Michael Johnson
ALTITUDE – Eber Michael Johnson Jr., 52, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Blakeney officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will continue until service time today at the funeral home.

Kenneth Hall
NEW ALBANY – Kenneth M. Hall, 74, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by United Funeral Service.
Mickey D. Dawson
BOONEVILLE – Mickey D. Dawson, 56, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a long illness. He was a former employee of Hall’s Printing and a Methodist. He enjoyed car models and working on his truck.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Robert McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the Asbury Cemetery.
Survivors include a brother, Donnie Dawson (Brenda); a sister, Ruby Moore (Ronnie) of Baldwyn; two godchildren, Michael Tullis and Ashley Tullis of Corinth; special friends and caregivers, Ann Ward and June Boothe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Dawson.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Vick, Charles Cooper, Dennis Copeland, Johnny Tullis and James Boothe. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnis Outlaw and Dewayne Tullis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Red Carnathan
SOMERVILLE, Tenn. – Clovis Victor “Red” Carnathan, 82, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Germantown Methodist Hospital. He was a native of Lee County and a resident of Tupelo before moving to Tennessee a number of years ago. He was the owner and operator of Red’s Auto Service Station in Memphis for more than 40 years before his retirement. Devoted to his family and a Christian, he enjoyed fishing and music.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland, Tenn. The Rev. Jim Debardeleben will officiate. Burial will be in Chambers Chapel Cemetery. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Carnathan; one daughter, Debbie Betz of Arlington, Tenn.; two sons, Eddie Carnathan of Hickory Withe, Tenn., and Vick Carnathan of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Billie Jean Canada of Ashland, Ky.; one brother, Armstrong J. Carnathan of Memphis; and eight grandchildren.

Lorenzo Jefferson
WEST POINT – Lorenzo Curtis Jefferson, 28, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in Corinth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel in West Point. Burial will follow in Yeates Cemetery in West Point.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Earl Killough
RIENZI – Earl E. Killough, 87, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Mississippi Care Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth. Burial will be in Holly Cemetery.
Betty Rhodes
MEMPHIS – Betty Williams Rhodes, 71, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She was born Dec. 2, 1937, to Mattie Lee Caldwell Williams and the late Boyd Anderson Williams. She graduated from Sherman High School and Memphis State University. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Locust Hill Baptist Church in Sherman. Memphis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Mattie Lee Williams of Sherman; two sons, Michael D. Rhodes (Julia) and Scott D. Rhodes of Memphis; one daughter, Shelia Kogler (Jim) of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Andy Kogler and Kristin Kogler of Mt. Pleasant, and Matthew D. Rhodes of Memphis; one great-granddaughter, Andrea Ables of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Williams Waguespack of Sherman and Maureen Lawrence of Winfield, Ala.; nephews, Bill Williams of Saltillo, Doug Lawrence of Columbus, Jeff Lawrence and David Lawrence of Winfield, Ala.; a niece, Nancy Coleman of Columbus; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mid-America Seminary or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Jessie Foster
HAMILTON – Jessie Ray Foster, 67, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at his home in Hamilton. He was born June 18, 1941, in Amory to Jessie R. Foster and Mildred Lawrence Hendrix. He lived in Hamilton for the past 50 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam. He retired as a supervisor from ITT Bell & Gossett in Morton Grove, Ill.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Jessie Betts and Bro. Tony Rooks officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fay Cook Foster of Hamilton; three daughters, Arlene Hissong of Amory, Tammy Blakeney (Eddie) of Houston and Tina Smith (James) of Hamilton; one son, Chris Foster of Hamilton; one brother, Earnest Hendrix of Nettleton; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sandy Ray Foster.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Yarbrough, Jamie Smith, Chris Foster, Josh Blakeney, Blake Hissong and Michael Dobbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Oneil Lochridge, Robert Cooper, James Smith, Eddie Blakeney, Zach Evans and James Petty.

Danny Brazil
MT. VERNON – Daniel Hugh “Danny” Brazil, 59, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his residence in the Mt. Vernon community. A Lee County native, he was born Sept. 2, 1949, to Robert Edwin and Alma Edna Wilson Brazil. He graduated from Belden High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam, which caused him to later become 100 percent disabled. He also worked for the Tupelo Fire Department. He was a member of Chesterville Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Joe Lusby and the Rev. Dave Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Chesterville Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Brazil; one brother, Charles Edwin Brazil; and one nephew, Robbie Brazil, all of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edwin Brazil; a brother, Curtis Brazil; a niece Shealie Brazil; and a nephew, Joel Curtis Brazil.
Pallbearers will be Danny Raper, Jim Cheek, Gerald McDaniel, Douglas Johnson, Jim Lusby and Mike Holcomb.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Quay Byram
DENNIS – Quay Flurry Byram, 80, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born June 28, 1928, in Dennis to Richard Erskin and Ethel Irene Melton Flurry. She was a factory worker and an employee of Sparks Drive-Inn for many years. She was a member of Dennis United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Dustin Smith and Bro. Earl McAnally officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in Dennis,
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Wigginton of Dennis (special friend, Johnny); one son, Mike Byram of Dennis (special friend, Tammy); three sisters, Mildred Culp and Hilda Johnson of Dennis, and Jean Garrett of Tuscumbia, Ala.; two brothers, Paul Flurry of Booneville and Joe Flurry of Savannah, Ga.; five grandchildren, Lee Pounds, Christi Pierce (Craig) and Kerry Pounds (Jennifer), all of Dennis, Misty Byram of Red Bay, Ala., and Christy Harrell (Randy), of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin Smith (Cilia) of Horton, Ala., Tyler Smith, Laken Pounds, Brodi Pounds and Dustin Farris, all of Dennis, and Nicole Harrell, Gracie Harrell and Hannah Harrell, all of Tuscaloosa; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter C. Byram; her parents; one sister, Opal Tidwell; and two brothers, Freed Flurry and Reece Flurry.
Pallbearers will be Lee Pounds, Kerry Pounds, Tyler Smith, Craig Pierce, Scott Caldwell and Jim Byram. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Farris and Brodi Pounds.
Visitation will continue until service time today.

Etherlene Bell
BOONEVILLE – Etherlene Bell, 84, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wolf Creek M.B. Church in Booneville with the Rev. L.A. Springfield officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Corinth. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Booneville is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today with the family hour from 5 to 6 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.

Carl Gray
BURNSVILLE – Carl “C.W.” Gray, 66, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a member of Rowland Mills Baptist Church and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday, May 19, at the Rowland Mills Baptist Church with Bro. Edward Stacy and Bro. James Garrett officiating. Burial was in the Rowland Mills Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gray of Burnsville; one son, Jerry Gray (Bridget) of Iuka; three daughters, Carolyn Wilmeth (Richie), Carrie McRae (Nicky) and Angie Gray, all of Burnsville; five grandchildren, Tanner Wilmeth, Ashleigh McRae, Makenzie Gray, Jackson Gray and Jason McRae (Kristen); and a sister, Eula Rhodes (Virgil) of Burnsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anison and Freda Gray.
Pallbearers were Jackie Hamm, Donnie Calton, William Hall, Ronnie Potts, Delbert Walters and Robert Farr.
