade bread. First and foremost he loved God and his family: wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Providence Cemetery near Maben.
He is survived by a daughter, Elane (Edd) Finley of Amory; two sons, Jim “Jimmy” (Cris) White of Newton and Paul (Melanie) White of Cullowhee, N.C.; a sister, Corinne Springer of Maben; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) Wigginton, Rachel (Kenneth) Thomas, Matt (Rachel) White, Zach (Amy) White, Christa (Kyle) Kerby, and Laureu Finley; eight great-grandchildren, Spencer, Drew and Lily Wigginton, Newt, Katie, Houston and Jane Thomas and Rebekah White.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Matty Vell Harpole White.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Josephine Parivechio-Pastis
TUPELO – Josephine Parivechio Pastis, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, a few days before her 73rd birthday after a brief illness. She was born in Santa Barbara, California on Jan. 25, 1940. She lived her life in Marietta, Georgia but had recently moved to Tupelo to be closer to her family.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at the funeral home followed by stateroom services at 7 p.m. Monday at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Survivors include her children, Jack L. Pastis and wife, Chantana and Antonia Hankins; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jay and Kelly Pastis (Jacob and McKenzie), Alexis and Jason Glidewell (Nicholas and Carson), Andrew Pastis (Layla and Talon), Anthony and Noel Pastis (Isabella) and T.J. and Callie Richey (Rylan).
She was preceded in death by parents, James and Lillian Parivechio; two sons, Anthony James Pastis and Nicholas James Pastis; her brother, James Parivechio, Jr. and “Tupelo” her devoted and most loved dachshund.

Linda Gray
NETTLETON – Linda Wright Gray, 59, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at her residence. She was born Aug. 23, 1953, in Sunflower County to Mitchell Fair and Annie Lee Gray Wright. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Professors of Jesus Name Church. She enjoyed knitting and loved her dogs.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Professors of Jesus Name Church in Nettleton, officiated by Bro. Eddie Clayton. Burial was in Wiygul Cemetery in Nettleton. Otts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Gray Jr. of Nettleton; brother, Homer Lee Wright of Nettleton; and sister, Jo Ann Brown of Nettleton.
She was preceded by her parents, Mitchell Fair and Annie Lee Wright; son, Junior Dale Gray; and brother, Jimmy Dale Wright.

John Brower Sr.
WATER VALLEY – John Gilford Brower Sr., 90, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was a retired farmer and switchman for Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church and Pine Valley Historical Society. He loved his family, gardening and farming. He served in World War II.
Service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Charlie Fitts officiating. Interment is at Turkey Creek Cemetery in Water Valley.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda B. Gholson (Jim), Marty B. Taylor, Alice Brower, all of Water Valley and Ellen Samuels (Art) of Foley, Ala.; two sons, John Brower Jr. (Carolyn) and David Brower (Sherry), both of Water Valley; one sister, Charlotte Grass (Andy) of Water Valley; sister-in-law, Argie Brower of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Scoot Taylor (Shelly), Tim Gholson (Emily), Jake Campbell (Courtney), John “Trey” Brower (Laura), Cody Brower, Lori Woodard (Derrick), Melissa Kinzey(Chad), Angel Gohlson, Zack Brower; and great-grandchildren, Corri A. Cook, Zach Taylor, Audrey A. Taylor, Kelsey Kimzey, Sidney Kimzey, Aaron Gholson, Reagan Gohlson and Bentlee Campbell.
Proceeded in death by his wife, Oyer Olline Cofer Brower; mother, Vera Mosby Brower; father, U.S. Brower; three brothers, Danny Brower, Eugene Brower and Sidney Brower; one sister, Joyce Tulley; and grandson, Jason Rogers.
Pallbearers are Tim Gohlson, Scoot Taylor, Zack Brower, Cody Brower, Jake Campbell and Derrick Woodard. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Grass, Billy B. Williamson, Colto Brower, Zach Taylor, Trey Brower and Lynn Havens.

PONTOTOC – Brenda Faye Jackson Cole, 65, of the Furrs community, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice in Verona. She was born on May 25, 1947, in Amory to Lucian Carl Jackson and Mary Etta Ridings Jackson. She retired from Super Sagless where she worked in data processing for many years. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
There will be no local services. Holland Funeral Directors Tupelo Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Lynn Buckingham of Foley, Ala.; one brother, William Floyd Jackson of Aberdeen; and one sister, Peggy Jean Jackson Morgan Smith of Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; four brothers, James Allen Jackson, Billy Truette Jackson, Herbert Leroy Jackson and Carl Junior Jackson; one sister, Thelma Louise Jackson Garrett; and a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Peters.

BURNSVILLE – Garry Philip Moore, 72, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories. Interment is at Burnsville Cemetery with military honors.

Connie Hill
BLUE MOUNTAIN – Connie Bell Crutcher Hill, 71, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Community Hospice Home Darlington Oaks in Verona. She was born on March 4, 1941, to John Robert and Nina Opal Roper Crutcher in Clarksdale. She was formerly employed at BenchCraft in Blue Mountain and Noah’s Ark in Ripley. She was a member of Lowrey Memorial Baptist Church in Blue Mountain.
Service is at 1 p.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley, with Bro. Randy Hurt and Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Interment is at Blue Mountain City Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Joe M. Hill of Blue Mountain; two daughters, Renea McElhaney (Bo) of Mantachie and Karen Shelton (Lanny) of Walnut; brother, John R. Crutcher of Cordova, Tenn.; sister, Grace Curry of Florence; seven grandchildren, Joey Wilson of Hickory Flat, Kaitlyn Wilson of Hickory Flat, Ethan Moffitt of Georgia, Jeremy Shelton (Tammy) of Indiana, Stephanie Harris of Tupelo, Andrea Criddle of Pontotoc and Eric McElhaney (Julie) of Pontotoc; eight great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Lou Ann Price of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Betty Thorn.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Pipkin, Darrell Hall, Danny Wooley, Willie Johnston, Lanny Shelton and Marty Stephens. Honorary pallbearers are Lawrence Lowery, Jerry Robbins and David “Huckleberry” Williams.

William Parker
CALHOUN CITY – William Pearson Parker, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1942, in Calhoun County. He was retired from furniture sales.
Service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Buddy Gordon officiating.
He is survived by two sons, Michael (Risa) Parker of Dallas Texas, and Will (Sheila) Parker of Missouri; five sisters, Shirley (Ralph) Miller of Scott City, Mo., Linda (Cecil) Williams of Houlka, Nancy Patton of Bruce, Kathy (Robert) Simpson of Calhoun City and Patsy Parker of Tupelo; two brothers, J.T. (Mary) Parker of Batesville and Jimmy Parker of Pittsboro; five grandchildren, Wesley Parker, Luke Parker, Nick Parker, Isaac Parker and Gabriel Parker.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Buren Ervin Parker and Winnie Verlon Murphree Parker.

BOONEVILLE – James Duluth “J.D.” “Chunky” Phifer, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at his home.

Mary Glenn
FULTON – Mary Elizabeth Glenn, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Brighton, Tenn., to James Fred and Katherine McCormick Blanchard. She graduated from Brighton High School and attended the Memphis School of Commerce. She was a long-time employee and retired in 1978 from Deposit Guaranty Bank. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was a member of the choir. She was very active in civic and community affairs and was a member of the Magnolia Garden Club, the Auburn Homemaker’s Club and the Altrusa Club.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her son, Dale Glenn (Elizabeth); six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parent; her husband, Daniel E. Glenn Sr.; a son, Daniel E. Glenn Jr.; and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be Jim Larke, Jimmy Blanchard, Malcolm Glenn, Dick Rogers, Ken Carson and Lynn Turner.

Harold Price
TUPELO – Harold Price, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Avonlea Assisted Living Community after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 26, 1928, in McComb to Clyde and Martha Brent Price. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in the Pricedale community. He was a graduate of Southwest Jr. College and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He married Betty Felder in October 1950 and was a faithful member and deacon of Harrisburg Baptist Church for 43 years. He enjoyed being an active member of Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club for 43 years. He was a service agent for Mississippi Farm Bureau Insurance for 30 years. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Tupelo Public Schools and delivered flowers for West Heights Flowers where he was a co-owner with his daughter. He will be missed by a loving family, church and community.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Dr. Forrest Sheffield and the Rev. David Smith officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, in the Pricedale community in Pike County. Holland Funeral Directors is entrusted with services.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Price of Tupelo; four children, David Price (Ava) of Richton, Steve Price (Frances) of Madison, Nancy Bowen (Clay) of Tupelo and Arnold Price (Amy) of Tupelo; 14 grandchildren, Mysti Snowdy (John), Michael Price, Sara Curro (Joseph), Nancy Griffith, Nathan Price, Clint (Amanda) Price, Claire Whittington (Jay), James Strickland, Megan Bowen, Ryan Bowen, Alicia Bowen, Ben Price, Shelby Price and Hanna Price; 13 great-grandchldren; and one niece, Wanda Dunaway (Mike).
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Doyle Price; and one niece, Celeste Price.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Harrisburg Sunday School Class, Wayne Bullard, Billy Hayes and Harold Pope.

Walter Smith
BALDWYN – Walter Eugene Smith, 73, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a retired construction worker, chainsaw operator and a Baptist.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marvin Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Meadow Creek Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Helen Flake Smith of Baldwyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Verdie Walden Smith; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Lee Hollimon
GOLDEN – Frank Lee Hollimon, 55, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at his residence in Itawamba Co. He was born Feb. 18, 1957, in Chickasaw County to Dillard Hollimon and Elaine Bunch Hollimon. He lived in the Red Bay/Golden area for over 35 years and was a graduate of Nursing School at ICC. He worked as an RN in various health care facilities over the years and his last employment was as nursing supervisor at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital before becoming disabled. He was a Baptist and his hobbies included reading, computers, raising flowers, especially orchids, and good conversation.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Eric Boykin officiating. Private burial will follow in the Hollimon Family Plot at Oddfellows Cemetery.
Survivors include his best friend of over 30 years, Owen Burns of Golden; his aunts, Johnnie Hollimon of Okolona and Mary Perry of Cordova, Tenn.; his sister-in-law, Marti Hollimon of Tupelo; his nieces and nephews, Kara Hopson (Brett), Luke Hollimon (Kacie), Kala Stafford (Darren) and Hayden Eisenzimmer (Aaron); several great-nieces and nephews; and his remaining Bunch family relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Elaine; and his brother, Charlie Hollimon.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to service only.

Gussie Spicer
SOMERVILLE, Tenn. – Gussie Joyner Spicer, 96, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a Baptist and a life long resident of Fayett County, Tenn.
Services were held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somervile with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center of Somerville is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Daniel C. Spicer of Mooreville; and brother, Hillard N. Joyner of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doss Spicer.
