Betty Shook
BOONEVILLE – Betty Lou Lindsey Shook, 67, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto County.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Larry “Bubba” Burgess
HOULKA – Larry Dale “Bubba” Burgess, 67, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
He was born March 25, 1944, in Houlka to John Felix Burgess and Dorothy Luella Luther Burgess. He was a diesel mechanic and a truck driver.
Services are today, June 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Houlka Church of the Nazarene in Houlka with Tim Brown and Rev. Tommy Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home in Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Reid Burgess of Houlka; his mother, Dorothy Burgess of Houlka; his daughter, Daphne Burgess Paden of Houlka; his son, Little Bubba and Amanda Burgess of Houlka; his grandchildren, Lacey Leachman, Michael Paden, Austin Burgess, Shannon Burgess, Rivers Burgess, and Hayden Reid Burgess; his sisters, Zadie and George Bailey of West Point, and Bonnie Brown of Houlka; his brothers, Rickey and Ronnie Burgess of Houlka, John and Ruthie Burgess of Little Rock, Ark., and Mickey Burgess of Houlka.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Burgess, and his brother, Ken Burgess.
Pallbearers are Matt Brown, Lee Burgess, Austin Burgess, James Glenn Cole, Michael Paden, Johnny Burgess II, Andy Brown, and Josh Frazier.

CORINTH – Mary Nell Sims Oaks, 75, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Farmington Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Nall officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

OLIVE BRANCH – Elizabeth Diane McAlexander, 28, died at her home in Olive Branch. She was born Nov. 23, 1982, in Memphis. She was a Jehovah Witness and worked as an esthetician.
Services will be today, June 3, 2011, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Sondra Blackburn (David), of Olive Branch; her father, Sidney McAlexander (Donna), of Holly Springs; a brother, Preston McAlexander of Holly Springs; a sister, Megan Holcomb of Booneville; and her grandmothers, Sue McAlexander of Holly Springs and Lisa Peeler of Ashland.

Sue Young
BOONEVILLE – Mary Sue Wardlow Young, 74, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at her home. She was born July 17, 1936, in Booneville to Cliff David Wardlow and Eula Mae Hathcock Wardlow. She was an active and faithful member of the Jumpertown Baptist Church. She was a supervisor at Prentiss Manufacturing Company. She enjoyed reading and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, June 3, 2011, at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Scott officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
She is survived by two sons, Greg W. Young (Angie) and Ronnie D. Young (Donna), all of Jumpertown; five grandchildren, Michael H. Wallis (Claire), Jason D. Young, Dana C. Young, Josh D. Young, and Jon W. Young, all of Jumpertown; a great-granddaughter, Kinsey D. Wallis of Jumpertown; a brother-in-law, Billy Monfee of Bartlett, Tenn.; her caregiver, Sonya Swinney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Young Jr., on Jan. 15, 2009; a daughter, Kathy D. Young Wallis; and a sister, Gladys Gable.

Raymond Lee Clifton
TUPELO – Raymond Lee Clifton, 58, died Monday, May 30, 2011, in North Carolina. He was formerly of Guntown. He was born Jan. 24, 1953, to Lillie Agnew Clifton and the late L. C. Clifton.
Services will be Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 1p.m. at North Green Street Church of Christ in Tupelo with Bro. Daniel McCollum officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Guntown. Agnew and Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his devoted friend, Janice Gilliam; two daughters, Rachel Clifton and Nicole Clifton Smith (Justin); his mother, Lillie Clifton of Guntown; two brothers, Abraham Clifton of Guntown and Thomas Clifton (Annjeanette); five grandchildren; four aunts, Gwendolyn McCoy of Baldwyn, Pearlean Draughan of Tupelo, Essie Darnell and Mable Young of Toledo, Ohio; one uncle, James Davis of Baldwyn; one great aunt, Clara Johnson of Tupelo and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Lola Clifton and Joyce Gandy; one brother, Lawrence Clifton; and one son, Antonio Clifton.

Benjamin Lane
WEST POINT – Benjamin Daniel Lane, 20, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was the son of the Rev. Thomas E. Lane and Linda Raleigh Lane. He was a stocker at Kroger’s in Starkville.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at U.F.C.W. Local No. 1991 Bryan Union Hall with Pastor Steve Jamison officiating. Interment will be in West Point Memorial Gardens. Carter’s Mortuary Services of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

BOONEVILLE – Orville Truman “Mickey” South, 71, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, June 3, 2011, at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forked Oak Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Adams
FULTON – Kenneth Adams, 70, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011. He was born Oct. 28, 1940, to Luther and Vetress Dulaney Adams. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was in the Army. He was a truck driver for Hickory Hill. He loved music and working in the yard. He also loved Chicago Blackhawks and White Sox.
Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Senter Funeral Home with ministers Wallace Strawn, Brad Haumesser and Bobby Jarrell officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Adams of Fulton; daughters, Lori Little of Hanover, Md., Mitzi Nasce (Richard) of Tupelo; a son: Gregg Adams of Fulton and a granddaughter, Hayley Nasce, of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy Adams Works.
Pallbearers will be Charles (Buck) Beasley, Johnny Jarrell, Brad Haumesser, R.B. Nichols, Terry Harrell and Darryl Pitts. Gary Nichols is an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday.

CORINTH – Beatrice H. Woodall, 78, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.

BLUE SPRINGS – Emma McCary Jones, infant daughter of Cameron and Jessica Jones, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
