Corene McCluskey
CALHOUN CITY – Corene McCluskey, 91, died May 30, 2010, at Calhoun Health Services Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City with Bro. Jim Vance officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Bryant (Wanda Rose) McCluskey Jr. of Vardaman and Charles Wayne McCluskey of Calhoun City; her grandchildren, Craig McCluskey and Michelle Brasher; her great-grandchildren, Tyler McCluskey, Avery McCluskey, Robert Lee Brasher and Nathan Brasher; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Shaw McCluskey Sr.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

David Wimberly
OXFORD – David Wimberly, age 41, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at his home in Waterford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

AMORY – Margie Young, 88, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at her home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory.
Duncan Reed
RIPLEY – James Duncan Reed, 19, May 29, 2010, in Waynesboro, Tenn. as the result of an accident. He was employed with Shirley’s Restaurant and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Ripley with Dr. Albert Wilkerson and Bro. Steve Cohea officiating. Burial will be in Palmer Cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, John and Angie Harrison Reed of Ripley; one brother, Austin Reed of Ripley; and his grandparents, Sandra Bolton (Lee) of Batesville, James Harrison (Louise) of Falkner, Shirley Reed and Charles Reed (Nell), both of Ripley.
Pallbearers will be Scott Stubbs, Christian Reed, Jimmy Muse, Patrick Muse, Jase Wilbanks, Zach Wilbanks, Andy Hodges, Greg Thomas and Dylan Morton.

Mary Jo Baird
HOUSTON – Mary Jo Gann Baird, 67, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born June 8, 1942, in Houston to Bobby Lee Gann and Gola Gertrude Criddle Gann. She was an accountant with the Pounds C.P.A. Firm and a member of Houston First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Houston First Baptist Church in Houston with Dr. Daniel Heeringa officiating. Burial will be in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Baird of Houston; her mother, Gertrude Criddle Gann of Houston; her sons, Lee (Helen) Baird of Columbia, S.C. and Rev. Gene (Denise) Baird of Melbourne, Ark.; her sister, Barbara (Don) McKibben of Algoma; and her brothers, William F. (Mavis) Gann of Houston, Hubert (Monette) Gann of Vardaman and Bobby Lewis (Barbara) Gann of Starkville.
She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Kathleen Baird, Derek Baird, Kristin Baird, Kelsey Baird, Cliff Baird, Lorraine Baird and Erin Baird; and one great-grandson, Joey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Lee Gann; her sister, Mavis Helen Bell; her brother, Walter Evans Gann; and her son, Timothy Joe Baird
Pallbearers will be Michael Gann, Glenn Gann, John Gann, Dennis Baird, Keith Baird and Wes Baird.

James Young
WEST POINT – James L. “Bud” Young, 84, died May 29, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born June 21, 1925, in Clay County to Margaret Annie Joyner and Jessie James Young. He was a Construction Superintendent and a Locksmith. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Brother William E. “Buck” Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery in Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, James M. Young (Rita) of West Point; two grandsons, Stephen and Jessie Young, both of West Point; two sisters, Mary Emma Houser of Cedar Bluff and Elaine Merchant of West Point; and one brother, Gailon Young (Maudie) of West Point.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Ann Fulgham and Inez Williams.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Young, Jessie Young, Steve Woolbright, Jerry Bowen, Durwood Ware and Robert Harrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be nurses and staff of Waverly Care Home.

Ova Lee Hicks
BELMONT – Ova Lee Hicks, 84, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at A.G. Rhodes at Wesley Woods Nursing Home in Atlanta. She was born June 3, 1925, in Belmont. She was the daughter of Robert L. Wood and Olivia Underwood Wood. She was a bookkeeper for Allen Hardware in Belmont and Leo G. Lozin Accounting Firm in Aurora, Ill. After retiring, she continued bookkeeping and income tax preparation from her home up until the time of her illness. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Belmont where she taught the ladies Sunday school class for over 20 years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Ray Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her three children, Anna Gray (James) of Nashville, Rhonda Van Voorhies (James) of The Villages, Fla. and William Hicks (Kelly) of Cary, N.C.; six grandchildren, James Gray of Perry, Ga., Leeanna Brandt and Chris Tidwell of Durham, N.C., Adam Tidwell of The Villages, Fla. and Aubrey and Dylan Hicks of Cary, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, James and Lucy Gray of Perry, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James C. Wood; and her husband, Aubrey D. Hicks.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Eula Bell Bridger
WEST POINT – Eula Bell Bridger, 89, died May 29, 2010, at her home in West Point. She was born April 23, 1921, in Monroe County to Mary Jane Fowler and Monroe Barnes. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Una. She married Joe Allen Bridger on December 24, 1940, in Una; he passed away on May 9, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Lampkin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Prairie. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Smothers (Larry) of West Point and Sue Wilson (Paul) of Columbus; one son, Noel Bridger of Prairie; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Barry and John William Bridger; one daughter, Lois Brand; one grandson, James Allen Brand; eight sisters, Raine Poss, Vera Poss, Millie Callahan, Birdie Smitherman, Ruby Baker, Maudie Jackson, Cora Jackson and Beulah Barnes; and four brothers, J.C. Barnes, Cager Barnes, Buster Barnes and Austin Barnes.
Pallbearers will be Kirk Smothers, Allen Wilson, Christopher Coggins, Joseph Wilson, Jake Hollingsworth, Travis Kyle “T.K.” Hollingsworth, Edward Wilson, Tyler Moore and Hunter Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Edmund A. Miller Jr. and the nurses and staff of the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eloise Vivian Pitts
Eloise Vivian Pitts, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center with her daughters by her side. Eloise was born on October 22, 1927, in Prattville, Alabama to the late Johnny and Bertha (Farmer) Garnett. After her first husband passed, she married Charles Pitts and moved to Waukegan, Illinois where she made her home for many years. Eloise retired from Abbott Laboratories where she was a supervisor.
After her retirement, she and Charles moved back South to Fulton, Mississippi and attended Lonestar Baptist Church in Tremont, Mississippi. After Charles passed, Eloise moved back to Springfield to be near her daughters and attended Grace Lutheran Church. Her daughters feel so blessed to have had her near them for the last seven years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Howard Harmon; her second husband, Charles Pitts; her son, Thomas Howard Harmon; and brothers, Jack Garnett, J.B. Garnett and Kenneth Garnett.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Kay and Steven Archbold and Vicki and Guerry Housman; her sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Timothy Pitts and Jeffery and Beatrice Pitts; and her sister and brother-in-law, Dale and Charles Eppinger.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cherie Madder, Stephanie Japs, Ryan Houseman, Meghan Jones, Kirsten Boxx, Jared Houseman, Justin Houseman, Jordan Houseman, Brady Houseman, Cody Houseman, Joselyn Pitts, Cheyenne Pitts, Andrew Pitts and Robert Wodiack; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. til 3:00 p.m. at Senter Funeral Home with services following at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jackie Wilson and Bro. Gilley Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Garden.
