TUPELO – Bernice “Bennie” Johnson, 101, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with burial at Shannon Cemetery.
Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Tupelo Chapel.

Nolean Faulkner III
MYRTLE – Nolean Steele Faulkner III, 37, died Saturday, May 5, 2012. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Holly Springs Funeral Home.
Robbie Gann
TUPELO – Robbie Haskell Gann, 90, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at her residence. She was born on Aug. 31, 1921, in Hamilton, Ala., to Elbert Stephen Belk and Lucinda Johnson Belk. She was a former long-time member of East Heights Baptist Church and a current member of South Green Baptist Church. She was a loving mother of six children.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Blake McCain and the Rev. Ricky Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include six children, Robert Gann (Martha Jo), Steve Gann (Margaret), Perry Gann (Faye), Phil Gann (Debbie), Cindy Vaughn and Sherry Perkins (Mike); nine grandchildren, Heather Smith, Stephenie Lebel (Michel), Marsha Phillips (Roy), Jason Gann, Chad Vaughn, Megan Vaughn, Angela, Holly and Jessica Shook; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Lou Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, Robert N. “Bob” Gann; her parents; and three brothers, Kelly Gene Belk, Elbert Marion Belk and Leroy E. Belk Sr.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Belk Jr., Steve Thrasher, Jim Garrison, Jim Martin, Ralph Lacks and R.P. Owings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Phil Jones and Dr. Daryl Schroader.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nancey Gideon
OLD FORT, N.C. – Nancey Karen Landess Gideon, 75, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at her home in Old Fort, N.C. She was born April 12, 1937, in West Point to Vaudine Mae Sanders Landess and the late Foster Landess. She was employed with Monkees in Blowing Rock, N.C. She enjoyed life, had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Her grandchildren brought her great joy. She married William C. Gideon on June 11, 1989.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery West Point.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, William C. Gideon of Old Fort, N.C.; daughter, Stephanie Brooks (David) and their children, Caelan and Caroline Brooks of Plano, Texas; her son, Steven Williams (Pam) and their daughter, Brooke Williams of Brookhaven; stepson, Randy Gideon (Martha) and their children Scott, Billy and Max of Florence, S.C.; stepdaughters, Mimi Gideon and Suzanne Hall and her children, Sean and Taylor, all of Orange Park, Fla.; her mother; one sister, Carol Lynn Flanagan of Jackson; and two brothers, Dr. Elmer Willis Landess (Betsy) of Clarksdale and Joe Landess (Eva) of Ooltewah, Tenn.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11a.m. Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point.

Wayne Kennedy
CORINTH – Wayne Kennedy, 63, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, in Corinth. He was born Jan. 26, 1949, in Ramer, Tenn., to Merle Baker and the late Pete Kennedy. He was united in marriage to Ava Marie McNew on June 17, 1980. He was a 1967 graduate of Ramer High School. After graduation, he attended West Tennessee Business College in Jackson. He was a crankshaft grinder for Catapillar Inc. in Corinth where he worked for 17 years. He was a member of the Cypress Tank Church of Christ.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tenn., with Jackie Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Hill Memorial Gardens at Bethel Springs, Tenn
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Robertson (Kerry Lane) of Ripley; a son, Jason Kennedy (Stacy) of Ramer, Tenn.; his mother, Merle Kennedy of Corinth; four grandchildren, Katie Latch (Jeremy), Josh Robertson, Shayne Fowler and Shelby Kennedy; a great-grandchild, Noah Latch; a brother, Bill Kennedy (Judy) of Corinth; special friend, Leila Erwin of Selmer, Tenn.; his former wife and the mother of his children, Dinah Leach of Plantersville; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Marie McNew; his father; and brother, Pete Kennedy Jr.
Pallbearers will be Josh Robertson, Shayne Fowler, Jeremy Latch, Brandon Kennedy, Stan Kennedy and Chuck Kirk. Noah Latch will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Johnny Turman
COLUMBUS – Johnny Louise Turman, 85, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born June 23, 1926, to Clayton W. Smith and Bessie Allday Smith in Coffeeville, Ala. She lived in the Columbus area for the last 26 years of her life and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Center Hill Cemetery in Hamilton with Jimmy Turman officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by one sister, Bobbie Waters (John Henry) of Copperhill, Tenn.; three stepchildren, Tony Turman of Jackson, Terry Turman of Maryville, Tenn., and Celeste Turman Graves of Senatobia; several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Turman (Janet) of Starkville; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Moffett (Donnie Ray) of Becker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Stewart McKay Turman; two sisters, Margie Gifford and Syble Kemmer; and two brothers, Benton Smith and Jack Smith.

Betty Phillips
AMORY – Betty Jane West Phillips, 77, died on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born March 6, 1935, in Monroe County, to Gwendolyn Louise Boyd and Roy Clifton West. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Mac Phillips, on Aug. 14, 1954. She was a graduate of Becker High School, Class of 1954. She was passionate about giving her help and time to anyone in need. She was employed in the garment industry for many years and was a caregiver to her mother. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 46 years and a helpmate to her husband, Bro. Mac, pastor of Calvary for almost 46 years. She was a constant companion with her husband in ministry and being a blessing to people. Her enjoyment in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the Gaither Gospel hour on television, cooking, sewing for her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Becker, with Bro. Kendall Waycaster, Bro. Chris Murray, Bro. Pat McNair, Bro. Tommy Akin and Bro. Levon Boatner officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Bro. Mac Phillips of Amory; her son, Steve Phillips of Amory; her sister, Mary Lou West of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Eric, Stephanie and Amanda Phillips; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Abigail Phillips, Mason Cates; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy and Louis West.
Pallbearers will be Bro. Evan Branham, Bro. Charlie Branham, Tyler Phillips, Bro. Kenny Moffett, Bro. Mike Steele, Bro. Ralph Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. James Tate, Bro. Jim Best and Bro. Clyde Moody.

RED BAY, Ala. – Harvey Ray Lindley, 64, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Red Bay Hospital. He was a native of Alabama, a carpenter for more than 20 years and owner and operator of H and H Building Supply. He attended Red Bay Free Holiness Church.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Red Bay Free Holiness Church with Bro. Harold A. Sparks officiating. Burial was in Red Bay Free Holiness Church Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay, Ala., are in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Darcie Lindley of Red Bay, Ala.; one son, Shannon Lindley (Julie) of Golden; two brothers, Billy Gene Lindley and Shelby Dean Lindley, both of Red Bay, Ala.; and three sisters, Martha Sparks of Belmont, Lois Harrison of Red Bay, Ala., and Syble Lindley Tidwell of Haleyville, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlis Lindley and Gladys Wingo Lindley; and a brother, Jimmy Dale Lindley.

Martha Gardner
SHANNON – Martha Dee Floyd Gardner, 84, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born July 13, 1927, in Oak Hill to David and Annie Lucille Floyd. Martha graduated as valedictorian of her senior class in 1945 from Booneville High School. On October 23, 1949, she married O. H. “Bunch” Gardner. After twenty-five plus years, she retired as assistant vice president of The Peoples Bank & Trust Company and as assistant manager of the Shannon branch location. Earlier in her life, she worked as a bookkeeper for Shannon Grain Elevator and Siesta Furniture Manufacturing.
Martha was always ready for a trip, short or long, and her love of travel took her to all 50 states, Israel and Canada. The holiday traditions she created for her family will live on in memory for generations. Her children and grandchildren inherited her love of games and many happy hours were spent playing Mexican Dominoes. One of her greatest pleasures was the weekly “Hand & Foot” card game with her friends. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Shannon where she was loved by all who knew her and was known for her Italian Cream Cake.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Doug Jones and Rev. John Box officiating. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, O.H. “Bunch” Gardner of Shannon; one daughter, Sandy Gardner of Atlanta, Georgia; one son Bud Gardner (Jennifer) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; one daughter-in-law, Connie Gardner of Baldwyn; five grandchildren, Ben Gardner of Clinton, Drew Gardner (Kelly) of Shannon, Luke Gardner of Baldwyn, John David Gardner and Diana Gardner both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; great grand-daughter, Virginia Kate Gardner.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bro. Lee Gardner; parents, David and Annie Lucille Floyd; brothers, W.D. Floyd and Elmer Floyd; and sister, Mildred Floyd Price.
Pallbearers will be Ben Gardner, Drew Gardner, Luke Gardner, John David Gardner, John David Price, Al Sherfey, Terry Floyd and Ricky Floyd.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the funeral home.
