Bobbie Patton-Morris
SHANNON – Bobbie Patton-Morris, 54, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Starkville Manor. She was born Dec. 4, 1958, to Molene Patton and Triming Benson Patton. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age at East Spring Hill M.B. Church. She had a passion for walking and listening to music. She loved her family unconditionally.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shannon High School Gymnasium. Pastor Ernest Lindsey will officiate. Burial will be at Mullens Cemetery in Nettleton. Fields Funeral Home of Okolona in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Michelle) Morris of Shannon; two daughters, Darlene Morris and Celeste “Jean” Morris, both of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Jason Morris, Jasmine Morris and Michael Miller, all of Tupelo, and Michael Morris Jr. and Makinze Morris, both of Shannon; four sisters, Lois (Jack) Ivy, Vanessa Patton and Lisa Goree, all of Shannon, and Shelley (Robert) Gaston of Tupelo; three brothers, Bobby “Ray” Bolden and L.C. Orr, both of Shannon, and Donnie “Hook” (Edna) Orr of Verona; four uncles; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jackie Patton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at East Springhill M.B. Church in Nettleton.

Harvey Rutherford Sr.
BLUE MOUNTAIN – Harvey Tommy Rutherford Sr., 82, died Feb. 27, 2013, at his home. He was born April 10, 1930, in Tippah County to Adline Wright and Leonard Rutherford. He was founder of The Rutherford Family Cemetery.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United House of Prayer. Burial will be in Rutherford Family Cemetery in Blue Mountain. Serenity Fuenral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include six sons, Lee (Marie) Satterwhite and K.C. (Keshia) Rutherford of New Albany, Steve (Noreka) Rutherford of Ecru, Pastor Harvey (Mary) Rutherford, Earnest (Minnie) Rutherford, Donnell (Judy) Rutherford, all of Cotton Plant; 10 daughters, Daisey (William) Foster, Susie (Robert) Grayson, Tracie Rutherford, Diana Triplett, Sanda (Larry) McAlister, Peggy Conner, Tenielle (Orlander) Foster, Brenda (Lamar) Sanders, Linda (Elder Donald) Smith, all of New Albany, Tommie Lou (Elder Fredrick) Moore of Blue Mountain; 38 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

ABERDEEN – Johnnie T. Cungious, 80, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Hopewell M.B. Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Carter’s Funeral Services in Columbus is in charge of the arrangements.

Queen Ester Smith
CORINTH – Queen Ester Smith died Friday, March 1, 2013, at her home. She was born Dec. 6, 1945. She received her education at Easom High School. She was an employee of Jarvis Pemco Wheels and a member of Macedonia M.B. Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church at Kossuth with the Rev. Lamar Walker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo, Mich. Grayson-Porter’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Regenia Somerville; three grandchildren, Larry Somerville, Charday and Rayshion Somerville; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Bell Barton, Mary Baldwin, Pearl Allen (James), Annie Lee Davis, Annie Ruth Wilson (George), Clara Flowers Murray, Gail Murray and Joy Murray; and brothers, Curtis Murray, Dekent Murray, Bobby Earl Murray, James H. Davis, Charles Davis and Ray Murray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubery Smith; her parents, Otis and Ira L. Murray; grandparents, Alfred and Queen Ross; six brothers; two brothers-in-law.

Natalie Pittman
CALHOUN CITY – Natalie Monique Pittman, 28, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a member of Daniel Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Calhoun City. She attended college at Northeast Mississippi Community College, majoring in business.
She is survived by her father, Otis Edmond of Calhoun City; two brothers, Brandon Pittman and Travares Armstrong, both of Calhoun City; and two sisters, Laquanza Ashby of Okolona and Crystal Powell of Bartley, Tenn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Daniel Temple. Pastor W.D. Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery in Grenada County. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of the arrangements.

Mitchell Smith
TUPELO – Mitchell Louis Smith, 60, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 20, 1953, to Willie James Smith Sr. and Mary Christine Miller Smith. He was a member of Lane Chapel CME Church. He enjoyed playing dominoes.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lane Chapel CME Church. Pastor Martin Washington will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Porter’s Memorial Cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith; three children, Amanda (Dallas) McGaughy, Chandler Smith and Dala Smith; two sisters, Mary E. Neal Smith and Barbara Dell Smith; one brother, Willie James Smith 11; six grandchildren, Dallas Jr., Dalayjan, Donavon, Danae, Camron , Cam’Reyuna; and a host of half brothers, half sisters, nieces and nephews.

BOONEVILLE – Eva Mae Barron, 85, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 24, 1927, to Bruce and Lossie Burns. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in the Hopewell community. She retired from Marietta Manufacturing after many years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Scott and Bro. Earl Barron officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
Survivors are two sons, Earl (Jeanie) Barron of Baldwyn and Dean (Brenda) Barron of Clarksville, Tenn.; one sister, Marie Miller Garrett (Don) of Baldwyn; five grandchildren, Michael (Samantha) Barron of Baldwyn, Michelle (Justin) Greer of Dumas, Laura Beth Barron of Clarksville, Tenn., Keeton (Rebecca) Barron of Clarksville, Tenn., and Kevin (Anna) Barron of Ft. Worth, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Wade and Chloe Barron, Carley and Jackson Greer, and Dominic and Marcus Barron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Bill” Barron; her parents; one son, Danny Ray Barron; and two brothers, Lee Burns Sr. and Ed Burns.

CRAWFORD – John Howard Hayes, 78, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 16, 1934, in Lowndes County to Clyde and Rachel Dickens Hayes. He was a graduate of Lee High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He farmed all of his life and also retired from Sanders Oil Company. He was a member of the East Columbus Church of Christ.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with Billy Wayne Whatley officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Services will be shared with his wife, Shirley Burchfield Hayes, who passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
Survivors include his daughters, Anita Ming of Columbus, Diane Jones of Tupelo and Lisa Moore of Columbus; grandchildren, Daryl Ming, Jamie Lowery, Dusty Ming, Jennifer Ming, Jessica Street, Terence Moore, Christopher Moore, Summer Fields and Chase Fields; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Hayes of Brandon; and sisters, Ann Sledge of Columbus, Sarah Richardson of Columbus, Joyce Allen of Southaveb and Pearl Mize of Amory.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Shirley Hayes
CRAWFORD – Shirley Burchfield Hayes, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Minter City to Jessie Lee and Lillian Hood Burchfield. She worked for many years at Seminole Manufacturing and retired from the Texaco Station in Brooksville. She was a member of East Columbus Church of Christ.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Billy Wayne Whatley officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Services will be shared with her husband, John Howard Hayes, who passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013.
Survivors include her daughters, Anita Ming of Columbus, Diane Jones of Tupelo and Lisa Moore of Columbus; brothers, James Olen Burchfield of Dallas, Ga., and George Burchfield of Columbus; sister, Cora Watt of Columbus; grandchildren, Daryl Ming, Jamie Lowery, Dusty Ming, Jennifer Ming, Jessica Street, Terence Moore, Christopher Moore, Summer Fields and Chase Fields; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Hayes.

Sue B. Burton
TUPELO – Bobbie Sue Butler Burton, 79, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Magnolia Manor of Tupelo, A native of Mize, she had lived in Jackson many years before moving to Tupelo in 2010. She was a member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church. She was a retired federal employee with 34 years of service with the Office of Hearings and Appeals. Prior to civil service, she had worked 21 years in private industry.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson with services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Her son-in-law, the Rev. David Blackwell, will officiate. Burial will be in the Raymond City Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia B. Blackwell of Houlka; grandson, Timothy P. Blackwell of Starkville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Burton; her parents, N.O. and Bessie L. Butler; her sisters, Winnie L. Gipson and Ulma R. Sullivan; and her brothers, J.B. Butler, Bill R. Butler and Dennis M. Butler.

Anne Washington
PHEBA – Anne Franklin Washington, 77, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at OCH Regional Medical Center, in Starkville. She was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Cedar Bluff to Sarah Louise Anthony and John Luther Franklin. She was a retired educator, teaching second grade at West Side and South Side for 32 years. She was a member of Pheba Baptist Church. She married Robert Patrick Washington on March 19, 1955. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2002.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery at Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Kay Washington (Bill Patterson) of Nashville, Tenn., and Amy Garrard (Blake) of Pheba; one son, Bob Washington (Brenda) of Pheba; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stovall, Robert Washington, Joby Washington, Patrick Garrard and Kathleen Garrard; three great-grandchildren, Kaley Stovall, Mason Richardson and Mary Ava Washington; and one brother, Richard Franklin (Joyce) of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Jimmy Franklin; and her parents.

Janet Farris
TISHOMINGO – Janet Louise Farris, 60, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a graduate of Mississippi State University. She was retired from F.D.I.C., where she worked for 33 years as a bank examiner. She enjoyed reading, crosstitching and shopping.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Bro. Charles McGill will officiate. Interment will follow in Tishomingo Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include one brother, Jason Farris of Tishomingo; two sisters, Lori Horne (Marvin) of Iuka and Cynthia Seago (Ben) of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; one nephew, John Horne of Iuka; and one niece, Jennifer Seago of Florence, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Louise Williams Farris.

Charles W. Johnson
TUPELO – Charles W. Johnson, 82, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Jan. 17, 1931, to Edgar Dow and Hattie Skinner Johnson. He spent most of his childhood in Itawamba County. He graduated from Mantachie High School and attended ICC. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and after 37 years of faithful service, he retired from Day-Brite. He became a Christian in 1960 and was a member of Gloster Street Church of Christ for 52 years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors, with Ministers Chad Ramsey and Joe Connell officiating. A private interment will follow at Lee Memorial Park in Verona.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patsy Stanford Johnson; his daughter, Lori Davis (Dale); his son-in-law, David Pearce; one sister, Mamie Bruff; one brother, Gordon Johnson (Shelby); five grandsons, Cason (Casey) and Cale (Katelyn) Pearce, Luke Rawson, Reed and Drew Davis; two granddaughters, Cori and Anna Lee Davis; and a great-granddaughter, Adalie Kate Falkner.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanie Pearce; three sisters, Jewel Walker, Bessie O’Callaghan and Melvie Bruff; and one brother, Morton Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Cason, Cale and David Pearce, and Reed, Drew and Dale Davis.

RANDOLPH – Samiley Aubrey Walker went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed life. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis Loyd Walker; 13 brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.

Jessie Carter
VARDAMAN – Jessie Virginia Edington Carter, 92, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home. She was born July 19, 1920, in Vardaman. She was a retired teacher’s aide at Vardaman Elementary and a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Vardaman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City. The Rev. Bob Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery at Bruce.
Survivors include two sons, John Edington (Suzanne) Carter of Ridgeland and George Fredric (Kathi) Carter of Tupelo; one brother, William “Bill” Edington of Pascagoula; and a special caregiver, Georgette Helton of Vardaman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. “Dude” Carter; her parents, Grover “Doc” Edington and Minnie Orr Edington; three sisters, Lorene Ramage, Lillian Burt and Nora Parker; and three brothers, George Edington, Oakley Edington and Charles Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Grover Edington, Walt Edington, Phillip Parker, Henry Ramage, Everett Ramage and John Burt. The Bridge Club will be honorary pallbearers.

TUPELO – Jerry Joe “Yogi” Partain, 58, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his residence after a sudden illness. A Marshall County native, he was born July 20, 1954, to Walter Eugene and Oredale Davis Partain. For the last five months, he lived in Tupelo. His employment history included Tupelo Manufacturing, City Cab, Brook’s Cab and Liberty Cab Companies. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Fulton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Shane Ray officiating. Burial will be in Pratts Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Shirley Partain of Tupelo; two daughters, Patsy Lynn Partain Threadgill (James) of Bolder, Texas, and Connie Partain McPhilomy (Chuck) of Texas; one son, Joseph Partain of the home; two stepsisters, Sussie Ashe and Peggy Shaw, both of Potts Camp; four brothers, Walter Partain Jr. of Potts Camp, James Partain of Potts Camp, Billy Partain Sr. (Bab) of Saltillo and Jimmy Partain of Wesson; and four grandchildren, Christophere William Hollandinjer of Oxford, Casey Dekota Hatchett, Aaron Michaels McPhilomy and Charles Edward McPhilomy IV, all of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and his grandparents.
His friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Jessie Moore, 81, formerly of Potts Camp, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Bethesda Hospital-East in Boynton Beach, Fla.

ABERDEEN – Everett Jackson, 53, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Feb. 6, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Everett Jackson and Bertha Howard Jackson. He was a member of Daniel Baptist Church and a correctional officer. He enjoyed cooking for his family.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Aberdeen. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Loretta Jackson of Aberdeen; two sons, Rev. Everett Howard (Catrina) of Sugarland, Texas, and Pastor Maurice Howard of Aberdeen; two sisters, Carol Woods of Atlanta, Ga., and Joyce Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Jada, Jasmine, Kyra, Evan, Maurice and Riley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
