Betsy Reedy
DUCK HILL – Betsy Louise Beckham Reedy, 51, died Friday, May 24, 2013, in an automobile accident on Hwy. 404 near Duck Hill. She was born April 20, 1962, in Houston to Charles Beckham and Mildred Louise Box Beckham. She was a homemaker and a member of Elliott Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David Reedy of Duck Hill; two stepsons, David Reedy Jr. and Jeremy Reedy; her mother, Mildred Beckham of Calhoun City; one sister, Emily (Richmond) Hubbard of Calhoun City; two brothers, James (Joann) Beckham of Laurel and Charles (Roxann) Beckham St. of Joseph, Mo.; five nieces and eight nephews; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Beckham.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City. Bro. Cecil Fayard will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Bell, Brian Harrison, Tyler Jackson, Clay Springer, Ralph Wagner and Michael Harrison.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Pryor Funeral Home.

Gladys Hill
BOONEVILLE – Gladys May Downs Hill, 99, of the Meadow Creek Community died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Landmark Nursing and Rehab. She was born June 29, 1913, to John and Millie Downs. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. C.D. Edge and Bro. Johnny Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Creek Methodist Cemetery.
Survivors are three daughters, Maxine (Bill) Boozer of Northport, Ala., Ruby Harris of Laguna Nigel, CL, and Debbie (Kenneth) Bishop; two sons, Forest (Ann) Hill of Olive Branch and Nelson (Mildred) Hill of Saltillo; one brother, Milton Downs of Booneville; 13 grandchildren, Tanya and Cammie Bishop, Paul, David, Keith and Jason Hill, Shawn and Juanna Boozer, Kelly and Brad Harris, Frank Roberts, Deanna Dillard and Pam Simmons; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jackson Hill; an infant daughter; her parents; three sisters, Lucy Harris, Hattie Nichols and Lemar Herring; an infant sister; and three brothers, “Buddy” Franklin, Feliz “Pete” and C.R. Downs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Sunday at McMillan Funeral Home.

Teddy Corkern
JUMPERTOWN – Teddy Corkern, 53, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a sudden illness. He was a member of Lambs Chapel Independent Church. He was a former employee of Heartland Manufacturing. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and helping others. He loved his grandchildren and his dogs.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lambs Chapel Independent Church with Bro. Mike Morrison, Bro. Dewayne Morgan, Bro. Gene Cartharp and Bro. Randy Estes officiating. Kesler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Corkern of Jumpertown; two daughters, Cherie Stuart (Chad) and Christy Corkern, both of Jumpertown; one son, Cary Corkern of Jumpertown; six grandchildren, Lindsey Patton, Shannah and Shaun Stuart, Kelsi, Mackenzie and Katie Corkern; four brothers and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Robinson; one grandson, Shane Stuart; and his father-in-law, James McDowell.

John Hudson
OXFORD – John Lyle Hudson, 72, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Union Church of the Nazarene in Thaxton. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at the church.

Reba Morris
AMORY – Reba Martin Morris, 82, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Fulton to Henry E. and Delia Hall Martin. She retired after 30 years of service as an inspector for Reed’s Manufacturing. She was a member of Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory. She was an avid fisherman. She loved her grandkids and the time she spent with them, and she enjoyed the time she spent with her puppy, Little Bit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Stanley Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery in Nettleton.
Survivors include her children, James Larry Morris (Rita) of Aberdeen, Jimmy Dale Morris (Margie) of Mooreville, Melissa “Lisa” Dodd (Richard) of Amory and Linda Mallory (Gerald) of Shannon; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Betty Faye Saxton of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pruitt Morris; one great-grandchild, Steven Christopher Ray.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Andrew Dodd, William Keller, Aaron Pearson, Tommy Morris, Josh Hester and Matthew Null.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Earlie Terry
NETTLETON – Earlie Leslie Terry, 74, died on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born July 28, 1938, in Houston, he was a son of the late James Alvin and Maggie Bell Jackson Terry. He married Patsy Cooper. Before his retirement, he was a self-employed upholsterer. A loving father and grandfather, he cherished the time spent with his family. His hobbies included fishing and watching westerns on television.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. today at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. James Terry officiating. Burial will be in the New Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Long (Andy) of Shannon; one son, Rickey Terry (Linda) of Nettleton; two brothers, Earvin Terry of Nettleton and Winford Terry (Cathy) of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, April Terry, Christopher Terry, Richard Terry and Dana Long Plunkett; four great-grandchildren, Madison Terry, Ryanna Terry, Claire Grace Terry and Gunner Plunkett; numerous nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, April Terry, Lauren Terry, and Cindy and Andy Long.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy Cooper Terry; one son, David Terry; grandson, Hayden Allen Terry; four brothers, Manuel Terry, Thomas Edward Terry, Earnest Terry and Jack Cannon; and five sisters, Christine Carroll, Leona Blansett, Ollie Ruth Blansett, Lillie Foster and Grace Terry.
Pallbearers will be Richard Terry, Christopher Terry, Darrell Barnes, Perry Mauney, Winford Terry Jr., Steven Terry and Danny Joe Terry.

Johnie West
AMORY – Johnie Sugg West passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at her home in Amory. She was born on the Sugg Farm in Monroe County, the daughter of the late John David and Ettie Jane Parham Sugg. She married Carl Edward West in 1962. She graduated from Hatley High School and attended Itawamba Junior College in Fulton. She worked at Amory Garment in the computer department for several years and later at Security Bank, from which she retired. Her co-workers and many customers remember her sweet smile and kind words. She was a member of the Amory Church of Christ. She enjoyed the beauty of nature, and enjoyed many walks in the forests and woodlands, camping, and just sitting quietly in her beautiful back yard or at her cabin in the woods. She also had a great love of the ocean, and was never happier than when strolling along the beach collecting seashells.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Amory Church of Christ with Ministers James Wyers and Derrick Maranto officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Jana West of Firestone, Colo.; one son, Tim West (Jennifer) of Senatobia; six grandchildren, James (Jay), Katie, Taylor and Shane West and Kristen and Justin Gray; her sister, Joye Sugg Hester of Amory, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son Jim Gray; brother, Haldon Sugg; and five sisters, Carolyn Sugg, Mary Nell Sugg, Ethel Gray, Ruth Westbrook and Josephine Davis.
Pallbearers will be John Tucker, Randy Gray, David Gray, Randall Gray, Larry Gray, Richard Cagle, Jay West, Taylor West and Shane West. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Dickerson, Jimmy Vaughn and Jimmy Sullivan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at the church building from 1 p.m. until service time sunday.

Mazel Scott
DENNIS – Mazel Scott, 89, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Tennessee. She was a housewife. She attended Tishomingo Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Robbie Crane officiating. Burial will be in Harmontown Baptist Church Cemetery at Como. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are one son, Bobby Scott (Charlotte) of Dennis; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Hazel E. Spinola of Memphis; one brother, Harry Butler (Etheline) of Memphis; and a sister-in-law, Sue Butler of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor R. Scott; a son, Victor L. Scott; a grandson, Ryan Scott; and a brother, Frank Butler.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont.

William Hudspeth
ASHLAND – William Oliver Hudspeth, 84, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Grenada Living Center in Grenada. He was born May 15, 1929, in Hickory Flat. He was a member of Ashland Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a master carpenter, and a member of Carpenters Local 345.
Graveside services for family only will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ashland Cemetery. The Rev. William Kemp will officiate. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, W.R. Hudspeth of Ashland and Marc Hill (Brittany) of Oakland; three daughters, Kitty Hill (Tommy) of Tillatoba, Leigh Norris (Daniel) of Abbeville and Emy Hill (Will) of Oakland; one brother, Frank Hudspeth of Magnolia, Texas; two sisters, Mary Laverne McDaniel of Memphis and Corrinne Morrow of Savannah, Tenn.; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobilu Simpson Hudspeth; and his parents, Clyde Franklin Hudspeth and Bessie Lee Edward Hudspeth.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

ANDALUSIA, Ala. – Richard Lawrence Owen, 67, formerly of New Albany, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today at Foreman Brown Service Funeral Home in Andalusia, Ala. Bro. Brent Cook and Bro. Alan Joyner will officiate. A graveside service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in New Albany.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Louise Owen; two daughters, Shay Lorance Owen and Hope Louise Owen; a son, Hunter Richard (Heather) Owen; three grandchildren, Jackson Richard Owen, Addison Grace Owen and Karson Louise Owen; one brother, Johnny (Wonda) Owen of New Albany; two sisters, Sandra (Charlie) Williamson of Tupelo and Joe Ann (Charles) Reaves of Rogers, Ark.; numerous nieces and nephews.
