PONTOTOC – James Fred Stegall, 88, died July 17, 2010, at Veterans Home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc.

EUPORA – James “Jack” Green, 78, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora.

Donald Null
CORINTH – Donald Ray Null, 64, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at Magnolia Regional Health Center after an extended illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bro. Gerald Cagle
BOONEVILLE – Bro. Gerald Duncan Cagle, 62, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at his home in the Friendship Community. He was born June 1, 1948, in Booneville. He was a graduate of Baldwyn High School where he excelled in band, won the John Phillip Sousa Award and was selected to play in the All State Lions Band. He attended Itawamba Community College where he was in the band. He was also a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in music. He served as band director at Mantachie, Fulton and Baldwyn High Schools. He was called into the ministry in 1991. He served as pastor of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church for fourteen years. Under his leadership and with God’s direction, the church was able to grow and build a new sanctuary.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at East Mt. Zion Baptist Church with his son, Bro. John Cagle and Bro. Bill Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rebecca “Becky” Blassingame Cagle; a son, John Duncan Cagle and his wife, Christy of Blackland; a daughter, Leah Cagle Bishop and her husband, John of Baldwyn; two granddaughters, Savannah Roberts and Ava Claire Bishop; one step-grandson, John Kyle Bishop; his brother-in-law, Joe Blassingame and his wife, Joan; a special niece, Katy Rose Blassingame of Baldwyn; a nephew and caregiver, Eddie Cagle and his wife, Kathy of Baldwyn; a nephew, Hugh Herring and his wife, Angie of Guntown; two nieces, Cynthia Houston Greenhaw and her husband, Steve of Amory and Nancy Houston Bonds and her husband, James of Brentwood, Tenn.; two uncles, Jake Duncan of Baldwyn and Roy Duncan of Tupelo; an aunt, Rachel Ryan of Illinois; many cousins; and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Maggie Duncan Cagle; two sisters, Aletha Houston and Mauveline Herring; four brothers, Dayton, Richard, Clyde and Melton Cagle; and an infant sister, Gladys Cagle.
Pallbearers are Jerry McBride, Joe Roberts, Tim Johnson, Buck Edge, David Hendrix, Jon Ben Griffin, Bimbo Griffin and Terry Dale Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers are Earl Stone, Jimmy Ray Martin, Gerald Hardy and Keylon Gholston.

Charlotte Hellums
RED BAY – Charlotte Hellums, 59, died Saturday, July 16, 2010, in Colbert County, Ala. She was born July 27, 1950, in Alabama to Donald Eugene “Buster” and Helen Nelson McDowell. She was in education and counseling for 36 years and was most recently a guidance counselor at Red Bay High School since 1995. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Bay.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Red Bay with the Rev. Buster Timmons and Gordon Blair officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace William “Wally” Hellums of Red Bay; three daughters, Elizabeth Hellums Blair (Gordon) of Birmingham, Samantha Hellums Moody (Kale) of Starkville and Catherine Hellums Brown (Blake) of Athens, Ala.; two sons, Mac Wallace Hellums (Lori) of Tuscumbia and Patrick William Hellums of Red Bay; four grandchildren, Will Moody and Molly Moody, both of Starkville, John Edward “Jeb” Blair of Birmingham and Elizabeth Grace Hellums of Tuscumbia; and her mother, Helen McDowell of Red Bay.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Pallbearers will be Kale Moody, Blake Brown, Gordon Blair, Brian Bolton, Donnie Roberts, Kenny Sparks, David Markum and Jeff Barksdale.

RIPLEY – Nellie Mae Kirk Capansky, 93, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. She was born Oct. 12, 1916, to John R. and Pearl Waters Martin in East Point, Ga. She retired after 30 years of service with Minute Maid/Coke Company, working in the Research and Development Department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ripley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Ripley with Dr. Rex Yancey and the Rev. William J. “Bill” Connolly officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Charles E. Kirk Jr. and wife, Joy, of Ripley; one stepson, Mark Alan Capansky and wife, Polly, of Woodstock, Va.; one daughter, Jane K. Driver of Wildwood, Fla.; two sisters, Vivian M. Steiner of Plymouth, Fla. and Dorothy M. VanZant of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles E. Kirk Sr.; her second husband, Robert T. “Cap” Capansky; one sister, Daisy M. Lowe; and two grandchildren.

Sarah Tackett
RIPLEY – Sarah Frances Tackett, 92, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville, Ill. She was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Rosboro, Ark. the daughter of Rufus Lee and Elva Esther Tissue Rowan. She married Jasper Jefferson Tackett, and he preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed collecting butterflies, reading and doing word puzzles.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Stacy McKee officiating. Burial will be in Blue Mountain Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by three grandsons, Mike Werries (Lesa), Kevin Werries and Gary Werries (Tami), all of Jacksonville, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Werries, Alexander Werries, Bradley Werries, Andrew Werries, Brad Harris and Katie Linder; and two great-great grandchildren, Adrianna Werries and A.J. Werries.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jeffery Tackett; one daughter, Judith Ann Allen; and several brothers and sisters.

Robert Owens
CORINTH – Robert Jermaine Owens, 29, died July 14, 2010, at North Hill Hospital. He was born Jan. 4, 1981. He graduated from Corinth High School in 2000 and attended Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Herby Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, the Rev. James Houston Owens and Audrey Lynn Washington; his grandmother, Hazel Washington; and siblings, Chelsa Nicole Owens, Stephany M. Owens and Brian Washington.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. Robert Lee Owens and Sarah Lee Owens and the Rev. Bennie Washington.

Cindy Hannaford
SOUTHAVEN – Cindy Hannaford, 50, dental hygienist for Tommy Cox, DMD, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in Southaven. She was born Aug. 20, 1959, in Biloxi and was a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association. She was also a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Olive Branch where she was active in the Mercy Ministry and the Assimilation Team.
Services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Christ Presbyterian Church. Burial was in DeSoto Memorial Gardens in Southaven. Twin Oaks Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Kim Hannaford of Southaven; two daughters, Morgan Elaine Hart and her husband, Jordan of Cordova and Leigh Anne Hollemon and her husband, Drew of Southaven; her parents, Bruce and Nan Strohminger of Southaven; one brother, Gary Strohminger and his wife, Laura of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandchild, Hannah Hollemon; and her father-in-law, Bill Hannaford and his wife, Jeannette of Duck Hill.

Jewell Puckett
TISHOMINGO – Jewell Puckett, 83, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka. She was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Tishomingo to Daniel Joyner and Cora Jane Pace Reynolds. She was a factory worker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Credille, Bro. William Burcham and Bro. John Bray officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Tishomingo. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Helton Puckett (Martha) of Iuka; one daughter, Francis Posey of Red Bay; one sister, Eunice Reynolds of Iuka; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 20 step great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Puckett; her parents; one brother,William Reynolds; one sister, Ruby Hendrix; two half-brothers, Dolton Reynolds and Thomas Reynolds; two half-sisters, Mary Jane Borden and Mittie Butler; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Posey.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Puckett, Chris Puckett, Jamie Stafford, Jeff Gentles, Junior Cornelius and Wayne Lambert.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the church.

Clyde Dunaway
SALTILLO – Clyde F. Dunaway, 82, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. A Saltillo native, he was born July 8, 1928, to Earnest and Icie Yielding Dunaway. For 15 years, he worked at Mid South Packers as a sausage maker. He was also a former roofer. Some of the things he loved to do was gardening, fishing and having long sit down talks with his friends. He loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God, which he loved.
Services will be at 11 a.m.Monday at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Roy Loftin , the Rev. Merle Floyd and the Rev. Larry Dunaway officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery. Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sisters, Annie Sanders of Saltillo, Birtie Gooch of Booneville and Opal Gammill of Saltillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Josh Dunaway, John Gooch, Craig Wilson, Matt Dunaway, Dale Robinson, Lee Dunaway and Jeff Dunaway.

HOUSTON – Earlene Doss Griffin, 89, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born March 10, 1921, in Chickasaw County to Franks Doss and Hattie Gann Doss. She was retired from Houston Elementary School. She was a member of Macedonia Methodist Church.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Bro. Steve Lampkin officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorene Meadows (Sonny) of Atlanta; two grandsons, Jay Griffin (Stephanie) and Mike Sappington (Connie), all of Houston; one granddaughter, Macie Sappington of Houston; three nieces, Sheryl Hatley Owings (Ronnie), Frankie Earnest and Jo Farr, all of Houston; and one nephew, Earl Griggs of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollin Edward “Bunk” Griffin; one son, James “Butch” Griffin; and two sisters, Raye Hatley and Maylene “Bob” Griggs.

Louise Jackson
BOONEVILLE – Martha Louise Brown Jackson, 79, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at her home. She was born May 26, 1931, in Prentiss County. She was a homemaker, and she was a member of Mt. Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing and playing with her children and grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glen Jones and Bro. David Heg officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Larry Jackson (Beth) of Booneville; three daughters, Debra Heg (David) of Booneville, Gail Knight (Earnest) of Amory and Georgia Mays of Corinth; two sisters, Ruth Evetts (Cecil) of Russellville, Ala. and Genell Myers (Jerry) of Booneville; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jackson on March 30, 2005; two sons, James Jackson and Dale Jackson; an infant son; an infant daughter; and a brother, Walter Brown.

Overa Waldon
WALNUT – Overa Hodum Waldon, 84, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at Magnolia Regional Heath Center in Corinth. She was born May 26, 1926, to Earnest Hodum and Minnie Mathis Hodum. She was a member of Shiloh Independent Methodist Church and a housewife.
Services will be at 1p.m. Monday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by five sons, Lee Boyd Waldon (Linda), Jimmy Waldon (Faye), Dennis Waldon, Danny Waldon and Randy Waldon (Connie), all of Walnut; two sisters, Olene Meeks of Ripley and Mary Hodum of Tiplersville; 13 grandchildren, Jerry Waldon, Regina Gunn (Jeff), Stony Waldon, Tony Waldon, Marcus Waldon (Arlene), Marshall Waldon (Jackie), Amy Wilson, Ayla Waldon, Dustin Waldon, all of Walnut, Katherine Waldon and Eric Waldon (Bethany), both of Ripley, Jessie Mills (Brandon) of Tiplersville and Elise Fyke (Harry) of Oxford; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Waldon; one son, James Harold Waldon; her parents; and three brothers, Joe Lee Hodum, Virgil Hodum and J. W. Hodum.

Sonny Clark
RIPLEY – Sonny James Clark, 54, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at his home in Ripley. He was born Sept. 20, 1955, to Bobby Jean Pannell Clark and James O. Clark Sr. He worked for Mike Roberts for twenty-five years as a carpenter before becoming disabled. He loved his motor-cycle and playing his guitar.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Vuncannon officiating. Burial will be in Jacobs Chapel Church Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Clark of Ripley; his mother, Bobby Jean Clark of Ripley; two daughters, Suzanne Wright (Chris) and Tabitha Clark (Tim), both of Ripley; two sons, Kevin Clark (Denise) of Falkner and Jason Clark (Liz) of Ripley; one stepson, Eugene Dean of Ripley; 12 grandchildren, Chelea Wright, Kaysea Wright, Austin Clark, Taryn Clark, JJ Clark and Josh Clark, all of Ripley, Brianna Clark and Lacy Clark, both of Falkner, James Dean, Abby Dean, Hailey Dean and Caitlin Dean, all of Blue Mountain.
He was preceded in death by his father; his brothers, James O. Clark Jr. and Orvial Daniel Clark; and one sister, Missy Clark.

PONTOTOC – Jerry Lynn Douell Sr., 63, died July 16, 2010, at his home. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in Thailand. He came to know the Lord later in life. He loved his wife.

Nadine Gillespie
PONTOTOC – Nadine P. Gillespie, 91, died July 17, 2010, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc. She was born July 17, 1918 to Grover and Cara James Patton. She married Laron L. Gillespie in November of 1945. She was a retired beautician of 40 years, and she also worked with the family’s pest control company.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pontotoc. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister to her family, who will miss her very much.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with the Rev. Kenneth Corley and the Rev. Roger Shock officiating. Burial will be in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Angie Gillespie Moorman and her husband, Frankie; Mike Terry and his wife, Misty of Pontotoc, Matt Gillespie and his wife, Rhonda of Dumas, Melissa Terry of Germantown and Steve Luke Gillespie of Las Vegas; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and Garrett Moorman and Lauren and Taylor Terry; her sister, Dorothy P. Wallace of Pontotoc; a son-in-law, Bobby J. Terry of Germantown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Laron L. Gillespie; her daughter, Judy C. Terry; her son, Steven Laron Gillespie; her parents; her brother, Fulton Patton; and her sister, Lorette Jernigan.

COTTON PLANT – Klue Ilene Medlin, 81, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the Northeast Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Dec. 2, 1928, at her home in Cotton Plant.

Medlin (Vickey) of Starkville, Terry Medlin (Sharon) of New Albany and Dr. Greg Medlin of Rochester Hills, Mich.; five grandchildren, Ron Medlin of Atlanta, Emily Medlin Roberts of New Albany, Tyne Gann of Starkville and Matthew and Cassidy Medlin of Rochester Hills, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Colton Roberts of New Albany; and one sister, Ann Hickey of New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude W. and Sallye Barkley; one son, Larry Medlin; one grandaughter, Dixie Medlin; three sisters, Cleo Penebaker, Juanita Hill and Maxine Lancaster; and one brother, Jimmy Barkley.
Pallbearers will be her nephews
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.

BARTLETT, Tenn. – Emma Elizabeth Holloway Stanford, 88, formerly of Saltillo, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at her residence in Bartlett after an extended illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors.
