OXFORD – June Anderson White, 94, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley.
A graveside service will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at College Hill Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to service time Sunday at College Hill Presbyterian Church.

Landers Slack
OXFORD – Landers Slack, 88, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A native of Lafayette County, she was the daughter of Duff and Antonio Martin. She was a member of East Providence M.B. Church, where she served on the mother’s board and missionary board. She was the widow of Dock Slack.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at East Providence M.B. Church. The Rev. Johnny Frost will officiate. Burial will be in Yellowleaf Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by five daughters, Pearline (Clayton) Mathis, Shirley (James) Brown, Dianne (William) Mullin, Annie Williams and Barbara (Wade) Herod, all of Oxford; one son, Robert (Geraldine) Slack of Oxford; three sisters, Annie Curtis of Memphis, Maudie Rockette of Water Valley and Roberta Johnson of Oxford; 25 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

PONTOTOC – Theo Lantrip, 91, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at his home in Memphis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery of Buckhorn community. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lotus Lantrip; one daughter, Peggy Hanna of Madison, Ala.; one son, Frankie Lantrip (Jeannie) of Southaven; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

TUPELO – Carolyn Sue Montgomery Weathington, 57, passed on Monday, June 3, 2013, at her home. She was born May 29, 1956, to Madella and Birley Montgomery in Guntown.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Willie D. Weathington; two daughters, Angela Montgomery and Shadarianna Weathington; two sons, Rickey B. (Anjonette) Montgomery and Terry P. (Ashley) Montgomery of Tupelo; a goddaughter, Sha’Riya Shaw; a godson, Patrick Shaw of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Arnez, Ternerious, Kristen, Cameron, Skylar and Ashton Montgomery; one great-grandson, Triston Williams; seven sisters, Rosie Mae Richardson, Shirley Jean Miller, Shanty Montgomery, all of Tupelo, Annie Montgomery of Chicago, Diane Walker of Detroit, Mich., Drbra Williams of Starkville, Cassandra (Tommy) Simpson of Atlanta, Ga.; seven brothers, Charles (Johnnie) Agnew of Saltillo, James (Lucille) Garner of Tupelo, Jerry (Catherine) Montgomery of Lawton, Okla., James Montgomery of Plantersville, Eddie Montgomery of Tupelo, Stacy Montgomery of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lawrence Montgomery of Chicago; and a host of nieces and nephews.

BOONEVILLE – Sandra McCoy, 48, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and pets. She was assistant manager at Food Giant Grocery and she was a Methodist.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Robert McCoy and Bro. Rickey Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Neil McCoy of Wheeler; her mother, Ruby Griggs of Amory; her daughter, Melaine Tollison (Michael)of Saltillo; her son, Brandon McAfee (Stephanie) of Milton; two brothers, Rickey Griggs of Sumrall and Randy Griggs of Amory; her grandchildren, Carson McAfee and Madison Tollison.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Griggs, and her father, Bryant O. Griggs.
Pallbearers will be Josh Griggs, Drew Carter, J.R. Wicker, Eric, Larry Ray and Daniel Horton.
Visitation will begin at noon Sunday and last until service time at the funeral home.

Jamie Westmoreland
NETTLETON – Jamie L. Westmoreland, 24, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at his residence. He was born Dec. 4, 1988, to Johnny and JoAnn Lynn Westmoreland in Tupelo. He was a Baptist in belief. He honorably served his country with the National Guard for six years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, disc golf, canoeing, being outdoors and most of all, being a daddy.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with military honors. Bro. Jackie Gray will officiate. Burial will follow in Keyes Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Johnny and JoAnn Westmoreland of Nettleton; his fiancée, Casey Walters of Shannon; a son, Tyler Westmoreland of Shannon; a daughter, MaKenzie Westmoreland of Shannon; a brother, J.J. (Lori) Westmoreland of Peppertown; his grandparents, Wendell (Ann) Westmoreland of Dorsey, Jessie Faye Franks of Mantachie; a niece, AnnaKate Westmoreland of Saltillo; a nephew, Ethan Westmoreland of Saltillo; and one aunt and three uncles.
Pallbearers will be Bret Turner, Russ Houston, Robbie Moore, Kevin Westmoreland, Wade Westmoreland and Tony Yeager.

Virgie Vasser
OKOLONA – Virgie Cunningham Vasser died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1919, to Henry Cunningham and Malinda Sims Cunningham. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hebron M.B. Church. She helped rear all her grandchildren, and she loved gardening.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at New Hebron M.B. Church with the Rev. Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by five daughters, Marie Lee (Joseph), Charlie M. King (James), Mary Troope, Arvalla Gardner (Johnny “Nute”) and Margie Vasser Pierce, all of Aberdeen; a son, Sam Vasser (Jennifer) of Montgomery Ala.; a special granddaughter, Lorretta Johnson (Willie) of Prairie; a sister-in-law, Arlene Graves of Kalamazoo, Mich.; special cousins, Earnestine Brown and Jackie Flournoy; 17 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, four brothers, and a son-in-law.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the Funeral Home.

Venida Hatfield
BOONEVILLE – Venida Jones Hatfield, 61, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at her home. She was born May 1, 1952, in Kennett, Mo., to Cecil and Violet Christene Brake Jones. She was a homemaker, a Piggly Wiggly employee and a Baptist. She enjoyed reading, music, and tending her flower garden. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Hall officiating. Cremation will follow.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Danny Joe Hatfield; two daughters, Joy Hatfield Goldman and Jodi Hatfield Davis (Josh), all of Booneville; three brothers, Johnny Long (Laura) of Indiana, Dale Carr (Diane) of Michigan and Eddie Carr of Mississippi; four sisters, Idola Harrell of Michigan, Doris Frye of Texas, Violetta Holloway and Maggie Philpot of Mississippi; four grandchildren, Joshua Goldman, Jada Goldman, Brannon Davis and Braden Davis; a sister-in-law, Debbie Carr; and a brother-in-law, David Hatfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nellie Sue D’Kane and Mary Roberts; her stepfather, Edra C. Carr.
Honorary pallbearers are Richey Hatfield, Chad Hatfield, Jason Carr, John Goldman, Josh Davis and Robert Stennett, and Logan Kesler.

Walter McGee
PONTOTOC – Walter Saxon “Buddy” McGee, 91, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. He was a retired farm implement sales manager, a member of West Heights Baptist Church and a graduate of Mississippi State University. He was a Mason and an Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid quail hunter, tennis player and sports fan.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Dr. David Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Fuenral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Gooch McGee; sons, Lynn McGee (Nancy) of Ripley, Bob McGee (Claire) of Watkinsville, Ga., Tom McGee of Hernando; sisters, Mary Sue Montgomery, Jimmie Nell Schubert and Sarah Ann York; grandchildren, Lauren Babb, Catherine McGee, Alyson Gembala and Robert McGee; great-grandchildren, Cate, Ava and Jack Babb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Clara Saxon McGee, and brothers, William Herbert McGee and Charles Delaline McGee.
Pallbearers will be Joe Babb, Ryan Gembala, Rick Luna, Glen McGee, Raymond Montgomery, Herbert Montgomery and Jimmy Montgomery.

ABERDEEN – Charles L. “Too Tall” Harris, 70, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was self-employed with Harris Construction and an independent contractor with Eutaw Construction dor many years. He was a member of New First Baptist Church in Sawyerville, Ala.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 8, at Belle Memorial Funeral Chapel in Aberdeen. The Rev. Maurice Howard will officiate. Burial will be Sunday, June 9, in the Harris Cemetery in Sawyerville, Ala. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen in charge.
He is survived by a special friend, Luecinda Straughter; two sons, Henry Thomas of Millington, Tenn., and Zebedee Harris of Marion, Ala.; five daughters, LaToya Straughter (Kenneth) of Shannon, LaTasha Straughter of Aberdeen, Lucretia Phillips (Clarence) of Greensboro, Ala., Elizabeth Bryant (Shawn) and Lashawn Harris, both of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; seven brothers, Roosevelt Harris, Dave Ward, James Ward, Abraham Harris (Cora) and Alex Powell, all of Sawyerville, Ala., James Lewis and Eddie Powell, both of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; five sisters, Amy White, Annie Brown, Sarah Harris and Patricia Morse, all of Sawyerville, Ala., and Elizabeth Carter of California; three grandchildren; seven stepchildren, Bobby Straughter (Althea) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., J.T. Audrey Mae Hammett
DENNIS – Audrey Mae Hammett, 97, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Generations of Red Bay. She was born Feb. 9, 1916, in Alabama. She was a factory worker at Blue Bell and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Belmont.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 8, at New Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Weems officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery at Golden. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are three children, Wreathel Davis and Bob Hammett, both of Dennis, and Faye Wells of Belmont; eight grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Hammett; her parents, Walter Partain and Minnie Shedd Partain; one great-grandchild; and five brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Roberts, Mark Irvin, Joel Wells, Shane Hammett, Tony Pannell, Trevor Pannell, Jeremy Pannell and Zachary Pannell.
The body will lie in repose from 1 to 2 p.m. today at New Bethel Baptist Church.

Durwood Young
PONTOTOC – Durwood Young, 72, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Pontotoc Masonic Lodge 81 and a Shriner. He was self-employed and the owner of Young’s Appliances.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Morton Young of Pontotoc; his daughter, Gale Mills (Joe) of Brandon; one brother, Joe Young (Belinda) of Pontotoc; seven grandchildren, Patrick Benson, Victoria Biggers, Montana Mills, Dallas Mills, Lauren Young Deaton (Bradley), Steven Young and Braylor Young; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Benson, Grayson Young, Carson Deaton and Aubrey Deaton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordis Durwood “Tot” Young and Cubell Roye Young, and his son, Steve Young.
Pallbearers will be: Patrick Benson, Steven Young, Bradley Deaton, Joe Mills, Phillip Mitchell, Wayne Childers, Talmadge Holloway and Dale Holloway.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mary E. Smith
PRAIRIE – Mary E. Smitherman Smith, 89, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013, at her home in the Una community of Prairie. She was born April 22, 1924, in Monroe County to Bertie Barnes and Grady Smitherman. She had worked at TIL Garment Factory in Aberdeen, retiring in 1981. During World War II she worked at the Prairie Munitions Plant. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She married Neal Hunter Smith on Sept. 28, 1940, in Clay County. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2009.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Lampkin officiating. The body will lie at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Cantrell Cemetery in Una. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Gene Howell (Randy) of West Point; one son, Neal Ray Smith (Linda) of Prairie; her daughter-in-law, Linda O. Smith of Houston; seven grandchildren, Rachelle Gwathney (Anthony), Tosha Rhea (Shane), Neal Smith (Emily), Courtney Todd (Adam), Helen McVay, Ronald Howell (Wendy) and Shawn Howell (Connie); 16 great-grandchildren, Hunter Shane Howell, Alaina Howell, Joshua Howell, Justin McVay, Jacob Vowell, Jack Bryant, Jadyn Bryant, Tanner Howell, Mary Elease Gwathney Young (Jessie), Matthew Gwathney, Maggie Gwathney, Kaylee Rhea, Mitchell Smith, Faith Coggins, Molly Kate Todd and McKennon Todd.
Preceding her in death were sons, Rex Smith and Raymond Smith; a great-grandson, Daniel Howell; six sisters and seven brothers.
Pallbearers will be Ron Howell, Neal Smith, Shawn Howell, Shane Rhea, Anthony Gwathney, Barry Smitherman, AdamTodd and B.J. Smitherman.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Dorothy Mae Preston Rucker, 74, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

Alvin Snow
OKOLONA – Alvin Snow died Sunday, June 2, 2013. He was a member of Bible Way Church, a farmer and a construction worker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, June 8, at Cedar Grove M.B. Church. Dr. Henry Gladney will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Hyde Snow of Okolona; a brother-in-law, R.D. Hyde of Aberdeen; special caregivers, Daisy Stephens and Darnell Perry; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Snow and Daisy Whitfield Snow; three sisters, Ethel Gillespie, Rebecca Perry and Sadie Perry; four brothers, Harvey Snow Sr., Othelma Snow, James Snow and Willie Snow; a sister-in-law, Mary McDonald.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.

CORINTH – Mary Caldwell, 79, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at her home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Patterson Memorial Chapel.
Brad Nance
TUPELO – Brad Nance, 41, died Thursday, June 6, 2013. A Tupelo native, he was born Nov. 29, 1971, to Tommy Wayne Nance and Jenny Livingston Nance. He was a graduate of Tupelo High School.
A private family service will be held at W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in Tupelo.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Reardon Nance; three children, Maya, Uriah and Kyle; his mother, Jenny Livingston; his father, Wayne Nance; his grandmother, Coleen Nance; his grandfather, Jim Long Livingston; one brother, Brian Nance (Tracye), all of Tupelo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Fray Brown Jr.
SALTILLO – Guile Fray Brown Jr., 70, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born April 5, 1943, to Guile and Margaret Brown. He was a self-employed contractor. An avid fisherman, he loved hunting and NASCAR. He was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church. A family man, he dearly loved his children and grandchildren and the time he spent with them.
Private family services and visitation will be at W.E. Pegues in Tupelo with the Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Madeline Ives Brown of Saltillo; three daughters, Donna Turner of Saltillo, Sandra Wilburn (Kenneth) of Mooreville and Renee Turner (Randy Senter) of Tupelo; two sons, Eric Brown (Cindy) and Jeff Brown (Sharon), both of Saltillo; 18 grandchilden; 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gloria Jean, Jan, Denise and Joan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Theresa Bieller.
