Bishop Harriett Crawford
AMORY – Bishop Harriett Ann Crawford, 96, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Home Place in Columbus. She was born in Monroe County on June 14, 1915, to Willie James Glenn and Cornelius Ann Agnew Glenn. On Nov. 26, 1924, she married Bishop George Crawford Jr. She completed school in Smithville and taught school for many years. In 1949 she and Bro. Crawford moved to St. Louis, Mo. She was employed by a hospital in St. Louis for many years. She accepted Jesus Christ and became an evangelist for Jesus Christ. In 1955 she and her husband returned to Mississippi to establish a church named Glenn’s Chapel Gospel Feast Pentecostal Church. In 1957, she and her husband went to Amory and established a church called Crawford’s Miracle Revival Center Gospel Feast Pentecostal Church. The church’s name changed in 1972 to Crawford’s Miracle Revival Fellowship Inc. Later she became the pastor and bishop of the church. She was a constant companion with her husband in ministry and was a blessing to many people. She was a mentor to all the children in the community and a mother to many. She served in the ministry for more than 70 plus years. She was truly a child of God and tried her best to lead others to Christ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose of Sharon Church in Amory with Elder Supt. Jessie L. Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope No. 1 Cemetery. Darden & Sons Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by a host of claimed daughters and sons, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Bishop George Crawford Jr.; two brothers, Andrew “Jack” Glenn and Willie Glenn Jr.; six sisters, Susie Bell Glenn Armstrong, Johnnie Mae Glenn Ford, Idora Glenn Clark, Katie Lee Glenn Steward, Annie Mae Glenn and Cree Glenn.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Rose of Sharon Church. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
Victoria Lucas
MEMPHIS – Victoria Jones Lucas, 93, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at her home in Memphis. She was formerly of Holly Springs.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Temple of Love CME Church in Memphis. Burial will be in the Chulahoma M.B. Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Memphis. The body will lie in repose at Temple of Love CME Church in Memphis from 11 to 11:55 a.m. Saturday.
Lillie Driver
HOLLY SPRINGS – Lillie Williams Driver, 93, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Trinity Missions Health and Rehab in Holly Springs.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at the church from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday.
James Gardner
HOUSTON – James Gardner, 98, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a member of Norton Spring C.M.E. Church. He enjoyed going to church, going out to eat with family and friends, visting the sick and shut-in, and loved being with his sister, Florena Buchanan.
His life celebration service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Houston Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Elisha Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Houston Cemetery. Grayson-Porter’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survided by his special cousin and caregiver, Ada Buchanan of Houston; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents,George and Anna Gardner; several brothers and sisters; and a special sister, Florena Buchanan.
Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the J.W. Porter Chapel. The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Bobby Joe Brinker
VERONA – Bobby Joe Brinker died Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Jackson. He was born Aug. 2, 1944, to Cleotis and Alma Brinker. He accepted God at an early age and joined Second Baptist Church in Verona.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Second Baptist Church with Bishop C.L. Parks officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include five children, Patsy Brinker of Shannon, Marie Morris (Roy Lee) of Pontotoc, Connie Sadler (Chris) of Guntown, Vanessa Spragin (Kurt) of Shannon and Bobby Joe Brinker Jr. (Markious) of Tupelo; one brother, Otis Brinker (Jan) of Tupelo; two sisters, Earnstine Brinker-Skinner and Dorothy Brinker-Logan, both of Verona; one brother-in-law, John Watkins; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Francis Watkins; two nieces, Debra Watkins and Michelle Brinker; two nephews, Anthony Brinker and Stacey Brinker; and one grandchild, Alexandria Venise Spragin.

John Green
MARIETTA – John Pope Green, 76, died at Baptist Hospital in Booneville. He was formerly of Saltillo. He was a retired employee of TPI and a carpenter. He was a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Euclatubba Baptist Church. He enjoyed making music and wood working.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Glover officiating. Burial will be in the Euclatubba Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Burress Green of Marietta; stepchildren, Wendy Page of Tupelo, Jennifer Kennedy of New Site, Janet Rice of Booneville and William Rice (J.J.) of New Site; 11 stepgrandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Julia Pope Green; sisters, Jean Belle Mabry and several others.

Daniel Collins
VERONA – Steward Daniel Collins died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born on Nov. 28, 1964, to Dan Collins Sr. and Edna Moore Collins in Tupelo. He accepted Christ at the age of 16 at Mount Pleasant M.B. Church in Tupelo. He later joined Unity Fellowship Church in Tupelo. He became an associate member of Victory Temple Outreach Church. He was employed at McCullough Steel Products Inc. for over 20 years. He was most recently employed at Kohl’s until the time of his illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Community Church in Tupelo with Bishop Milton A. Clark Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Heavens Gate Memorial Garden. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Edna (Donnie) Orr; two sons, Rebuen Collins and Deshon Collins; one daughter, Daniella Collins; two brothers, Dan (Mildred) Collins II and David (Dyane) Collins; one sister, Pamela (Willie) Sanders; a special friend, Betty Collins; and a host of uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Collins Sr.; and five other relatives.

Louise Taylor
TUPELO – Clara Louise Taylor, 68, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born in Pontotoc on April 18, 1944. She was raised in Pontocola and attended Shannon High School. She attended The Orchard. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and camping with friends and the Good Sams Club. She was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of the Antique Car Club.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Brian Collier and the Rev. Jimmy Stewart officiating.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Donnie Taylor; her children, Donna Awtrey (David) and Dede Franks (Bubba) of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Brooke and Tyler Awtrey, Taylor and Jordan Franks; two siblings, Lucille Easterling (Larry) of the Jugfork community and Robert Stegall (Gail) of West Point; special friends, Betty Ann, Linda Faye, Martha, Margie, Charlene, Wanda and Shelia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Kincade; and two brothers, Richard and Johnny Mask.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Brooks, Mike O’Barr, Kenny Langston, Rick Repsold, Clay Knight, Andy Manning, Tracy Neal and Anthony Parker.

Edwin Bagwell
BRUCE – Edwin Owen Bagwell, 84, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at his home. He was born June 10, 1927, in Marks. He attended Holmes Jr. College. He was a seaman 1st class in the U.S. Navy and a veteran of World War II. He was a member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, moderator and treasurer at Mt. Moriah Church. He was a farmer and a retired rural mail carrier. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Sawmill Coffee Shop.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. The Rev. Rex Wilburn will officiate, and the Rev. Wayne Cobb and the Rev. Joey Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Bruce.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Blount Bagwell of Bruce; two daughters, Cathy (Tony) Thompson of Starkville and Tamsie (Lee) Morris of Bruce; four grandchildren, Julie McCallum, Joseph Edwin Thompson, Sarah Morris and Emily Morris; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Wiley Guy Bagwell and Mary Adelle Collins Bagwell; a sister, Betty Jean Ferguson; a great-granddaughter, Kaylyn Lee Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Jon Ferguson, Lee Morris, Billy Fred Murphree, Henry Floyd Ramage, Larry Snellings and Tony Thompson.

John King
OXFORD – John Morgan King, 51, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at his home in Oxford. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, he was a longtime member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church. He was a retired history, government and economics teacher with the Oxford Middle School and Oxford High School. An avid Beatles fan and a gifted guitarist, he was an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and cherished the time he spent with his son.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Black and the Rev. Claire Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Amy McCary King of Oxford; his son, John Morgan King II of Oxford; his parents, Bill and Mary Ann King of Oxford; two sisters, Karen King Parker of Oxford and Kim King Collins of Camden, S.C.; one brother, James King of Oxford; two aunts, Ruth King and Linda King; four nephews and one niece.

RIPLEY – John Wayne Wilbanks, 68, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Nov. 25, 1943, to Henry Clifford Wilbanks and Johnnie Keyron Martin Wilbanks. He was a member of Assembly of God Church. He loved to play guitar with the Servants Quartet and played at church. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He retired from Fred’s in sales.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Paseur officiating. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Groscurth Wilbanks of Ripley; two daughters, Keyron Christine Wilbanks of Ripley and Melody Marie Wilbanks of Corinth; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Billy Gene Wilbanks of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

CORINTH – Claudie Cecil Wooten, 71, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a member of Butler’s Chapel Baptist Church and was farmer who enjoyed gardening and attending to his farm animals.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Corinth with Dr. Leonard Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Chewalla, Tenn.
He is survived by his companion of 30 years, Bonnie Howell of Corinth; a son, Allen Wooten (Paula); a daughter, Teresa Mauney (Tom); stepsons, Danny Spencer (Angie), Roger Spencer (Mandy); stepdaughter, Jessica Walker (Marcus), all of Corinth; sisters, Anice Hutcheson (John) and Avis Reed all of Chewalla, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Bud Derryberry of Southaven; the mother of his children, Peggy Wooten of Corinth; four grandchildren, Corey Johnson, Justin Glissen, Elgin Harris and Eljah Harris,; nine stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, Cobey Parvin.

PONTOTOC – Preston Cherry Jr., 51, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born March 19, 1941, in Pontotoc to T.W. Cherry and Jessie Mae Spraggin Cherry. He was a member of Prairie Mount United Methodist Church in Okolona. He attended Okolona Public Schools. He loved sports and his family.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Salem M.B. Church in Pontotoc. The Rev. Donnell Cherry will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cememtery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his fiancampée, Audrey Daniel of Tupelo; one son, Cortez Terrell Cherry of Okolona; three sisters, Jenny (James) Patton of Tupelo, Dorothy Thomas and Lisa Lindsey, both of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, Travis (Roshonda) White of Dorsey, Bobby Joe Cherry of Okolona, Roy (Tawana) Hunt of Suwanee, Ga., and Charles (Mindy) Hosley; and three grandchildren.

WALNUT – Shirley Juanita Boyd Jackson, 73, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at her home. She was born June 8, 1938, to Chester and Annie Hugh Hudson Boyd in Tippah County. She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She had been a Baptist for 56 years.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church in Walnut with Bro. Brian Tatum and Bro. Randy Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Holmes (Randy) of Caledonia, Andrea Jackson and Amanda Jackson, both of Walnut; one son, Joey Jackson (Diane) of Walnut; three sisters, Janie Matthews and Linda Gatlin, both of Walnut, and Carolyn Hargis of Huntsville, Ala.; five grandchildren, Jody Jackson (Sissy) and Jonathan Jackson (Jess), both of Walnut, April Armstrong (Taylor) of Starkville, Joe Holmes (Samantha) of Caledonia and Mandy Watkins of Walnut; seven great-grandchidlren, Hannah and AJ Watkins, Emma Alsup, Marie Jackson, and Allie, Addie and Ana Holmes.

NEW ALBANY – Judith “Judi” Shelton Presley, 63, formerly of Ripley, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at her home. She was born Jan. 15, 1949, to Clyde Miller and Charlsie Marion Walker Shelton in Ripley. She was a cover buyer for the furniture industry and a member of New Hope Methodist Church.

Joy Nabors
NEW ALBANY – Joy Stockett Nabors, 78, wife of the Rev. L. Leslie Nabors, Jr., died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Dogwood Plantation Assisted Living in New Albany. She was born July 2, 1933, to John Lewis “Jack” Stockett Sr. and Martha Stillions Stockett in Clarksdale. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany, where her husband was pastor from 1995 to 1998 before his retirement. In previous years she enjoyed playing golf and other games with her friends who were very dear to her.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in New Albany with the Rev. Barry Male Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Lisa Howie, and her son, Alan Millis (Molly), both of Houston, Texas; her stepdaughters, Debbie Wright of Coldwater, Terrie Tankesly (Buddy) of Hernando and Vickie Reissig (Cloyce) of Greers Ferry, Ark.; her sister, Jean Rosatti of Clarksdale; her sister-in-law, Delores Stockett of Pinebluff, Ark.; her grandchildren, Amanda Millis, Katherine Howie, Claire Howie, Juliana Millis, Addison Millis and Dalton Millis; her stepgrandchildren, Jessica Haines (Jeremy) and Trey Hanks (Katie); and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Jackson, Jenna Claire and Josiah Haines, and Isabella, Claire and Olivia Hanks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Polly Meacham Stockett; her brother, Jack Stockett Jr.; and her son, Bob Millis.
Pallbearers will be members of the Hugh Clayton Sunday School Class.

RIPLEY – Edna Gayle Franklin Garner, 73, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Liberty, Ky., to Ruel and Lorene Fights Franklin. She was a homemaker and a member of Ripley Church of Christ.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Minister Donnie DeBord and Minister Sam Garner officiating. Burial will be in Jacobs Chapel Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Garner of Ripley; one daughter, Regina Morton (Billy) of Ripley; one son, Al Garner (Sharen) of brandon; four grandchildren, Sam Garner (Rachel) of Windsort, Conn., Amy Murphy (Ryan) of Searcy, Ark., Devin and Dana Morton of Ripley; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Liam Murphy; her stepmother, Jessie Franklin of Liberty, Ky.; one stepsister, Margarite Floyd of Lexington, Ky.; a special friend, Wanda Orman of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be David Cook, Benny Wallis, Barry Grisham, Tony McBryde, Rodney McBryde and Jeff Willingham.
