James Gary
EUPORA – James T. Gary, 88, died Friday, July 23, 2010, in Texarkana, Texas at the Cornerstone Methodist Retirement Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Eupora. Burial will be in Eupora City Cemetery. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

TUPELO – Maxine Harris, 85, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors.

BOONEVILLE – Louise Moore, 90, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McMillan Funeral Home.
Clifford Parish
AMORY – Clifford Allen Parish, 65, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born on July 24, 2010, in Bigbee, he was a son of Elisha B. Parish and Rose Stanford Parish McKinney. He was a charter member and Trustee of Providence Baptist Church. Following 30 years of service, he retired from True Temper Sports. Prior to this, he had worked at Walker Manufacturing. He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard in Amory. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. James Wilson, Bro. James Gillentine and Bro. Johnny Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy Parish of Amory; daughters, Shawnda (William) Cooke of New Mexico, Pam (Jerry) Holcombe and Christy Bennett, both of Hamilton; son, Clint Parish of Amory; sister, Verna Mae Carroll of Amory; and seven grandchildren, Zachary, Garrett and Kathryn Cooke, Trentt Taylor and Kayla, Brenaé and Jayden Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Beverly and Leroy Parish.
Pallbearers will be Roger Carrol, Mike Carrol, Garry Carrol, Mike Loden, Norman Parish and Tony Parish.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Providence Baptist Church.

Betty Smith
ETTA – Betty Claire Starkey Smith, 78, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at her home. She was born April 13, 1932, in Myrtle to Chester Starkey and Ollie Renfrow Starkey. She was retired from Denton Mills where she had been the personnel manager for 35 years. She was a volunteer for Save-a-Life and a member of the Philadelphia Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church where she served in the WMU.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Irvin officiating. Burial will be in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Michael David Smith of Etta; a sister, Corrine Clayton of Pocahontas, Ark.; four brothers, Kyle Starkey (Ann) of Alexandrea, Ky., Gene Gullick (Lottie) of New Albany, Sam Gullick (Judy) of Myrtle and Jimmy Gullick (Deborah) of Blue Mountain; a brother-in-law, Frank Garner of Tupelo; and three grandchildren, James William “Bill” Smith III, Sela Elizabeth Smith and Nicholas Adam Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James William Smith Sr.; a son, James William Smith Jr.; a sister, Edna Garner; and a brother, Quay Gullick.
Pallbearers will be Danny Gullick, Billy Gullick, Marty Coffey, Chris Dye, Joey Gullick, Shawn Vanzant and Jeff Clayton
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Dwight Davis
FULTON – Eaden Dwight Davis, 66, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1943, to Elby and Ethel Langley Davis. He worked in construction for many years. He helped coach little league baseball and football for several years and was an avid Mississippi State sports fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Davis, of Fulton; three sons, William “Bill” Charles Davis of Pontotoc, Brent Eaden Davis (Cindy) of Mooreville and Brian Heath Davis of Centralia, Wash.; one daughter, Rhonda Suzanne Cowan (Terry) of Dorsey; one brother, Oma Davis (Martha) of Fulton; one sister, Noma DuBoise (Tom) of Fulton; and five grandchildren, Alex Holley, Will Davis II, Samantha Davis, Beth Davis and Ryan Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Ploma, Roman and Edward Davis.
Pallbearers will be Gary Adkins, Hollis Thomas, Alex Holley, Chaney Kennedy, Scott Davis and Gunner Ragsdale.
Honorary pallbearers will be Will Davis II and Ryan Davis.

Lawrence Raper
TUPELO – Roy “Lawrence” Raper, 94, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1915, in the Unity Community, East of Saltillo, to Dexter and Fannie Horton Raper. He was a longtime resident of Lee County, living in the Mt. Vernon Community and in Tupelo. He retired from Blue Bell after 20 years of employment. Afterwards, he went to work at Pennsylvania Tire before retiring at the age of 63. He returned to work for Lift Inc. and the All American Hotel before his final retirement. He was a Baptist and enjoyed going to church, faithfully attending East Heights Baptist Church until his health failed him. An outdoors person, he loved gardening and making wood products.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Tim Roaten officiating. A private committal will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Belden. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Montez Raper of Tupelo; one daughter, Nancy Sparks (Jimmy); two sons, Edward Raper (Sue) and Danny Raper (Dixie); two stepdaughters, Barbara Duerson (Calvin) and Debra Webb (Tim); one sister, Bessie Brown; two brothers, Elkin Raper (Idell) and Ottis Raper (Margaret); nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bernice Richey and Blanche Green; one brother, Leonard Raper; and his first wife, Pauline Clayon Raper.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Sparks, Philip Raper, Terry Merrell, Tim Webb, Mark Burt and Bradley Webb.

Jon Wallace
DUMAS – Jonathan “Jon” Wade Wallace, 21, died July 24, 2010, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was an employee of Albany Industries in New Albany. He was a member of the Wesley Congregational Methodist Church. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his son, Jon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. Jim Hancock officiating and Dr. Patrick Chapman assisting. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Cortney Lynn Murry Wallace of Dumas; his son, Jon Ryder Wallace of Dumas; his father, Charles Wade Wallace of Dumas; his mother, Christi Chapman Tatum of Falkner; five sisters, Ashley Wallis (Bruce) of Dry Creek, Kassi Tatum of Ripley, Anna Chapman, Catherine Ann McCoy and Cede Tatum, all of Falkner; his grandparents, Charles and Nellie Wallace of Dumas and Brenda Chapman Downs (Sammy) of Ripley; and his great-grandmothers, Lois Wallace of Dumas and Christine Chapman of Ripley.
He is also survived by one special aunt, Brenda Wallace of Dumas; three uncles, Rodney, Patrick and Jason Chapman, all of Ripley; two nieces, Kyler and Kacyn Curry of Tupelo; two nephews, Whit Wallis of Dry Creek and Kobi Curry of Tupelo; his father-in-law, Marty Murry of Ripley; his mother-in-law, Jenny Murry of Saltillo; one brother-in-law, Justin Curry of Tupelo; and one sister-in-law, Erica Cottongin of Saltillo.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, C.H. Chapman; and his great-grandfathers, Euclid Wallace and Meg Chapman.

Middleton Ray
FULTON – Middleton “Shack” Ray, 78, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1932, in Detroit, Ala. to George and Vernie Johnson Ray. He worked for American Motors and F.L. Crane before working several years at Day-Brite where he retired. He was a member of the Tilden Church of Christ. He enjoyed farming and gardening.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Minister David Paden officiating. Burial will be in the Tilden Community Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Randy M. Ray; one daughter, Becky Dulaney (Donnie); two granddaughters, Lydia Dulaney and Laine Dulaney; and one great-grandson, Colton Lewis, all of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Loise Jean Ray, who died April 15, 2010; two granddaughters, Laticia Dulaney and Maranda Ray Little; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Ray; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Dennis “Pab” Lewis, Tanner Lewis, H.A. Spencer, Ray Tutor, Joe Underwood and Mike Wiygul.
