TUPELO – Martha Jean Sandlin Wood died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Fla. She was born April 14, 1946, in Tupelo to Vivian Priddy and Joseph Richard Sandlin. She was a 1964 graduate of Mooreville High School and a 1967 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis. During her career as a Registered Nurse, she worked at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, as a Health Facility Surveyor for the Mississippi State Department of Health in Jackson, as Director of Nursing at hospitals in Hammond and Bastrop, Louisiana, and as a nurse in medical surgical services and finally in quality assurance at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. In 1983, she married Philip Wood of Slidell, La., and in 1988, they moved to Orlando, Fla. They established an antique business, Victoria’s Treasures, located on the grounds of Renninger’s Antiques Center in Mt. Dora, Fla.
Her mother, father, and brothers, John Tyson and Joseph Richard Sandlin Jr, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Philip Wood; a stepson, Tim Wood, both of Orlando; a stepdaughter, Tammie K. Brown of Belton, Texas; two nieces, Joley Wheeler and Patricia Mills, both of Fulton; and a nephew, Mike Sandlin of Nashville.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Gilvo Cemetery in Mooreville
TIPLERSVILLE – Judie Irene Wright, 60, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at her residence. She was born Sept. 3, 1951, to Billie Ruth Wright and the late Edward Wright. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse with 32 years of service. She worked as an RN at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis and a LPN instructor at Northwest Community College in Ashland.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Majers officiating. Burial will be in Family Cemetery in Tiplersville.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Huddleston of Tiplersville and Jason Huddleston (Jill) of Ashland; her mother, Billie Ruth Wright of Tiplersville; one sister, Kay Richardson of Walnut; two brothers, Nathan Wright (Jackie) of Middleton, Tenn., and Danny Wright (Nelda) of Walnut; and one grandchild, Sophie Huddleston of Selmer.
Pallbearers will be Jody Burns, Keith Bullock, Brian Wright, Will Wright, Tony Wright and Shane Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Cunningham and Caleb Cuffman.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Wright; and one grandchild, Tyler Huddleston.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home.

BALDWYN – Charlene King, 70, dies Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. She was the retired owner and operator of Sissy’s Restaurant in Baldwyn. She was a Baptist.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro O.T. Hester officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Sissy Wren (Andy) of Baldwyn; four sons, Billy King (Tiffany) of Baldwyn, Wayne King (Lisa) of Baldwyn, Carl King (Nancy) of Baldwyn and David King (Ann) of Baldwyn; three sisters, Mildred White, Willie Carr and Joyce Lowe all of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Chuck Wilson and Wayne Wilson, both of Rockford, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, Rejetta Mitchell, Bobby Joe King, Jack King, J.J. King, Nathan King, Garrett King, Vance King, Ethan King, Kelli Wallace, Carleen King, Cash King, Marianna King and Jaycee Adams; and six great-grandchildren, William Wilson, Dakota Wilson, Hunter Willson, Mallory King, Brooklyn King and Landon King.
BOONEVILLE – Zana Caver Hill, 92, of Booneville, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home. She was born July 25, 1919, to William Luther and Minnie Belle Breedlove Caver. She was a graduate of New Site High School and Wood College in Mathiston, where she served as president of Wood College Alumni Association. In addition to a full life given in service to her family, she was formerly employed by the Prentiss County Welfare Department and the Northeast Mississippi Junior College Cafeteria. She was a member of Candlers Chapel Baptist Church and a faithful supporter of Meadow Creek United Methodist Church through the years.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Ruth Whatley (William) of Columbus, Ga.; a son, Larry David Hill of Baldwyn; a grandson, Logan David Hill of Birmingham; three stepgrandsons, William Wayne Whatley Jr. (Joy) of Montgomery, Ala., Ansel Gideon Whatley of Columbus, Ga., and Clarence Hill Whatley of Auburn, Ala.; and seven stepgrandchildren; Hill Whatley, Jane Whatley, Billy Whatley, Stephanie Whatley, Jacob Whatley, Michael Campbell and Michele Campbell.
Preceding her in death is addition to her parents were her husband, Maurice Logan Hill; and her seven brothers, Fred Caver, Hershel Caver, Olen Caver, W.L. Caver Jr., Horace Caver, Ralph Caver and Harmon Caver.

TISHOMINGO – Dessie Lee Martin, 81, died Friday, March 16, 2012.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Red Bay, Ala. Burial will be in Tishomingo Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont are in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

LAMAR – Alverna Jimmerson Crawford, 89, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Methodist Hospital-North in Memphis, Tenn.
Service is at 1 p.m. Monday at Samuel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ashland. Burial will be at the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs are in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home and from noon until service time Monday at the church.
