Harold Owens
WALNUT – Harold Curtis Owens, 69, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his residence in Walnut. He was born April 7, 1943, to A.W. Burton Owens and Aaron Florine Stovall Owens Edwards. He was a Baptist and a United States Marine Corps veteran. He was a retired truck driver with 37 years service and a Mason for 39 years. He loved to garden, fish and spend time with family and friends. He loved to spend time with friends at the local auctions and hang out at Double Barrel Cafe.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Christ Temple Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Owens of Walnut; one daughter, Tina Owens Fields-Martin (Wade) of Burton; one son, Monty Owens (Malena) of Walnut; three grandsons, Christopher Fields and Cole Martin, both of Burton, and Joseph Fields (Stephanie) of New Site; one granddaughter, Sarah Jean Owens of Walnut; two sisters, Bonnie West of Vicksburg and Linda Skaburg of Texas; two brothers, Bobby Owens (Brenda) of Vicksburg and Robert Cross of Wesson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patsy Day.
Pallbearers will be Terry West, Todd Hoben, Roy Simon, Roger Johnson, Arthur Cockrell, Trent Eaton, Curtis West and Chat Gattis. Honorary pallbearer will be Buster Montgomery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel.

Sible Burch
FULTON – Sible Burch, 89, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. She was born Oct. 17, 1923, to Lucian C. and Verba Lee Stevens Hamilton. A lifelong resident of Fulton, she worked at Itawamba Manufacturing for 20-plus years. She was the oldest member of New Home Baptist Church. She was very active in the church as a Sunday School teacher and a WMU member.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Senter Funeral Home in Fulton with Bro. Mike Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a daughter, Becky Wilson (Lanny) of Tupelo; a son, Ronald Burch (Vicki) of Saltillo; grandson, Gorden Wilson of Tupelo; granddaughters, Ashlee Myrick (Bryan) of Alabaster, Ala., and Carrie Burch of Oxford; great-granddaughters, Brylee Myrick and Sophee Myrick of Alabaster, Ala.; nephews, Tommy Guntharp and Bobby Beard, both of Fulton, George Burch of Mantachie and Webby Burch of Franklin, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer A. Burch, in 1988 and her parents.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at Senter Funeral Home.

Daniel Foreman
NEW ALBANY – Daniel Haywood Foreman, 84, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Tippah County Health Services in Ripley. He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Union County to John Foreman and Mary Bailey Foreman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughter, Rose Watson; two brothers, Albert “Bud” Foreman and Gilbert Foreman; three grandchildren, Landi Bailey, Kristin Edwards and Kate Lynn Watson; a stepgrandchild, Harley Watson; and a great-grandchild, Harper Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gene Foreman.

MAYHEW – Peggy J. Stafford, 54, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at her home in the Mayhew community near Starkville.

Charles Lockhart
RIPLEY – Charles Edwin Lockhart, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1929, to Thomas Oscar and Claudia Moffitt Lockhart in Tippah County. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the Mississippi State Highway Patrol, where he was a patrolman for 22 years. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church, and he attended First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Dr. Rex Yancey and Dr. Albert Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Westminister Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Dixon Lockhart of Ripley; three daughters, Rebecca Smith (Jimmy) of Alpine, Regina Childs (Kenneth) of Ripley and Tammy Lockhart (Donnie) of Guntown; seven grandchildren, Kenny Childs (Sabrina), Andy Childs (Jessica), Joey Childs (Brandie), Brandon Vuncannon (Misha), Christy Hancock (Bubba), Tiffany Seawright (Justin) and Brittany Frost (Brandon); and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his daughters, Peggy Childs Lockhart; his second wife, Ruby Stanford Lockhart; two brothers, Jim and Tom Lockhart; three sisters, Jewel Givens Trancyngier, Louise Rowell DeRonsse and Eugenia Underhill.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kenny Childs, Andy Childs, Joey Childs, Brandon Vuncannon, Bubba Hancock, Justin Seawright and Brandon Frost.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephew, Sonny Lockhart; members of the Mississippi State Highway Patrol; and other law enforcement officers.
Visitation will continue from 7 a.m. to service time today at the funeral home.

Gerald Rollins
SMITHVILLE – Gerald Daniel Rollins, 74, died on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus. Born July 19, 1938, in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of the late Carl Daniel and Mary Foshee Rollins. He married Shirley Jean Thompson in 1963; she died in 1999. He was a graduate of Birmingham schools. Before his retirement, he was a station engineer for Mississippi ETV. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a ham radio enthusiast and operated station W5KJQ.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Maxey Cemetery in Smithville with Bro. James Austin officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Wayla Hunter of Aberdeen; one son, Brian D. Rollins (April) of Smithville; six grandchildren, Melanie Bennett, Kaitlin Armstrong, Courtney Mills, Ashley Raper, Seth Rollins and Summer Rollins; and great-grandchildren, Braylon, Wesley, Aliyah, Landon, Rayleigh and Haley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Billy Hill
HAMILTON – Billy E. Hill, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Born July 31, 1935, in Nettleton, he was a son of the late William and Anna Belle Richardson Hill. He married Patricia Grubbs Hill in 1961. He grew up and attended school in Nettleton. He was a member of Cornerstone Family Fellowship in Amory. He worked as an independent insurance salesman. A man trusting in God’s Word, his faith was evident up to the final hours of his life. A family man, some of his greatest joys and memories were of times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren whom he enjoyed cooking for. A man with a great sense of humor, he enjoyed listening to Southern gospel music, telling stories, and fishing and hunting with his sons, often taking trips to Colorado for elk hunting.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Patricia Hill; daughters, Carol Barnett (Ricky), Amory, Leticia Chism (David), Hamilton, Lorie Riddle (Neil), Caledonia; sons, Donny Hill (Beverly), Nettleton, Shawn Hill (Dana), Amory; sisters, Sheila Hill, Belden, and Teresa Hill, Amory; brother, William Hill Jr., Memphis; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Humbers, and a son, Terry Joe Hill.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Cornerstone Family Fellowship in Amory with Bro. Malcom Tidwell, Bro. Greg Huguley and Bro. Charles Petty officiating. Burial will follow in New Prospect Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Hill, James Cook, Homer Cook, Johnny Cook, David Tidwell and John Ward.

Gladys Barton
BLUE SPRINGS – Gladys Barton, 91, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. She attended church at Bethel Methodist Church. She was retired from Deville Furniture Manufacturing Co. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, flower gardening and attending the Ecru Good Timers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with the Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Alton Barton (Charlotte) of Blue Springs; two sisters, Dot Hardin (Claude) of Pontotoc and Opal Roberts (Harvey) of Winter Haven, Fla.; four grandchildren, Penny Barton, Scott Barton, Chris Barton and Eric Barton; and four great-grandchildren, Aron Barton, Carye Barton, Ethan Earnest and Bradley Barton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Mattie Lou Hardin Russell, and her husband, Erskine Barton.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Will Seawright
OXFORD – William “Will” Seawright, 33, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He attended church at First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc and St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo. He was a graduate of Pontotoc High School Class of 1997 and received his BBA degree in marketing from the University of Mississippi. At Ole Miss he was a member and rush chairman of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was a pharmaceutical sales representative, and a member of the American Marketing Association, the University of Mississippi Alumni Association and the United States Tennis Association. He was an avid tennis player, and Ole Miss Rebels and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending time with his dogs, Tallulah and Mason.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc with the Rev. Kenneth Corley, Father Tim Murphy and the Rev. Roger Shock officiating. Burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, William J. “Bill” Seawright and Millicent Shannon Seawright of Pontotoc; his sister, Molly Seawright Lovorn (Barrett) of Tupelo; a niece, Mary Kiley Lovorn; his grandmother, Virginia Shannon of Pontotoc; his aunt, Sally Shannon Gillentine (Ken) of Tupelo; and cousins, Clayton Gillentine and John Shannon Gillentine.; a great-aunt, Julia Yandell of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.R. Shannon and Deloris Harris McDonald.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Ridgeway, Ira Gaddy, Chris Carl, Will Marsalis, Evan Ray, John Reagan Tatum, Sheafford Davidson and Will Hammock. Honorary pallbearers will be William Stewart, Justin Brantley, Jason Cruse, Carter Wilkes, Fant Walker, Chip Benjamin, Will Jones, Carver Rayburn, Matt McCoy, Michael Simon, Preston Leathers and Corey Armstrong.
Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to service time Thursday.

Leon L. Herring
PALMETTO – Leon L. Herring, 90, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at his residence in the Palmetto community. He was born in Lee County on July 19, 1922, to Ralph A. and Ada Bell Christian Herring. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church and a farmer. He enjoyed working with his hands. He loved woodworking, carving and make knives. He was a beloved father and husband, and his grandchildren considered him the best papaw in the whole wide world.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield and the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Joyce Stovall Herring of the Palmetto community; three daughters, Terry Grass (Keith) and Carol Witt of the Palmetto community, and Sheryl Mask (Junior) of the Old Union community; eight grandchildren, Fred and Kevin Grass, Joanna Williams (Bruce), Jennifer Lovern (Gary), Jessica Cochran (Lindsey), Melanie Wilson (Herschel), Cindy DeVaughn (Tim) and Amanda Simmons (Scott); one sister, Maude Cates; 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and a son-in-law, Dwane Witt.
Pallbearers will be Fred and Kevin Grass, Herschel Wilson, Bruce Williams, Scott Simmons, Gary Lovern, Lindsey Cochran and Tim DeVaughn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Simmons, Austin Wilson, Joe Williams, Caleb Lovern, Christian Grass, Ross Cochran, and Todd and Ben Simmons.

BOONEVILLE – Gary Freeman Stokes Sr., 55, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at home. He was born May 11, 1957, to Freeman and Ilene Moore Stokes. He was a paint and body specialist, and a Baptist.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. David Krech officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Stokes; one daughter, Traci Stokes McKinley of Booneville; four sons, Gary F. Stokes of Booneville, Michael Shawn Stokes of Valdosta, Ga., and Justin Shane and Cody Shay Stokes, both of Waycross, Ga.; his mother, Ilene Stokes of Booneville; three sisters, Linda Kay Padgett, Betty Carolyn Pitts and Patricia Ann Miller, all of Booneville; one brother, Ricky Dale Stokes of Pascagoula; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
