Beatrice Bratton
OXFORD – Beatrice Nabors Bratton, 90, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at Hermitage Gardens in Oxford.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Oxford-University United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to service time Friday at the church.

TUPELO – Danny L. Roberts, 56, died suddenly Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at his home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary Lynn Hodges
TOCCOPOLA – Mary Lynn Hodges, 86, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her residence. She was a member of the Antioch Free Will Baptist Church and a store owner and clerk for over 50 years in Toccopola.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Jerry Hooper and Rev. Mike Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Becky Austin and Rena Chrestman (Leroy) of Toccopola, and Gena Hamlett (Anthony) of Pontotoc; one son, Steve Hodges (Lucy) of Toccopola; eight grandchildren, Terri Stanley, Barry Wardlaw, Tony Wardlaw, Lee Chrestman, Jason Chrestman, Wesley Harris, Stevie Hodges and Carley Hodges; five great-grandchildren, Cole Chrestman, Mary Collins Wardlaw, Mac Wardlaw, Britney Wardlaw and Jon Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Fields Bevill and Joan Autice Tutor Bevill; her husband, Gathright Hodges; her daughter, Glenda Collums; a brother, Horace Bevill; and a sister, Cuple Fleming.
Pallbearers will be Lee Chrestman, Jason Chrestman, Steve Hodges, Barry Wardlaw, Billy Berry and Randy Stanley.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Maury O. Nelson
CORINTH – Maury O. Nelson, 55, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at his residence. A lifelong resident of Alcorn County, he was a 1975 graduate of Corinth High School. He was a former employee of the Bottling Industry and several local automobile dealerships. He enjoyed attending boat races, riding his Harley and spending time with all of his friends.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to service time today.
Survivors include one sister, Sherry Stevens, and one nephew, Tyler Stevens, both of Nashville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noonan “N.D.” and Nadine Nelson.

NEW ALBANY – Sammy Haynes, 63, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by United Funeral Service.

Reba Stembridge
TUPELO – Reba Doris “Dot” Stembridge, 69, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. A Saltillo native, she was born April 6, 1941, to Henry Brice and Nancy Paralee Crump Martin. In 1959, she graduated from Sherman High School and then attended Itawamba Community College. She loved sewing and time spent with her family. She was a member of Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Wes Stephens and Rev. Rowland Dempsey officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 51 years, Milford Stembridge of Tupelo; one daughter, Margaret Wilburn (Phil) of Ozark Community; three grandchildren, Dallas Wilburn of Starkville, Truman Wilburn (Hannah) of Ozark Community and Austin Wilburn of the home; one great-granddaughter, Scarlet Faith Wilburn; her special family, Joyce Siddall (Charles) of Tupelo; and her two special grandsons, Scott and Brian Siddall of Tupelo; a special friend, Bobbie Hammock of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Stephanie Ann Stembridge.
Pallbearers will be Truman Wilburn, Austin Wilburn, Charles Siddall, Jamie Siddall, Scott Siddall and Gerry Scruggs.
Brian Siddall will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Minnie Howell
BALDWYN – Minnie Anglin Howell, 87, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her home in Baldwyn after a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lester Howell of Baldwyn; two daughters, Martha Bittles of Baldwyn and Minnie Lou Cook of Goshen, Ind.; two sons, Jerry Howell of Arizona and Larry Howell of Alsip, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Kenny, Timmy and Stephen Bittles, Deborah Kuitse, David Lange, Dora Madsen, and Larry, Tony, Jeremy and Jason Howell; 17 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerome Anglin; a brother, Oliver Anglin; and a son-in-law, George Cook.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Howell, Cole Howell, Wayne Howell, Kenny Bittles, Timmy Bittles and Stephen Bittles.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vaughn Herl
HERNANDO – Vaughn Ceile Gordon Herl, 73, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. She was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Bruce. She was a retired bailiff for the Desoto County Justice Court and a longtime member of Gray’s Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of the Bruce Chapter of the DAR.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. The Rev. Richard Donahue will officiate, and the Rev. Danny Bell will assist. Burial will be in the Bruce Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Lee Herl Sr. of Hernando, whom she married on Sept. 24, 1955; a daughter, Kay Herl Brewer (Bernie) of Hernando; a son, Robert Gordon Herl (Nicci) of Hernando; a sister, Cookie Gordon Latham (Tom) of Slate Springs; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis B. Gordon and Elvie Edwards Gordon, and a son, Harold L. Herl Jr.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Tommy D. White
RIPLEY – Tommy D. White, 65, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at his home in Ripley. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Ripley Funeral Home.

Annette Freeman
NEW ALBANY – Annette Park Freeman, 93, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at her residence. She was born April 19, 1917, in Van Vleet to Thomas Elbert Park and Alma Modess Seay Park. She graduated from Van Vleet School as the valedictorian of her class. She married W.B. “Bill” Freeman on May 20, 1938. She raised chickens and sold eggs to her neighbors and cut her own yard until in her 80’s. She loved her flowers and her garden. She was a member of the Van Vleet Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Funeral Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Sammy McMillen officiating. Burial will be at the Glenfield Memorial Park.
She is survived by two daughters, Thelma Louise Wilson and Patricia Gale Swords (Jimmy); two sons William Evans Freeman (Sandra) and Jerry Thomas Freeman (Barbara); 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Peggy Freeman Gann; two sisters, Elma Etoyl Park and Eva Otis Park; a brother, Elbert Evans Park; and two sons-in-law, Thomas “Tokey” Wilson and Donald G. Gann.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CORINTH – Shaun Jemont Barnett, 31, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at his home.

Katie Goodrich
PALMETTO – Karen Renee “Katie” Goodrich, 50, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born in Red Bay, Ala., on June 26, 1959, to Resel Lindsey and Wilma Boyd Lindsey. She lived much of her adult life in the Shannon, Verona and Palmetto areas of Lee County. She enjoyed being with her friends, cooking and eating, rock and roll music, and watching the Judges’ shows and the weather on television. She thoroughly enjoyed life and living it to the fullest.
Friends and family will gather at 6:30 p.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to service time.
Survivors include her son, Jon Pounds of Amory; one sister, Sherry Hendrix (Jimmy) of Mooreville; four nieces, Crissy Kyle, Rhonda Cox, Nita Gilland and Brandi Lindsey; two nephews, Jesse Lindsey and David Keaton; her companion of 16 years, Ted Harris of Palmetto.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Luch and Lelola Lindsey, Hose Boyd and Henrietta Boyd Lindsey; and two siblings, Donnie Lindsey and Lynn Beasley.

TUPELO – Jan Houck Kirk, 81, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at her home in Tupelo after a long illness.
