HOLLY SPRINGS – Ruby Lee Bean Johnson, 79, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at South Ashland Church of Christ in Ashland. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose from 9:30 to 10:25 a.m. Saturday at the church.

MEMPHIS – Betty Jean Lucas, 56, formerly of Red Banks, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Red Banks. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

George Fair Jr.
TUPELO – George Fair Jr., 78, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Jan. 16, 1934, to Sank Fair and Fannie Mae Ross Fair in Lee County. He was a member of Poplar CME Church in Saltillo, where he was a member of the male choir and played lead guitar. He worked for Tupelo Water & Light for many years and retired from Amco Truck Stop.
Services will be at noon Saturday at the Inspirational Community Baptist Church in Tupelo with the Rev. Willie Lee Harper officiating. Burial will be in the Porter Memorial Garden in Tupelo. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Verona is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Gussie Fair of Tupelo; seven daughters, Rosie Fair, Barbara (Charles) Saxton, Cathy Clanton and Regina (W.C.) Banks, all of Tupelo, Juanita Young of Baldwyn, Patricia Fair of Saltillo and Lisa Fair of Mooreville; three sons, George Fair of Saltillo, Robert Fair and Ricky Fair, both of Tupelo; two sisters, Loretta (Calvin) Shells and Katherine (Roosevelt) Cobbs; one brother, Bobby Fair; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; special friends, James and Christine King.

Sonny Jones
SHANNON – Sonny “Toe” Jones, 70, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born May 9, 1941, to Joe Jones and Easter Smith Jones Bownes. He was a member of Johnson Chapel M.B. Church in Shannon. He worked as a truck driver, and owner and operator of trucking companies in Chicago and Mississippi. He drove internationally for over 50 years.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Chapel M.B. Church with Rev. J.S. Agnew officiating. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Verona is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Edmond Jones; five daughters, Doris Lewis-Gaston, Carolyn Jones, Patricia (Willie) Jackson, Denise (Chris) Graham and Pamela (James) Springer; three sons, Sammie Lee Jones, James Michael (Beverly) Jones and Abdul Azeem Muhammad (Ron); four brothers, Richard (Uisula) Jones, John (Earlene) Lumpkin, Joseph (Levetta) Jones and Arthur (wife) Jones of Atlanta; three sisters, Irene Heard, JoAnn Leach and Bessie Pickett; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe Lee Jones.

RH Kennedy
DORSEY – RH “Duggen” Kennedy, 64, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 7, 1947, in Halltown, Ark., to Chester and Arthur Lucille Aldridge Kennedy. He retired after 30 years of service from Super Sagless Corporation in Tupelo, where he worked as a foreman. He was a member of Dorsey Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on lawn mowers and small engines. He was described as an all around people person who never met a stranger. He was a true loving brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Greenlee Kennedy, whom he married April 14, 2000; a daughter, Deanne (Alan) Wiley of Missouri; a son, RH (Stephanie) Kennedy Jr. of Dorsey; a stepson, James (Christy) McCaslane of Mississippi; a stepdaughter, Lauren Baker of Farmington, Ohio; his grandchildren, Taylor and Jordon Wylie, Chaney and Tanner Kennedy, Matthew, Austin and Emily McCaslane; his siblings, Leon (June) Kennedy, Joyce “Jody” Gammons, Linda (Larry) Woods and Chester Kennedy Jr., all of Mississippi, and Jean (David) Attaberry of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lera Harrington; and a brother, Stan Kennedy.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dorsey Baptist Church. Charles Riles Funeral Home is assisting the family.

BALDWYN – Ruby Evelyn Bridges 90, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility after an extended illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Hill’s Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church and reading her Bible.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Jimmy Newby and Bro. Ray Guin officiating. Burial will be in Hill’s Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Ray (Robert) of Baldwyn; two sons, Thomas Bridges (Jackie) and Larry Bridges, all of Baldwyn; six grandchildren, Chris Bridges, Brandy Dobbs (Michael), Melanie Bruce (James), Jason Bridges (Amanda), Josh Bridges and Courtney Mills (BJ); seven great-grandchildren, Cory Mills, Zac Mills, Riley Bridges, Hunter Dobbs, James Bruce (Hailey), Savannah Bruce and Troy Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Maude Mabry; her husband, James E. Bridges; brothers, Archie Mabry, Buddy Mabry and Carl Mabry; sisters, Annie White, Edith Bean, Emma Mae Herring and Myrtle Griffin.
Pallbearers will be Chris Bridges, Jason Bridges, Josh Bridges, BJ Mills, James Bruce and Michael Dobbs.

Ruby Vining
PONTOTOC – Ruby Roye Vining died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Sunshine Health Care Center in Pontotoc. She was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Pontotoc County to Noble and Henrietta Roye. She was married to Sam Gillum until his death. In 1956 she married Robert Vining. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a Civil Service employee, working on the Army base.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Bro. Fred Hartley and Bro. Paul Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Curtis (Tom) of Olathe, Kan.; two grandchildren, Lori and Monica; two sisters, Mildred Carnell of New Albany and Lora Haley of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Roye and Bobbie Roye of Pontotoc; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Sam Gillum, father of Rita; her second husband, Robert Vining; one sister, Wilma Cathcart; and six brothers, Cecil Roye, Edd Roye, Charles Roye, Clyde Roye Sr., Marvin Roye and Boyce Roye.
Pallbearers will be her great-nephews.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today.

Lola Pace
HAMILTON – Lola Mae Green Pace, 79, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. She was born May 2, 1932, to Aaron Ted Green and Annas McDaniel Green in Big Canyon, Okla. She lived in Monroe County for the past 65 years. She graduated from high school in Crane, Texas. She retired as an accounting clerk at Kerr-McGee in Hamilton. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Terry Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
Survivors four sons, Billy Dale Pace (Peggy) of Aberdeen, Jimmy Carl Pace (Sissy) of Nicholls, Ga., Teddy Joe Pace of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Terry Lee Pace (Gale) of Hamilton; one sister, Dyantha Hammons of Cypress, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Joe Pace; one daughter, Betty Pace House; one son, Steve Pace; and two brothers, Ted Green and Hugh Neal Green.
Pallbearers will be Chad Pace, Chris Pace, T.J. Pace, Cole Williams, Ben Guest, Cody Wiley and Gage Morris.

CORINTH – Ed Killough, 67, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Senatobia.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Killough; his daughters, April, Kelly and Christy; his grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah, Jonathan and Dan.

Billy Ray Gilleylen
AMORY – Billy Ray Gilleylen, 77, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Born on March 9, 1935, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Billy Gilleylen and Annie Jackson Gilleylen. He was a member of St. Paul Holiness Church of Becker. He attended school in Becker. He was a former employee of Strawbridge Construction and later worked at Cramco Inc. He enjoyed working in the yard and the garden, working, cleaning the house, and talking to family and friends. A God-fearing man, he was a charter and active member of St. Paul Holiness Church.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Holiness Church of Becker with Elder J.O. Barrentine officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Cemetery. Darden and Sons Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by three sons, Steve Walton of Amory, Harold “Skip” (Tyrongilia) of Oxford and Wayne (Teresa) Walton of Wren; five daughters, Janice Wright, Carol “Lucy” Walton, Shirley (Leroy) Poe, Sandra “Kaye” (James) Wiley and Pearlie Mae (Byron) Gleghorn, all of Amory; three brothers, Arthur “Candycat” Gilleylen and Johnny Lee Gilleylen, both of Amory, and Edgar Gilleylen of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mary Lucille Dankins of Amory, Gussie Mae (John) Bennett of Milwaukee and Claudia “Billie” Stallings of Aberdeen; a special granddaughter, Latrenda Guines; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie Lee “PeeWee” Gilleylen and Leon “Tunkie” Gilleylen; and a sister, Louise Gilleylen Vance.
Vistation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and the family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Greg Deaton
GOLDEN – Gregory Alan Deaton, 53, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born April 28, 1958 in Red Bay, Ala., to William Braxton and Nannie Naomi Skinner Deaton. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1976 and played football for Northeast Mississippi Junior College in Booneville. As an adult, he lived in the Belmont and Golden areas and was employed by Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in Tupelo. He was a member of Golden Central Baptist Church. On Oct. 9, 1977, he married the former Terrie Yvette Padgett. They had two children, Jason Alan Deaton and Christy Nicole Deaton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Shawn Davis officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery at Belmont. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors are his daughter, Christy Shaw (George Shaw); grandson, Haden Braxton-Alan Deaton of Belmont; mother, Naomi Deaton of Golden; two brothers, Ronald B. Deaton (Patricia Pharr Deaton) of Belmont and Donald J. Deaton (Janet Ewing Deaton) of Huntsville, Ala.; two nephews, Kevin Deaton (Jennifer Waddle Deaton) and Kerry Deaton, all of Dennis; one great-niece, Hanna Deaton; and one great-nephew, Dylan Deaton.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Ellis Deaton, on Aug. 28, 1986; his son, Jason, on Dec. 17, 1992; and his father on Jan. 12, 2001.
Pallbearers will be nephew, Kevin Deaton, and cousins, Mike Deaton, Tony Deaton, Bruce Deaton, Rocky Hughes, Odie Hughes, Scotty Hughes and Barry Hughes.

Blanche H. Otis
TUPELO – Blanche H. Otis, 98, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Noxubee County native, she was born Nov. 15, 1913, to Kenneth Keith and Elizabeth Pate Hill. She was a graduate of Shuqualak High School, where she was valedictorian of her senior class. She was a cafeteria manager, worked as a seamstress doing alterations, and later the bookstore manager for MUW. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, reading and quilting.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus with Dr. David Eldridge officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Larry Otis (Sharon Fanning-Otis) of Starkville; her grandchildren, Keith Otis of Honolulu, Hawaii, Cavett Otis (Elise) of Tupelo, Kate Farabaugh (Paul) of Tupelo; her great-grandchildren, Leslie Pleasants (Zack) of Tupelo, Laura Zumwalt (Casey) of Memphis, Will Otis of Tupelo, and Cooper Joyner, Emma Grace Joyner and Julia Farabaugh, all of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Otis; her daughter-in-law, Julia G. Otis; and her grandson, Christopher Arden Otis.

TUPELO – Grace Mae Fields died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 22, 1959, in Memphis to Edward E. Hurd and the late Corine Hurd. She worked at Ramada Inn for 36 years until her health declined.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at N.L. Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammie Staples officiating. Burial will be in Porter’s Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Terry Fields Jr. (fiancée, Stephanie Morgan); two sisters, Annie (Joe) Moore of Tupelo and Mae Lean Cobb of Pontotoc; four brothers, Jessie (Dottie) Hurd, David (Loretta) Hurd, Terry (Hazel) Hurd and Tommy Hurd, all of Tupelo; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one uncle, four aunts, two special friends, and a host of nieces and nephews.

BELLEVIEW, Fla. – Willard Glen “W.G.” Duncan, 89, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Tuscany House in Summerfield, Fla. A native of Alabama, he was a meter reader in city government.

PONTOTOC – Amber Michelle Brown, 15, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in Pontotoc. Our angel, Amber, made our lives brighter and lifted our spirits. On Tuesday, March 20, 2012, God had her fly home. She came into our lives on June 25, 1996. She was a sophomore at South Pontotoc High School. She loved her family and her friends. She had dreams of being a veterinarian. Fly free, Angel, on the wings of love.

PRAIRIE – James E. “Jim” Tallie, 75, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks in Verona. He was born Oct. 19, 1936, to Captain Lee Tallie and Mary Lou Harris Tallie. He was a farmer and a member of Chandler Grove. A funny man, he loved his children, grandchildren and pets.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lake Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. J.P. Orr officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include nine daughters, Mary Ewing, Kathlene Tallie, Shirley Fields (John), Gail Wright (Bobby) and Carrie Drake (Curley), all of Prairie, Melissa Carr (Eric) of Verona, Jessie F. Spoke James
ABERDEEN – Jessie “Spoke” James Jr., 54, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1957, to Louise Washington James and the late Jessie James Sr. He was a member of the New Hebron M.B. Church. He received his education from Aberdeen Schools.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the New Hebron M.B. Church with the Rev. Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Louise Washington James of Aberdeen; four daughters, Christina Fair (Tony) of Aberdeen, Cheree Merhundrew Sims (Richard) of Aberdeen, Chaka James Ivory (Alforoda), Collette James Gates (Quinton) of Aberdeen; two sons, Christopher James and Mark Hampton, of Okolona; sisters, Evenlyn Harris of Atlanta, Lillie Gardner (Willie) of Aberdeen, Ruth Wright (Robert) of Nashville, Genette Gladney of Aberdeen, Belinda Gladney (Jack) of Aberdeen; 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Peggy Wages
BALDWYN – Peggy Gray Wages, 59, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Corinth as a result of an automobile accident. She was a member of East Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and a retired nurses aide. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, lying out tanning, cookouts and just having fun.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kesler Funeral Home Chapel in Baldwyn with Bro. Rex Bullock and Bro. Bub Anglin officiating. Burial will be in the East Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Kesler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Charylee Danielle Gray Swindle (Jessie) of Corinth; her mother, Margaret Gray of Baldwyn; two sisters, Betty Leathers (Dane) of Baldwyn and Diane Sanders (Boone) of Saltillo; two brothers, Billy Gray (Edna) and Danny Gray (Bobbie), both of Baldwyn; a godson, Sammy Wayne Miller of Booneville; and a special friend, Ricky Wilson of Baldwyn.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Gray; and her husband, Dennis Wages.
Pallbearers will be Michael and Jamie Gray, Gary, Cary, Todd and Jonathan Leathers, Buddy Edge and Mickey Devaughn.
