OKOLONA – Johnnie Bray, 77, died suddenly Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Amory. She was born December 12, 1933 in Kennedy, Ala. to Raymond Allen and Addine Hankins Stevens. She lived in Okolona for 10 years before moving to Houston in 2003. Johnnie was a member of Okolona Christian Church of Okolona. She was the owner/operator of Johnnies beauty shop in Alvin, Texas. She enjoyed needlepoint, drinking coffee, watching Westerns and collecting dishes and ceramic birds.
Services are 3 PM Monday, June 27, 2011, at Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel with Rev. Kevin Crestman officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation is 5pm-8pm Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the funeral Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy King (Kim) of Canton, Mich.; god daughter, Leigh Ann Graves of Okolona; three brothers, Earl Stevens (Lazette) of Amory, Fred Stevens (Childs) of Okolona and Mark Stevens (Sharon) of Houston; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Stevens of Vanvleet; a brother-in-law, Gary Reed of Fulton; two aunts, Eloise Parker of Okolona and Margie Owings of Demopolis, Ala.; an uncle, Charles Hankins; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jeffrey Bray and Steven Bray; a brother, Harold Stevens; and two sisters, Betty Reed and Mary Beth McCharen
Pallbearers are Dean Stevens, Ashley Stevens, Andy Stevens, John Taylor Stevens, Bryan Bray, Paul Thomas, Walter Henry and Dennis Dunn.

BELDEN – Martis D. “Buddy” Ramage, Sr., 78, longtime Lee County Educator and Civic Leader, husband of Helen Estes Ramage and father of Marty Ramage, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Funeral services will be at 3 PM Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors . Private entombment will follow in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum at Lee Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5PM-8PM today and from 2 PM-service time on Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors.

HOULKA – James McCammon, 73, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at his home. He was born June 8, 1938, in Calhoun County to Jesse and Mary Jane McCammon. He was retired from Franklin Corporation of Houston, and he was a member of Schooner Valley Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Schooner Valley Baptist Church in Houlka with Bro. Linn Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Southern Funeral Chapel of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Houlka; four sisters, Catherine McCammon of Houston, Darlene Poyner and Johnny of Houston, Betty McDuff and Jerry of Vicksburg and Melissa Bradberry and Mike of Houston; six brothers, Alvis McCammon of Houston, Travis McCammon, Bob and Jeanette McCammon, Lannie McCammon, Danny and Linda McCammon and Jimmy McCammon and Janice, all of Vicksburg; stepdaughters, Lynn Armstrong and Kelly of Johnson City, Tenn. and Jackie Misenhelter and Jerry of Oxford; four grandchildren, Sherry Tallant and Dusty, Jondalyn Chrestman, Larendi Armstrong and Michael Armstrong; and four great-grandchildren, Holly, Eva and Skylar Tallant and Joseph Kent.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia McCammon; and his parents, Jesse and Mary Jane McCammon
Pallbearers will be Danny McCammon, Jerry McDuff, Jake Wilson, David Collums, Jim McCammon and Bob McCammon.

Louise Hardy Diggs
TUPELO – Louise Hardy Diggs, 86, left her earthly home on Saturday, June 25, 2011, while residing at Golden Living Retirement Center in Tupelo. Mrs. Diggs was born in Prentiss Co., Baldwyn to the late Troy Hardy and Lillie Mae Melton Hardy. She lived most all her adult life in Lee County where she was employed for years as a seamstress with Blue Bell Manufacturing Co. and retired with Delta/Rockwell Manufacturing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shannon. Mrs. Diggs loved her family and her grandchildren who affectionately knew her as Mamaw. She enjoyed sewing and made many of her children’s clothes, needlework, crocheting and working jigsaw puzzles.
Services will be at 11 AM Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Robert Allen officiating. Private family burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 PM-4 PM today (Sunday) and from 10 am –service time on Monday all at the Tupelo Chapel.

Survivors include her three children, Brenda Kyle (Jerry) of Shannon, Joe Diggs (Charlotte) of Plantersville and Mitchell Diggs (Tammy) of Oxford; her grandchildren, Tonya Carter, Brian Diggs, Bill Diggs, Carter Diggs, Michelle Weeks and Melinda Ownby; five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two brothers, Bill Hardy of Baldwyn and James Hardy of Tupelo; a sister, Edith Carlock of Guntown.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Banks Hardy who died in l972 and Duel Turner who died in 2005; and a grandson, Carey Kyle in 2000.

Lois ‘Mae’ Thomas
NETTLETON – Lois “Mae” Thomas, 72, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1939, to Clifford Hurssey and Ozema Shumpert Hurssey. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Charm Steps. She was an agent for the Williams Memorial Funeral Home for more than 20 years.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Perry officiating. Williams Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her brother, George (Ida) Hurssey of Fulton; five sisters, Effie Pound (Truman) of St. Louis, Mo., Helen Blackmon of St. Louis, Mo., Tempie Hurssey of Wichita, Kan., Ripple Foster (John) of Plantersville, and Linda Traylor (Bobby) of Fulton.
NETTLETON – Syble Hester Rea, 92, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of Buddy and Lillie Brown Hester of Nettleton. She was born April 27, 1919, in Itawamba County and spent her formidable years there until moving to Lee County in 1987.
She was a familiar face at Holley’s Fish & Steakhouse for over 30 years. She was a retired employee of Reed’s Mfg. and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Nettleton. She loved tending to her beautiful flowers and plants and being with her family and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with the Rev. Wayne Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Lee Rea (Glenda) of Plantersville; two grandsons, Chip Rea (Lana) and Brant Rea, both of Plantersville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Rea; her parents; five sisters, Daisy Bethay, Emma Kate Rogers, Lois Baggett, Ethel Copeland and Lottie Hester; and a brother, Junior Hester.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home today.
