AMORY – Richard E. Rittenhouse, 68, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Monterey Park, Calif., to Ralph Rittenhouse and Jean Stanbury Rittenhouse. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He attended Chaffey Community College, earning an associate Degree in real estate. He later worked many years as a real estate broker before his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, watching drag racing and football. He especially loved skating with his children and worked tirelessly to ensure they were able to participate in the skating league.
There will be no local service. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his son, Richard Roy Rittenhouse Sr. (Samantha) of Amory; his daughters: Leanna Owings (Phillip) of Amory and Theresa Ellis (Ben) of New Jersey; two brothers: Ralph Rittenhouse (Ann), Roger Rittenhouse (Jackie) and Don Fisher, all of California; a sister: Carol Crose (Peter) of Washington; nine grandchildren: R.J. and Ryan Rittenhouse, Kelly Allred, Briana Maury, Laura Bogan, Michael Bedwell, Brittany Crenshaw, and Anna Laura and Marli Owings; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Odelia Rittenhouse (who raised him and he affectionately called Mom); and two brothers: Russell and Ray Rittenhouse.

PHEBA – Jesse Wayne Peay, 55, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Baylor Cancer Center in Dallas, Texas. He was born March 17, 1957, in Maben, to Hilda Cloteal Fulgham Peay and Jesse Aubrey Peay. He was a diesel mechanic at Bryan Foods and Thompson Machinery, then in his own personal truck shop two years.
He was a member of Pheba Baptist Church. He married Theresa Lynn White on Jan. 30, 1993, in Clay County. He was a hard working, helpful and honest man who loved to talk endlessly about his horses. He was a good role model and his sons called him their hero.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Pheba Cemetery at Pheba. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa White Peay of Pheba; his son, Christopher Wayne Peay (Geidy) of Grand Prairie, Texas; two stepsons, Bruce Edwin Peay (Nicole) of Pheba and Charles Aaron Peay (Crissy) of Starkville; three grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; his parents, Jesse Aubrey and Hilda Fulgham Peay of Cary; his sisters, Janet Holmes of Utica, Robbie Duncan (Dave) of Myersville; his brothers, Mike Peay (Gail) of Big Sandy, Tenn., Tony Peay of Cary.
His son, Dustin Wade Peay, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Strickland, Mark Vaughn, Sonny Sizemore, Doug Abrams, J.R. Hillhouse and Otis McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Wayne Peay, Bruce Edwin Peay, Charles Aaron Peay, Jimmy McKee and William McKee.

ECRU – Michael Scott “Scottie” Greenwood, 43, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church. He was a volunteer firefighter for Ecru Fire Department. He loved to fish and spend time with his family.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Buchanan Baptist Church. Bro. David Westmoreland will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Roberson Greenwood; two sons, Michael Greenwood and Jackie Darrell “J.D.” Greenwood; one sister, Connie Collins (Athen); nieces, Shasta and Haley Walls; nephew, Brady Collins; mother, Mary Fay Greenwood; father, Jackie and Ruby Greenwood; one stepdaughter, Catherine Pickens Michael.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary Williard and Lamon Williard; an uncle, Lamar Williard; and grandparents, William Holder and Nellie Carnard Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Michael Greenwood, Mark Greenwood, Mark Voyles, Lee Holbrook, Kenny Knight, Jason Stevens and John Michael.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Ferguson and Mark Bridges.
Visitation will be at the church from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

HOUSTON – Walter Smith, 80, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.
BRUCE – Zenoba Collins Ward, 92, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Calhoun County Medical Center. A Calhoun County native, she was born Aug. 14, 1919, to Hervey and Mary Ada Collins. She was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one nephew, Jim Collins (Carolyn); two great-nieces, Amanda Vanlandingham (Jay) and their two children, Trey and Dani Caroline, all of Bruce and Debbie Plumlee (Chris) and their family of Olive Branch; great-nephew, Jason Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald J.; two brothers, J.C. and Rube Collins; nephew, Jerry Collins; and great-nephew, Danny Collins.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home.

James M. Hamilton
ATHENS, Ala. – James Milton Hamilton, 72, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. Born Sept. 14, 1939, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Troy M. and Erbie Mae Ausborn Hamilton. A 1957 graduate of Hatley High School, he was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Athens. Before his retirement he had been employed by the Marita Bread Co., Golden Flake and Piggly Wiggly. His hobbies included music and trading in antiques.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Tillman (Larry, II) of Powder Springs, Ga., and Lori Ann Countryman (Ricky) of Douglasville, Ga.; two sons, Michael Kevin Hamilton of Laurel and James Milton “Jamie” Hamilton Jr. of Auburn, Ala.; one brother, Elmer L. Hamilton (Beverly) of Amory; brother-in-law, Wendell Weaver of Mantachie; seven grandchildren, Amber, Megan, Brandy, Ashley, Larry III, Phillip and Katrina; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents and by one sister, Murial Weaver.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue until service time on Wednesday.
