RIPLEY – Sandra Emily Coon Patzius, 73, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at her home in Ripley. She was born Feb. 10, 1940, to Edwin and Edna Worth Rimmel. She was a member of the Methodist church and retired from Tippah County Tax Assessors office.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today, June 15, at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Moore and Bro. Jason Harms officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Patzius Jr. of Ripley; one daughter, Carrie Patzius of Ripley; two sons, Michael Patzius (Michelle) of Vista, Calif., and Craig Patzius (Jennifer) of Ripley; six grandchildren, Ian Patzius, Sierra Patzius, Ryan Richardson, Erika Richardson, Darby Patzius and Garrett Patzius.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Frank Coon.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home.

BURNSVILLE – Dortha “Dot” Anderson, 77, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home in Iuka.

BOONEVILLE – Corinne Mitchell, 87, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Landmark Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born Jan. 10, 1926, to Sam and Evie DeLozier. She was a homemaker, a member of East Booneville Baptist Church and involved in the Home Extension Club.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 15, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Hancock officiating. Burial will be at Booneville Cemetery.
Survivors are two daughters, Clara (Earl) Owens of Booneville and Lee (Dale) Robertson of Columbus; three sons, George (Tracy) Mitchell of Meridian, Sam (Janice) Mitchell of Guntown and Archie (Martha) Mitchell of Jumpertown; one sister, Lucille Inmon; nine grandchildren, Tori Mitchell (Jeff) Horne, Marc Mitchell, Drew Mitchell, Alyson (Steven) Dickerson, Amy Owens, Misty Mitchell, Lacie Mitchell, Cody Robertson and Casey Robertson; two great-grandchildren, Grace Horne and Gunner Dickerson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Street Mitchell; her parents; and two brothers, Milton and Melvin DeLozier.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mauzelle Strange
FULTON – Francis Mauzelle McDaniel Strange, 88, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born July 27, 1924, to Frank and Fannie Amber Johnson McDaniel in Itawamba County. She married Charles Strange on Aug. 10, 1945. She was a graduate of I.A.H.S., Class of 1944. She attended ICC and Mississippi State University, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school at Ryan’s Well before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, working with her flowers and sewing. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Southside Baptist Church since 1980, where she had taught the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Bobby Amos and Bro. Bobby Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter, Joette Farrar of Fulton; a grandson, Barry (Teresa) Farrar of Huntsville, Ala.; a granddaughter, Tammy Farrar (Chad) Nolan of New Albany; five great-grandchildren, Lindsay (Jake) Garner of Tremont, Dixie Lynn Stewart of Brewer, Madison Stewart of Fulton, Mitchell Farrar of Huntsville and Taylor Farrar of Huntsville; three great-great grandchildren, Westin Garner of Tremont, Layla Grace Garner of Tremont, Addison Grace Stewart of Fulton; three sisters, Susie (Stanley) Underwood of Fulton, Patricia “Jack” Spencer of Fulton and Lucille Umphers of Fulton; two brothers, James Pete (Kay) McDaniel of Fulton and Charles McDaniel of Fulton; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, and a granddaughter, Melissa Gail Quinn.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Farrar, Taylor Farrar, Chad Nolan, Alfredo Giacomtti, Jake Garner and Shane Loyd.

Richard Buzzard
PONTOTOC – Richard Lee “Buzz” Buzzard, 72, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on Aug. 6, 1940, to George and Mae Honacker Buzzard in St. Albans, W.Va. He was married to Sue Buzzard. He moved to Mississippi in 1981 as a machinist. He loved to draw and make jokes. He served our country in the United States Navy.
He is survived by one daughter, Laurie Young (Perry) of Pontotoc; two sons, Alan Buzzard of Eugene, Ore., and Zachary Buzzard (Gloria) of Saltillo; six grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew and Allison Young, Janis, Kelsey and Carolyn Davidson; two sisters and four brothers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Eloise Adams Buzzard; his father; his daughter, Peri Buzzard; and his son, Richard Buzzard Jr.

Harold Phillips
BELDEN – Harold Phillips, 73, died Thursday, June 13, 2013. A Shannon native, he was born July 18, 1939, to Vernon Washington and Bessie Freeman Phillips. He was a graduate of Shannon High School. After 33 years of service, he retired from Day-Brite Lighting. He, along with his wife, was a resident of Belden since 1995. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in active duty in Germany. A member of the American Legion Post 49, he served as the Master Mason of Tupelo Lodge 318 and was a 32nd degree Mason at the Scottish Rite Valley of Corinth. He loved all animals, especially his three dogs Lucky, Sky and Brown, which he took out for long walks and for rides in his truck. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends at the V.F.W. and drinking coffee with his buddies at Hardees. He was a member of Belden Baptist Church and Billy Yarbrough’s Sunday School class.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Belden Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Holcomb officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors will be in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of many years, Jean Franks Phillips of Belden; two daughters, Jennifer Sharpe (fiancé, Greg Sheffield) of Tupelo and Kathy Deer (Kirby) of Pearl; four grandchildren, Emily McGairty (Brian) of Pearl, Amy and Haley Sharpe of Tupelo, and Corey Shouse of Tupelo; two sisters, Laverne McCarthy of Bartlett, Tenn., and Shirley Tice (David) of Myrtle; two great-grandchildren, Avery Kate and Levi Sharpe; and his nephew and special caregiver, Doug Houston of Saltillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Mac McCarthy.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

BOONEVILLE – Sadie Gardner Strange Popovich, 93, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her home. She was born Jan. 17, 1920, to Grover and Sara Gardner. She enjoyed quilting.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Glover officiating. Burial will be in Hodges Chapel Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Peggy (Guy) Spain, Emily Madaris, Judy Gills and Carolyn Hedstrom; 14 grandchildren, Robin, Bucky, Sonya, Matt, Robin, Kevin, C.J., Valerie, Tommy, Ricky, Raymond, Larry, Shelaine and Veronica; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Popovich; her son, Jerry Strange; her parents; and four grandchildren, Tony, Chris, Mark and René.

IUKA – Doug Wiley, 47, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at his home. He was a member of the Iuka Developmental and Economic Association (IDEA) and was very involved in their Music in the Park program. He was a musician and was currently a member of the Bria Collins Band. He was a sportsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Bro. Gary Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Beckie Wiley of Iuka; his mother, Mary Wiley of Iuka; two stepsons, Devin Newcomb and Chance Newcomb, both of Iuka; one sister, Debbie Lambert (Ricky) of Iuka; one niece, Jessica Moore (Ryan).
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack H. “Jackie” Wiley.

WALNUT – Dorothy A. Besinger, 71, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her home in Walnut. She was born Feb. 2, 1942, to Douglas and Lodie Mills Dooley. She was a member of Jesus Name Community Church and a homemaker. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, going to church and Southern gospel music.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 15, at Jesus Name Community Church with Bro. Gary Porterfield and Bro. Wayne Flake officiating. Burial will be in the Jesus Name Community Church Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick Besinger of Walnut; two daughters, Rhonda Williamson of Pontotoc and Lori Sanford (Kerry) of Walnut; two sons, Randy Gill (Misty) of Pontotoc and Tommy Gill (Nicole) of Houston; one brother, Danny Dooley (Mary) of Ripley; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Theresa Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Margaret Bone and Paulette Fortenberry.

Robert Russell
CORINTH – Robert L. “Bud” Russell, 84, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Born April 23, 1929, in Corinth, he graduated from Alcorn Agricultural High School in 1947. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and served until his honorable discharge in 1974. During his military service, he served his country overseas with one tour of Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. Among his numerous honors, he was awarded a Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit for his service. After his military career, he worked at Magnolia Regional Health Center as director of security until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Corinth.
Services with military honors are set for 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at McPeters Funeral Home. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nell Norman Russell; his children, Judy Crabtree of Destrehan, La., and Joe Russell (Kathy) of Jackson; his sisters, Joanne Foropoulos and Lou Bryan of Memphis; his brother, Donald Russell of Paragould, Ark.; his grandchildren, John Crabtree (Regina) and Ashley Crabtree of Destrehan, La.; and his two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Russell and Willie Kemp Russell; a sister, Grace Wicks; and two brothers, Bill Russell and Jim Russell.

Beverly Hussey
CORINTH – Herbert Beverly Hussey died Friday, June 14, 2013, at his home. He was born April 20, 1931, in Prairie to Fred and Elizabeth Cain Hussey. He was a graduate of Corinth High School and Mississippi State University. He was the former owner of Structure Products and the local R.C. Bottling Co. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past president of the Y and Rotary Club. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow and Rotarian of the Year. During his time as president he started the Magnolia Classic Horse Show. He was an avid MSU fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Prentiss “Bud” Gordon and the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Patricia Mills Hussey of Corinth; a brother, William “Bill” C. Hussey of Corinth; nephews, Benjamin Hussey and Dr. Spencer Lee; nieces, Elizabeth Bush, Sally Hussey and Kate Emmich; great-nephew, Allen Lee; and great niece, Dr. Ginger Lee Sharpe
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Plummer and Ben Hussey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Duane Gunn, James Moffitt, David Palmer, Ralph Hurley, Gerald McLemore, Bob Krohn, Jerry Garner, Arthur C. Dalton, Glenn McCullough and Marvin Brose.

Gayle Estes
NETTLETON – Sandra Gayle Estes, 66, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 28, 1946, in the Palmetto Community to Clifton E. and Aileen Butler Holcomb. A lifelong resident of Lee County, she worked many years for Tecumseh Products as a technician. A master housewife, she married Paul W. Estes on Jan. 21, 1972. She enjoyed reading, especially John Grisham novels, gardening, flowers and being outdoors. She adored her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a longtime member of the Limestone Baptist Church
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, in the Nettleton Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Wayne Brown and Bro. Tommy Ray Dabbs officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to service time Sunday, all at the Nettleton Chapel. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Paul W. Estes of Nettleton; one daughter, Niki Caldwell (Brent) of Central Grove; one brother, Donnie Ward (Rochelle) of Tallahatchie, Fla.; one sister, Judy Johnston (Gary) of Richmond Community; four grandchildren, Noah and Steven Estes, and Mason and Zack Caldwell; several aunts uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Steven “Greg” Estes, who died April 13, 2011; her parents; and her grandparents who raised her, Jot and Sadie White.

OKOLONA – Florence Emma Fischer Attaway, 72, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at her residence in Okolona following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 19, 1940, in New Orleans to Robert Fischer and Josephine Bowese Fischer. She worked as a hairdresser for many years in Louisiana before moving to North Mississippi in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 6 p.m. today, June 15, in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Father Tim Murphy officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to service time today. Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include her children, John Jacob Attaway Jr., Chris Attaway and Sheila Attaway, all of Okolona, Deborah Stark (James) of West Virginia, Tina Boudwin (Scott) of Louisiana and Terri Gardner of Virginia; one brother, Daniel Schlumbrick of California; one sister, Linda Calico of Louisiana; a host of grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law.

BLUE MOUNTAIN – Natha Naomi Street Carter, 84, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born Nov. 7, 1928, to Nathan and Annie Street in Ripley. She was a homemaker and a retired teacher for the Benton County School System. She earned a B.S. degree from Blue Mountain College, and a master’s degree and a specialist degree from the University of Mississippi. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley. Dr. Rex Yancey and Minister King McCarver will officiate. Burial will be in Weirs Chapel Cemetery at Ripley. McBride Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
